Early heartbreak.
1 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Lisa Campbell, a resident of the tunnels who left for the surface world to become a ballet star suddenly returns to the tunnels. This stirs up memories for Vincent who had developed feelings for her when they were younger. He questions the reason for her visit and learns from Catherine about her difficulties with her less than idyllic marriage to a wealthy man with criminal connections and her faltering ballet career. Catherine's own life is endangered because Lisa has fled her husband's controlling influence and they believe Catherine knows her whereabouts. It's also revealed that Father interfered with Vincent and Lisa's relationship because of his concern for Vincent's emotional well being. Ultimately Lisa returns to the city to testify against her husband.

Lopez vs. Lopez: Lopez vs. Espanol (2022)

Alas, no Tower of Babel.
30 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ahead. This struck my funny bone as the situation in this episode could spring up anywhere where mixed cultural backgrounds and human ego come together. Children who have immigrant parents could probably relate to the circumstances that Mayan finds herself in when she unexpectedly has to deal with her father's immigrant employees who no habla ingles while her father is pulled away to deal with other matters. Her smattering of spanish isn't enough to prevent a small disaster. Meanwhile her son Chance sees little if any value in bothering to learn a second language until he is exposed to a telenovela on his grandmother's television.

A bonus prize

Warning: Spoilers
This episode's plot could've been like countless others where the main character (Caroline) is trying to decide whether to accept a marriage proposal (from Del) but instead we get a pleasant diversion when Richard "glass half empty" Karinsky has an encounter with a divorced employment counselor played spot on by Sharon Lawrence. Her over the top "I'm going to bed the next man I meet" attitude has her throwing herself at Richard. Caroline interrupts their liaison and this steers her into Del's waiting arms.

Murphy Brown: A Rat's Tale (1995)

The legend of Bob.
26 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The big event at FYI is the introduction of a new and expensive street level set with a reinforced window for gawkers to stare at the gang as they do their show. However all of this is overshadowed by the surreptitious arrival of the multigenerational descendent of a legendary six toed urban rat named Bob as relayed by a maintenance man portrayed by Cheers' John Ratzenberger. He is reluctant to take on the notorious vermin so Murphy Brown makes it her mission to deal with Bob particularly because he has chewed up critical paperwork in her office as well as her hidden stash of snack food. Her initial efforts fail and Bob makes a sudden appearance on the premiere broadcast of the new set which forces Murphy into action.

Crumbling icons.
14 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode aired approximately three months after the notorious O. J. Simpson car chase was broadcast nationally. In this instance it is an acclaimed astronaut ( voiced by veteran actor Lane Smith) who is the chief suspect in the murder of his brother and FYI pounces on the story along with the rest of the news media despite Murphy Brown 's hesitancy. The FYI crew spends much of its time on the air desperately try to fill in the gaps of the live broadcast while waiting for the suspect to appear in public for police questioning. Then unexpectedly Murphy Brown suddenly finds herself in the middle of the story.

Bewitched: Sam's Spooky Chair (1966)

A piece of furniture steals the show.
25 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had the funniest piece of furniture I've ever seen. Samantha purchases an armchair at an antique shop which literally has a personality and doesn't like people sitting on it though it would happily welcome the lithesome Samantha in its upholstered lap since it is actually a forlorn suitor from her long past who has sought solace as a chair. Go figure. Dick York and Anne Seymour have funny encounters with the enchanted upholstery and kudos to the production crew for designing the different "stunt" chairs used.

Della gets some action.
28 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode, which is sprinkled with humor, is a real treat because it includes a nasty columnist, a notorious book containing a list of secret names, Della Street as an operative, Perry Mason outmaneuvering frustrated D. A. Hamilton Burger and an ancient dictaphone with wax rolls. There's also a young Ruta Lee.

Rob gets double hustled
20 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
That's the title I would have picked for this episode about Buddy Sorel's slick black sheep brother played wonderfully by veteran character actor Phil Leeds who slips into town and ends up hustling Bob Petrie at his own home and basement billiard table but with an unexpected motive. The other hustle comes at the very end of the show from of all people Laura Petrie.

Bewitched: I Remember You... Sometimes (1967)

What if... you remember everything?
27 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is arguably one of the funniest of the "Endora pranks Darrin" episodes. She endows him with a really superior memory after hearing him lament the lack thereof via a quick spell on his wristwatch. Every tiny detail suddenly emerges from the depths of his brain and soon he is overwhelming everyone he encounters including his secretary, Samantha and especially Larry and his knowledgeable client who is swamped by the tsunami of detailed information and fun facts that Darren churns out. Some good comes out of all this in the end as the client realizes what an talkative bore he is and amends his behavior.

My Partner the Ghost (1969–1971)

This is what I wish Ghost Whisperer was like.
15 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had come up with this show's premise prior to discovering this late Sixties-early Seventies British production from ITV. It starts out with a pair of British private investigators whose business is faltering. As the shows title denotes one of the two men is deceased because he is murdered and leaves behind a widowed wife. This tragedy, however, has a silver lining as the deceased detective returns to aid his partner in finding his killer utilizing his unique "spiritual assets" such as being invisible and unencumbered by locked doors and walls as well as demonstrating some poltergeist skills. Two thumbs up for a reboot.

Frasier: My Coffee with Niles (1994)

A simple but effective story.
2 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite episodes where Frasier and Niles meet up at a busy Cafe Nervosa to chat over a cup of java , which proves to be literally true as Frasier is particularly fussy about the ingredients in his and keeps rejecting it. Niles inquires as to whether his brother is happy but Frasier's response is interrupted by the weather, Roz, Daphne, Martin and Eddie.
