Sooryavanshi (2021)
Lame. Terrible. Awful. Whatever fits you.
I have no grudge against anyone.
But, let me pour my thoughts on Sooryavanshi as a part of Police's Universe by Shetty.
I have no picture background, but, all I can say is, I am enjoying Simmba and Singham's rather than Sooryavanshi himself. I am totally disappointed the way they portray the case, I meant, I know I am not Indian and never felt the loss of family due to attack like 26/11 and any others mentioned in the movie. I meant, when we're gonna left the old case and start to spread love rather than hate. Muslims. Hindus. Why don't bring BJP as well? #oops
But, I am fully entertained by Ranveer's comic acting and actions. When people pointing out how funny he is (in clown type of funny, not a good funny) I do find, he's the real charm, aside Singham's palm. I even watch it again just to enjoy the three coming together dan do comics. Well, Akki is sort of comedian, and so Ranveer. Ajay? No comment.
Why I put 5?
2 points all for Ranveer.
1 point for the last 30 minutes of the movie.
1 point for Rohit Shetty's flying cars.
And the other one just for cinematic experience.
I do have different set of rating if I experience it in big screen. I know Netflix, Primevideo, Tubi or what else everyone mentioning, but, come on, watching a movie in a theater is an experience you could never replace with how big your TV is, from Netflix/Prime/Tubi/anything.
This is one of worst film, yes. But, the last 30 minutes that I am buying. I don't care about 'Sir, Aaj Nahin' by Katrina, on how progressive she is since Zero. She's replaceable, but Tip Tip was good. But it wasn't essential to the movie itself.
My take: You must love Singham and or Simmba to watch this. If you have no idea about Simmba and Singham, save your money, watch Eternals instead.
Foxtrot Six (2019)
Presenting 'Cinematic Universe' in Indonesia
To be honest, 114 mins is too short, for me, Indian Movie audience, which they tend to have movie for 140++mins more or less. Haven't seen the trailer, haven't seen the synopsis. I found 'F6' in Twitterland, which from unknown account replying Oka's reply 'Foxtrot Six'.
Randy Korompis. Sulawesi, I guess. He is fan of Metal Gear Solid fan. --Okay, irrelevant.
It was a nuisance to have Indonesian movie with full English dialogue. Maybe they have their reason, but it is showing we are capable to speak English, making Hollywood-like movies, and one more thing to be achieved, a successful movie.
Sorry if I am blabber about Indonesian Movies Industry. It was random and unpredictable.
What is good from this movie?
CGI and VFX. It was a fun ride to watch made in Indonesia and has good CGI, although not better or as good as Hollywood, but we're making progress here.
Characters. Oka Antara successfully portrayed Angga in his best. No background except his devoted love for Sari (Julie Estelle). Tino is the most bright and has sexy accent among all. Mysterious character like 'Spec' (Chicco Jerikho) supposed to be a key player, but with all mystery made it 'perfect'.
What need more elaboration or explanation?
Story. Having 80 script over 3 years in the making was not easy role for Korompis, but to make it better, he needs to make a better detailed story or working together with screenplay or scriptwriter. It feels like 'Frankenstein'--if you get what I meant.
Foxtrot. There is no explanation about the symbol--either a miss or a clue like Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marketing. Having MD as distributor and marketer surely escalating the chance and game, but it needs improvements, but kudos to F6, the sequel/prequel/spin-off will be easier to reach audiences.
What I like in this movie?
Just Angga's grand introduction in dystopian setting. Having advanced technology like Stark in each movies.
A melodramatic over 'found the lost one' and surprising fact.
Awesome hunks. Well, who can resist if there is Arifin Putra, Oka Antara, Mike Lewis, Rio Dewanto and Chicco Jerikho in one screen and together pursuit one goal.
I can give 2 points for CGI and VFX. One for every main character, Oka have a plus. And one for Korompis. This is not a neutral judgement, I just feel proud that my country is capable of making such movie.
Can't wait for another.
Gully Boy (2019)
Multilayered Story Focusing on Murad's
Fact: I don't like rap, I haven't watch Mile 8.
