Besides a bad beginning and some corny lines, pretty good...
2 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I had been pumped for the opening of this movie. I even made my own lightsaber hilt (out of a flashlight and tin foil). Too bad I never got around to seeing it until about two months after it opened. I had been prepared to see the most amazing movie of my life. I had heard good and bad things about it, but mostly good. When I walked into the theater, I felt sad because this was going to be my last experience seeing a Star Wars movie in theaters, and excited because I was finally seeing the movie and I could now discuss this with my fellow Star Wars nerds.

After what seems like forever, the introduction starts and finishes. Every time I hear the main theme I get excited. I was on the edge of my seat, and BOOM... here it is. The opening scene was too similar to the opening of Attack of the Clones. I felt cheated. I heard Obi Wan and Anikin talk about what I think were called "Vulture Droids", I thought that I was looking at metal versions of Ewoks. I was thinking that George Lucas was too lazy to think of a new voice so he reused the Ewok voice for a new droid. Then comes R2D2 with the comic relief. *SPOILER*For the first time I saw that R2D2 could do something besides beep and walk around, he used some powers that nobody knew about to kill two destroyer droids.

Finally, after about 15 minutes of cheesy dialogue, bad acting, and horrible comic relief, came the good parts (or the rest of the movie).

*SPOILERS* I have nothing but praise for the rest of the movie. The sets were beautiful, my favorites are Kashyyk and Uptau. The special fx were great. Anikin's transition to the Dark Side was predictable, but that also could have been because I already knew what would happen in the movie anyways. This movie tied up all loose ends and ended very good. Two images stick in my head from this movie: Anikin glaring into the camera (his eyes glow yellow and you can tell that he has become evil, and the end when Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine were standing looking out at the Death Star.
