Mental (2012)
An OK Aussie Flick
Mental is an Australian film that follows the story of the Moochmore girls as they are certain all of them and their mum are mental. The mum soon gets sent off to a mental institute after she buys thousands of dollars worth of furniture and has a breakdown in public. Soon their dad, the mayor, gets a lady to look after them. This lady is more mental than anyone could imagine.
Mental is hilariously serious. Many jokes are present throughout the whole film although the whole film isn't just haha funny all the way through! The film can be serious at times. There are some serious scenes with knives, guns and death. There are also some scenes that focuses on the mental state of kids and adults although these scenes have something funny about them most of the time. I didn't mind the serious scenes though.
To sum up I really said everything abut this movie in one paragraph. It is hilarious but some scenes can be serious.
Looper (2012)
Confusing but Surprisingly Good
Looper follows the story of a group of people called Loopers. 30 years in the future people get sent back in time to be killed. A looper named Joe gets his future self sent back and he has to kill him and finish his job. Young Joe doesn't kill his older self and the agency comes after both of them.
Looper is full of action. Nearly every scene has gun shootouts or fist fights. Alongside the action is a mild amount of blood. Every time a person gets shot a fair amount of blood squirts out. Not much for the first 3/4 of the film but the last 1/4 has more blood. THis doesn't bother me that much as it's only shown for a second at a time. The action though is excellent as the film needs plenty of it.
Looper can be a bit confusing at times. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD! There are three different beginnings with one of them not making sense. The first one shows Old Joe escaping and Young Joe falling off his balcony and then cutting the scene to when Old Joe comes back in time and is killed. It then runs down the next thirty years of Joe's life to when he is sent back in time and the first beginning happens again. The first beginning was completely pointless as it happens again later. This confused me as I don't know where it fits in the story line and if it means anything by going back in time to re-show it a different way.
To sum up it's good, but I wouldn't rush to see it again. Some scenes may upset or disturb some viewers as well.