Movie: Watching movie in Slum area is not my thing. I am more into Karan Johar's baby. Seeing a grandeur movie with lot of costumes and all. Ranveer Singh and Zoya brought me to this title. We have to admit that audiences are vary to some extent. There will be saying this movie is crap, boring, masterpiece, Oscan material and such. To justify a movie, you have to watch and endeavour what is served. Gully Boy served a multilayered story focusing on Murad's dream to rap. I can say this is not Zoya's finest, but also not that bad. I realize it will be hard on elaborating background story why Murad loves rap. What happened in first scene is not helping at all. She made hooks in the movie which force us to see who is Murad--and it happened he live in patriarchy family with polygamy issue--which is not elaborate because it is just focus on catching a dream. Safeena and Murad's story is showing the inequality and class divide. There will be a lot pros and cons about this but there are a lot of movies talking about this. Capturing the generation gap without emphasize to Digital India is a smooth way from Zoya. Oh, don't you forget about child labour which is not very advisable to do so. Sky's presence was somehow problematic, but I keen to believe Zoya tried to send a message, sometimes couple need a space from each other. There are many flaws (in my point of view) but it seems won't matter much.
Act:
Ranveer Singh is showing another avatar of him which he never put in larger scale. From Bitto Sharma to Murad Ahmad. He's not piling up similar avatar like SRK, but there are down at the pit as well.
Alia Bhatt. She has contribute at minimum level but her portraying Safeena is quite bold and smart. Over protective yet has no gut to tell to her parents. Good job, Safeena.
Siddhant Chaturvedi. This debutant surely know how to work with big star such Ranveer.
Vijay Raaz. Outstanding Father. He is surely another version of Ronit Roy's avatar of Abusive Father/Husband.
It is not my favorite genre and scene, so 2 point to deduct.
Ranveer Singh added 4 points.
Alia Bhatt added 2 points.
Rappers added 2 points.
Story is just 1 point for me, it is beautiful, but not in my favor. Dialogue 1 point, so in total 8. A good film is a good film.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018)
Failed to Humor
Not knowing the journey of Kartik-Luv Ranjan; but to make it brief, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is baseless, groundless, senseless story. The premise was good, in how Titu is a melo-dramatic and head over heels type, while Sonu is jakass person. But they failed to serve the reason why Sonu has doubt at the first place. Sometimes 'Perfect person is there' It'll bee good if there is more reasoning why this Sweety is a threat. By revealing her true color without explaining why she's a sly person made the movie worse. Sonu not so brilliant idea is total waste, illogical, to be added. No one will choose a bro over a girl, soon to be wife to the extent. Start and End in same phrase, 'Is it me or her?'
This title has some emotional package in how Sonu being abandoned, defeated by a witch soon to be wife, is not a good thing.
This is truly fiasco, not Zero. Sorry, my judgment is purely about what it is served, if you think Zero worse, then I don't get it.
Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan, Cinta (2018)
Magnificent Reel of Real
It happened I watched it in a stream service, I am swear it is my 2018 sin for not watching this title on cinema. I don't have much on the story, because I wasn't born on Java, so I don't really understand the impact of Sultan Agung. On the other hand, Hanung Bramantyo successfully bring out his collective desire in movie making. This title is one of his best directed despite few flaws. All emotions they created in the movie is such real, the love, the pain, the doubt, the anger. All I can say is, try to look up Hanung like SLB of Bollywood, you'll love his movies, especially in written history.
Zero (2018)
Experimenting with Indian Audience
First of all, I am not Indian nor NRI. It happened that I am SRKian, but I am very objective on this matter. When I hit the theatre, I didn't have expectation, because I admit that SRK's charming is decreasing, so I don't have any idea about #Zero except it is about a dwarf (which is not that dwarf, for me, 4ft is not dwarf, I believe, huge dwarf it is).
Knowing the director and his showreel, it made me believe that it will bring a little Ranjhanaa in the movie. No offence, I love it, even it has Sonam. It has the 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' trio, again.
Okay, done introduction. Now to the critics or comment to the movie itself.
Story. Somehow, SRK being hopeless romantic is something kinda new for him. I've been thinking few times, what is Indian Audience with 53 years old actor. He's Badshah of Bollywood. The King of Romance.
SRK experiment it with his own production house, Red Chillies, starting with Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Dilwale, Fan, Raees, Jab Harry Met Sejal and now #Zero. Even though there is a fact that he has to refund to the cinema for the loss of Jab Harry Met Sejal, but JHMS is the most romantic film he ever made under RC. But #Zero is special. He's not being a lover as he should be, he is hopeless romantic.
