A Haunting in Venice (2023)
Just fun.
Not for kids, they will get bored. Not for DCU/MCU fans- same reason. Really just a fun way to spend a few hours on a Saturday. It has a strong cast and the story line is entertaining. Just be aware that Branagh took some liberties, but does it effectively. You'll just get a Christie adjacent story line. To be honest, the cast does add quality. I think if it were weaker it would not be as enjoyable. Anyway, if your the type that values a trip to the movies, this is a good way to go. Perfect for a mom and pop date night. Though to be honest, the last few minutes of the film were contrived ina way that smelled as a re-write after an initial showing.
The Good Doctor: Sons (2022)
Better when it was on ER.
Though there were emotion charged high points the rest though plays like a seventies family drama. The worst part, and I say this vaguely to avoid spoilers, was a season finale that was taken almost exactly from a season finale of ER. So much so that if it was presented in written word, there would be accusations of plagiarism. They could have done better.
The Blacklist: Genuine Models Inc. (No. 176) (2022)
Whelp, knew this was coming.
Tedious, ridiculous and quite possibly the worst episode ever. The only exciting part was when Fonzie uses water ski's to jump that shark. Hopefully this they can recover the show but the signs are there. Change in writers combined with a central character leaving in the middle of the story line. All it needs now is for Redd's precocious blonde haired nephew to join the cast bringing jolly times and hijinks. Ugh.
Supertrain (1979)
Do I know you?
Just imagine Love Boat but instead of a ship it's on a train then add some drama and excitement to spice things. Now imagine how bad that would be. This is actually worse.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
It's like watching the first three movies in the canon.
I'm astounded that so much talent was so wasted. The script drags and the "humor" puts the dead in dead pan. So many actors that are worthy of respect as well as one of the best living directors could not save this dog. I wonder if the special effects gimmicks were removed, this movie would have received the reviews it did. With the exception of Alden Ehrenreich, who if not the pretty boy of the time would be doing small town theatre there is some great acting but it is just too watch. I was really looking forward to seeing this because I wanted to see what Howard would do with such a cast. I found out, fall dead on his face.
Ghostbusters (2016)
It's as bad as "Manos, hands of fate"? Doubt it,
If you are a neck bearded incel, you will hate it. Look the reasonable yet negative reviews make some good points but you will not find them in any of the one star ones. These are clearly biased. Approach this movie as a new telling, not a continuation and you may enjoy most of it. The jokes, for the most part will illicit a chuckle though several fall dead. The use of cameos regarding the original cast are clumsy at best and unnecessary. It is not going to change your life but it's fun and has a great cast. It's a good way to burn some spare time. I enjoyed it but then again I have a wife and am not threatened by women so there's that.
Resident Alien (2021)
Absolutely funny.
When I saw the promo I fully expected some horrible, wacky, non-stop yuks kind of vapid comedy. Not so. This show is original, insightful, well writer. Alan Tudyk plays the Alien perfectly. His timing is perfect but never over the top. The jokes never get tired.
The Greatest Show on Earth (1952)
Best picture?
The camera work is exceptional and it's a bigger than life, DeMille extravaganza but aside from some very good acting it's downright comical. Big Top Pee Wee is meant as a parody of this particular film but in reality it seems that this film is the parody. From the cheesy "Now see here bub." dialogue to the ridiculous premise of a wanted man who lives unquestionably every waking moment in clown make up. Approach this film with that in mind it is fun viewing but not in the intended manner.

Creepshow 3 (2006)
Could be worse than a bad school project but not by much.
Simply put, the writing is as if someone came across the D- papers from a 7th grade English project. The production from the AV club and acting from the ones who didn't make the cut in the play.
The Man in the High Castle: Fire from the Gods (2019)
Worst...ending...ever.
You can add this final episode to the infamous list of series finale fails that includes Dexter and Saint Elsewhere. The level of disappointment you will experience is palpable especially since up until this episode it is a phenomenal series. I honestly believe the writers, director and producers meant it as a deliberate insult directed at the loyal viewers. It is Sharknado quality without the camp to redeem it.
The Stand (2020)
Not horrible, but...
I guess I have to say I am a bit disappointed. Not with the production quality, it's fantastic. Cinematography and editing are stunning. The mood is definitely heightened. The acting is also exceptional but here's the rub. The story is weak. They took a best selling novel, one so good that if only one King novel is chosen as a surviving classic this would be it. I looked so forward to seeing it reimagined at cinema quality. A reimagining of the the excellent original series but sadly I was let down. The characters were underdeveloped and uninteresting, a mere shadow as they say. The story so edited it seem more like a terrible Readers Digest hack job. The story line bounces back and forth in either some ridiculous avant guard attempt by a college freshman or they seem to think they can shave time and we are stupid enough not to care. But hey, it is Josh Boone after all.
Rocket Hunter (2020)
Arrrrgggooooa it makes my face hurt.
When I was in college we were given group assignments to give presentations on major historical events during reconstruction. For some reason, one group thought it would be a great idea to do a skit which they wrote the script for right outside the classroom in front of God and everybody on the day it was due. As bad as that was, it was Oscar material compared to this giant bag farts.
The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special (2017)
Really,
It is meant for families, kids, adults? It's very confusing as to who this is for. Based on the people involved it should have been funny or good but it is neither. Tom Hanks, whom I thinks is awesome, could place this on his resume right between Turner and Hootch and The Man with One Red Shoe if he were listing his works by quality.
Lost in Space (2018)
More fictional science than science fiction.
Though there are talented actors, this show leaves a lot to be desired. Aside from the fact that there are multiple scientific inaccuracies that could be spotted by a middle schooler... in every episode, the ridiculous plot holes also abound. For example, in one scene they are exploring an unexplored area on the uninhabited mystery planet on established well worn vehicle tracks on a dirt road through the woods. Another example of inanity is when a 9 year fails to reveal that he has hidden a gun and when it results in the death of someone his folks send him for a snack after his heart felt apology. It goes on and on. The robot is super cool though.
