The Gray Man (2022)
Fun watch but full of clichés
It's a fun Friday night movie but the story is very formulaic and full of cliches, I expected better of the Russo brothers. Ryan Gosling plays the part well but Chris Evans feels weird in the role. The action itself is quite good but the CGI is very poor for a 200 million dollar blockbuster. Other franchises like John Wick have accomplished much better results with a far smaller budget.
Without Remorse (2021)
What is this crap?
I've never read any of the novels and give that the reviews mentioned the movie wasn't good because it isn't a faithful adaptation, I decided to give it a try. What a waste of time. Please don't be like me, don't watch this.
Literally the most generic 2000s action / conspiracy movie. So predictable. I was expecting something more similar to John Wick, not even close.
Patria (2020)
A work of art
I'm not usually a huge fan of Spanish TV but lately some amazing shows have surprised me, as is the case with this one.
I'm from Spain and although ETA (pro-independence Basque terrorist organization that killed over 800 people and terrorized the country for decades) was still active when I was born, it disbanded when I was young. I had read up on the conflict but it never learned about it in school, so I didn't know that much. This show counts on you knowing certain things, as it is not a story on ETA but the pain that the conflict caused on Basque society. If you're not familiar with the history you should read up on it before watching so you understand the show better, but it is completely worth it.
Not wanting to get into spoilers, the show tells the story from the perspective of two women who used to be friends and find themselves in different sides of the conflict. The acting is impecable, deeply moving, and gut wrenching. Everything about this show is a masterpiece.
Reading other reviews with low scores, some people mention that the show is biased or political, when that couldn't be further from the truth. The show doesn't get into politics whatsoever, instead chooses to show the pain and divide that the conflict caused, on both sides. Of course it doesn't paint ETA in a good way, after all they were terrorists, but it doesn't minimize the pain of the families of ETA members.
I would recommend this show to everyone, it is beautifully made show that shines a light on how much pain conflict causes.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020)
If you loved the first one, you'll love this one!
I looooved the first movie and I had no idea that a sequel was coming out, and when I watched the trailer I wasn't super hyped, but this is a really good sequel.
A lot more gore and a lot of fun! Wouldn't mind if they made another one...
Hollywood (2020)
Favorite show in a long time
I loved this mini-series, I wish it could return to be honest. I think this is Ryan Murphy's best work after Pose. I know it is heavily fictionalized but it's a great what if. Can't blame him for rewriting history, Tarantino killed Hitler in Inglorious Bastards and saved Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I loved the ending, which shows incredibly the importance of representation!
Line of Duty (2012)
Best police drama of the decade!
This show is amazing, it's starts off really strong and it just keeps getting better and better with every season. My favorite is season 3!
The acting is great, the twists unexpected and the story incredible, I binged watched the first 4 seasons in a week...
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Great action and super fun
I don't understand all the 1 star reviews. The movie is really fun and exactly what I expected going in. Probably the only let down is the pacing at the beginning of the movie, which is a bit all over the place. The action is really good (not as R rated as I thought tho) and the movie is really fun!
La casa de papel (2017)
Great foreign tv show!
This show is so good. I was very reluctant to watch it when all my friends told me to. I am a Spaniard and I've never been very fond of Spanish TV or movies but when just half way through the pilot I fell in love with the show. The characters are great, they have great stories and their names fit them perfectly. The story is very refreshing and original too.
