Genius Rory Gallagher Live (2005)
Celtic blues master Rory Gallagher lived and died the blues
Rory above else, was a musician who loved to perform. He achieved early international status above Eric Clapton and others, but was more interested in the music than star status and loved to perform in smaller intimate venues. He was an independent stubborn quiet spoken man who became a Rock / Blues demon when he got on stage.
Imagine Rory and John Zurn together on stage today! He loved to explore the genre and would no doubt have been to the forefront in bringing people together in helping to restore New Orleans and the Delta / Gulf Coast. His tribute to Clifton Chenier, "the king of Zydeco" could well become the battle cry to restore that area - a task that will take 5 years or more.
Message to Love: The Isle of Wight Festival (1996)
Rory Gallagher & Taste - raw energy and talent
Rory Gallagher & Taste - raw energy and talent - stole the Isle of Wight festival. They had 3 or 4 encores. Fusion of jazz and blues. Rory mixed all genres of blues - from acoustic, Mississippi Delta, Chicago.
He combined a guitar style with his singing - that made the guitar sound like an extension of his voice. Wailing away.
Eric Clapton was like a sheep in comparison to this Celtic tiger.
Some songs include: Bullfrog blues, Used to be, Cant believe its true. For the last time. Sinnerboy. Messin with the kid, What in the world.
Hes played with the greats - including Jack Bruce in Rockpalast concerts. Playing with Muddy Waters in London was the highlight of his career.