The formula is right, but there is some loophole that need to be fixed to make it a better movie. Katrina Kaif's yet best performance is a bit make believe, where scriptwriter might develop a better case for Baaua Singh, rather than what he did.
NASA like scene is beyond imagination. It could be selling point, but it was not good fit with classic sub-urban story.
It is a mediocre movie with half baked story, but enjoyable to see the transformation of Baaua Singh. There is no Social Issue, like Akshay did in his few last films, but surely, Zero Winning Hearts.
Aquaman (2018)
I hope this is Marvel
I don't know where to begin. But first, I'd like to praise James Wan for directing this movie. It is seems more colorful and brighter than any other DC Movies. Jason Mamoa succeed in taking the role and all. This movie brings happiness to the audience thru all steps in the journey.
Keluarga Cemara (2018)
Helping Digital Economy
I don't remember the long soap drama in telly, but after watching this film, I come to a realization that digital economy is there and move a step closer to everyone dream. Duo Ringgo Agus and Nirina Zubir is known for comical role they succeed portraying Abah and Emak. I find difficulty to understand why they pick Zara JKT48 as Euis and she's too introvert as Euis that I ever remember. Ara (Widuri) is a show stealer with her openness and happiness.
Euis new friends are surely a friend in life you'd be looking for, not that Jakartan friends of her (most of them are JKT48, so yeah)...
Reminiscing the soundtrack of that telly, the most treasure thing you'll ever had is family.
Ghayal Once Again (2016)
Once. Just Once.
I don't know how to start with this title. Have nothing in knowledge about this movie or its prequel. But, I admit that Ghayal Once Again is a good Sunny Dheol's production. Well, the last thing that I watched about him was Yamla Pagla Deewana. A total different genre and quality. Speaking about quality, I thought that its quality is one of the negative point from this movie. Tried to 'eye to eye', let's presume how SRK did railway scene in R.A. One and this title one. Well, it is not supposed to be presented, but let's give a huge bow for trying. I wasn't shocked with Sunny's super jab and his big arms, surely we saw it on his other movies. As an actor, I would like to say, he playing so safe out there, but to extend that he is a director of this title, so we could say that this is a huge movement and a huge progress remembering his first directorial debut was Dillagi and it was years back then. The other casts, I'd like to say, again, he play safe to put a rare known actors but it acceptable to put youngster for fighting for justice and truth. I think that was the positive point from this title. Come to the story line which made by Shaktiman Talwar and Sagar Pandya. I'd like to comment about this one... this is so 'Hollywood stories'. There a lot of Bollywood tried to adapt 'Taken' line story in light version, such as Akshay's Holiday then this title as well. Maybe the idea of Ghayal slightly brought in this title. If we're going to draw a line, then it should be 'Ghayal' that they're tried to portray. But it has nothing to do with it unless the main character, Ajay Mehra suffered from such illness. To sum up, this movie is quite light and 'popcorn' type which you can spend your time with dear ones. Story it self has lacking in minor things, but overall you will be annoyed with Kabir's not-so- philanthropic and his fear-of-public-disgraced father.
Fan (2016)
A Senior that lead his Junior in a wrong path
There will be a huge comments about this movie. On the way its production phase, a lot of people guessing that this movie is as usual as SRK's movies lately. Just another double role, nothing to expect except a narcissistic project of a mega star. Teaser and trailer told us a total different genre of movie. On the other side, people has been thinking that this movie would represent a love from a FAN to his one and only idol, but it's not all, isn't it? So. In my point of view, FAN has got the power by the one and only SRK. But at the end all the casts and crews hard work has been paid off. Maybe it lose against Jungle Book, but surely, FAN will be a milestone in Bollywood cinema. I keep following all the line of stories that they told in the movie. And at some point, there a flip. What they gave us in Croatia was awesome, even if a lot of Bollywood movies has done that, but it just gave the different mood because of a FAN. SRK play it well as Gaurav Chandna, but he loses a bit in Aryan Khanna. At some point Aryan is him, and the other side is not. In to technical, the VFX did a great work, but I got disturbed with the size of hands. If they shrunk the body a bit, so the hands will be smaller than it is right? I was too mesmerized with this kind of movie. No dance. No singing. No song. It is just SRK trying to make another his good performance even though a bit late, but he succeed in his way somehow. No wonder if I stated that Gaurav outshine Aryan Khanna. And the story will remain a history in decade. And this movie is not only for SRKian (fans all over the world). I think people should watch this because they gave us lessons either as a FAN or a STAR.
