The Princess & the Marine (2001)
Outstanding movie!
Would love to own this movie. Tried to find it on Bockbuster.com and it wasn't there. I will never forget that movie as long as I live. Romantic, action, intense, raw...The characters in this movie were very believable. I was sucked right in from the start and since it played over a few days, I couldn't wait for the next "episode". Gripping movie. With all the movies and shows out there with smut, swearing, and just plain garbage, this offered real substance. This was refreshing. It's too bad that Hollywood hasn't figured out what people really want to see. A gripping tale of an Arabian princess and a marine who fall in love and are forbidden to be together, only to find a way to do just that. Come on Hollywood! Give us more like this!
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Sorry I saw it!
My husband and I took our almost 9 year old to see Spider-Man 2 and now I wonder why! The scenes were so tense and heavy with violence that I was jumping a lot. The movie is so violent it's no wonder that kids are acting out, imitating what they see. After watching the movie and being disappointed, I took notice of the age of the other children leaving the movie. I couldn't believe how many children under 6 I saw in there. I am sorry I took our son to see it and with the way they ended the movie, I'm sure there will be a third, which I won't even bother with. Can't Hollywood get it through their thick skulls...if you make a violent movie, more violence occurs in the real world???!!! Why isn't Hollywood accountable for some of the garbage that they make?
The Notebook (2004)
Bring a box of tissue, might hit home in more ways than one!
I went to see this movie last night, with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and my 13 year old daughter. I expected it to be a typical love story. What we saw turned out to be much more! The underlying story line of dementia was so emotional. I felt like I was re-living my Grandma's last 6 months all over again. I knew my Grandpa had a hard time with Grandma not remembering who he was, but this movie really showed just how painful it really was. The "sex scenes", although nothing detailed is shown, was uncomfortable with my 13 year old seeing it. Good opportunity to remind her to wait until she is married.