Deep bow.
Wazir (2016)
Play to Learn, then you will win
I don't know how to start this one. Many people put a high hopes in this movie, but it turn out that not great, but in some aspect wins my attention. This movie has quite low WoM, after watching it, there will no further discussion. But, let's put some reasoning why I gave this 7 out of 10. Major points should be given to the main actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar really did it really well. No need comparison, Amitabh as Panditji is quite brave and smart, meanwhile being an angel to the broken relationship between Daanish and Ruhana. One special point goes to the magic, 'Play to learn, and you're gonna win.' In a chess, I think it is right to play opponent's pattern and you will have a chance to win, and that's why it says Logic (if you play Sims, tho) One point really will be given to Wazir itself. In how Panditji make up some fiction character just to boost out Daanish self awareness and to help him while he has such condition. There's no singing and dancing, well, quite good for contemporary movies seeker. This movie come to a mediocre with slight twist that will flutter your mind. You will keep watching it for minutes and all. Yeah, learn has no boundaries. In life, we always learn, like a pawn could become a Queen if he finished all his journey. One sacrifice would make a better impact, nuffsaid.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Nothing to barge about.
Declaration: I'm not a DC fan, and never read DC Comics before. I can't place the continuation between Man of Steel to this one, because it seems legit and really a good stand-alone movie. There a lot of bad reviews, but in generally, I think major problem that this film got was its story line. There would be good for you who really know all DC's character, but for people who don't even know about the cameos and even Wonder Woman. Now let's break it out. I will tell you the positive first, then negative. Positively Jesse Eisenberg's presence in the movie bring more light to the movie which is dark already. He portray Lex Luthor quite good (and some said it wasn't even Lex Luthor, Superman's greatest enemy) Ben Affleck did a good job as Bruce Wayne, but he need more time to adjusting with the suits and technology. Gal Gadot's presence was a mystery and still kick it, in the ass. Clark and Lois love lane is like a lightning in the dark, a few yet so deep and so romantic even if the movie is not about romance. What's negativity this movie has? 1. Detail. Not all audiences know about Lex Luthor, and probably the one who knew him will be quite confusing, but it's Zack to be responsible for it. 2. Too many teaser. Aquaman, Cyborg, The Flash, even Infinity in one movie and it just make the movie look dumb. 3. Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy just make it worse. Since we loved Nolan's handpiece of work, now we just portraying Batman as Nolan did to Bale, and Alfred, is so much different, it was like Tony Stark or even Howard Stark. 4. I can't say it negative, but we should watch it again, to understand what the movie is... Really... It is just wasting money. But it still give pleasures. Watch or not? Hmm... better prepare for yourself with Justice League, so you really know all the characters and will know them even better with their own movies. Which is leads to DC's weaknesses in cinematic universe.
Bajirao Mastani (2015)
Love never has a happy Ending.
Don't judge me wrong. I've seen Devdas and Goliyon Ki Rasleela RamLeela. Either both of character die, or one of them is. BajiRao Mastani is a magnum opus (they said) I don't wanna explain about this anyway. Here's my review (or comments to the movie)
I don't know about Bajirao and Maharashtra's history, let's presume what SLB brought to us is valid. I found resembles between Radhama and Maham Anga, they just wrong. But let's pretend that marrying into other religion is wrong, what Radhama did to Mastani is out of humanism. I swear, she got my nerves.
A king with two goddesses. It is just easier to presume the whole story with a diagram, Kashibhai is source of Peshwa's strength, while Mastani is the source of his happiness. And Kashi is left with Samsheer Bahadur, and raised him as her own. It needs a lot of courage to do so. So Kashi-bhai just got 2 points.
Deepika Padukone. She is renowned one. What she did to Bajirao Mastani is somehow come to mediocrity. She did it good, but nothing to be proud of. Priyanka Chopra is truly a queen. She deserves it. I mean, being a Lady of the house, means queen. She just doing it right and brilliant despite her busy schedule as well. Ranveer Singh. I recognized his goddamn good acting skill in his Dil Dhadakne Do. Both DDD and BM is a total different genre of movies, but he did it so brilliantly. He is the life of the movies. Even at some point I wonder what really happen between Bajirao and Mastani, but being a Peshwa is another thing. He good at it.
I was too drowned in the story and I can't even give a criticism to the filmmaker. This movie is good in all possible way. Packaging, direction, promotion, story, acting, and casts.
I vote for watch it twice, at least.
Dilwale (2015)
Mediocrity is never fail.
What we can say about this anticipated movie? Not to set it on high hopes is a good thing to do. One credit given for each SRK and Kajol, they were amazing in half way, but their chemistry isn't spark as before, but it is still nice to see them again. (It's a treat for the fans though)
Varun Dhawan along with Johnny Lever and Varun Sharma is a best choice to live it up, and so duo Boman Irani and Sanjay Mishra for another side of comedy is should be credited to 2 points. Not so good story yet still make viewers laugh so hardly in theaters, so Rohit Shetty is not fail to make this one. Do not over thinking about others' speculation about this is a bad movie, should be skipped or what. I admitted that the story is so easy to be cracked, and the way they solve the problem is not that unique, since its for family movie, it is just legit.
There's nothing wrong with the direction, but I think the story itself should be rearrange in a good method of a gangster and the afterlife of a gangster. I think the production team is a bit confuse to choose whether to make a solid romance or action. It is no YRF or Karan Johar's legacy of work, so it is fair to put romance in that way.
Again, this Dilwale is for Dilwale type. Whose have big heart for their idols and craving for them to romance one more. What happen in Bulgaria deserve one sole point of rating, so I gave 5 of 10.
It might be a bad movie for some people, but it always left smile to use whenever we finished it.
Tamasha (2015)
Unexpected Performance of Ranbir Kapoor, If I may say so...
I don't know where to begin. It is Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone (RKDP, for next) or it is Imtiaz Ali? We knew both of them has been working with Imtiaz Ali through different title, Love Aaj Kal for Deepika Padukone, and Rockstar for Ranbir Kapoor. And come to the extent, what it will be?
Two actors with a proof of good acting (look at their Black Lady(s)) and an highly promising director with a deep mind is not a joke.
It started with those two, then a credible director, and an awesome Music Director. Too many things to be handled, and surely it will make one and another down. Youngster nowadays longing for once-upon- a- time best couple, RKDP. But it turned out that it is RK's, for sure.
I can't digging any deeper, but in my perspective, Tamasha is about a chance of being your truest self. We can't simply judge about mental crisis that happened to Ved (RK) and also we can't simply add a note about Ved-Tara love story, it is just 'his muse'.
Four credits has been given to the aces of the movies, they are astonishing in the way they could.
One credit goes to Tara's gut to track Ved's where about even they promised to not look for each other, but it is just like that. Love is contagious, once you felt it, you won't ever be the same person again.
One credit goes to Ved for coming out. Despite his depression, he choose to be 'normal' as his father's told him. But at the end he didn't want to be that 'hero' that will lead to a mediocre life.
Lastly, I want to give credit to all people who made this lovely movie. Even though I think there are some missed points, but they did it.
Now come to the criticisms that I found for Tamasha. 1. Introduction is somehow hanging us somewhere, and didn't let us to come back to reality. Even with the return of Don, it is just not enough. 2. Daily life of common man, Ved. His work environment is good, his colleagues know he being rejected, and they didn't find out more. But it will bring more drama to the drama, so I think it wise to left it there. (Beg your pardon).
Okay. I give up. This movie is too nice to be criticized, let's just be who we are, and let the people that love us be around. By not pushing them away. And more important, do not leave the person that you love the most into something that you didn't want.
As usual, natural performance of DP. She is that girl who will make things right, even we know RK's movies is not doing well lately. And she is just that happy doing Tamasha, in professional way that she could. A bright and outstanding performance of RK. Barfi! is another case, but I think Ved is another achieved milestone my RK. I bet he will win some award for his brilliant performance in Tamasha.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)
100 percent for Prem Dilwale
Let's begin this story with average man with blessed heart. Can you identify what is the difference between Bajrangi and Prem? They have such heart, thus, I can't make a focus in assessing this movie. If we're talking about Pritampur, the core story is so average, a king with a weakness, women. An ego within the wives.
If we're talking about Prem taking Vijay's place for welcoming Rajkumari Maithili, it is just classic story that happened to movies, Bollywood in focus.
I'd like to add one point for Swara Bhaskar. Playing as a sister then a mother to her little sister is a hard thing to do, and when she met Maithili, it resembles for a movie, back then. To that scene, I'd like to add one more point.
Now the good thing about Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It taught us that the relationship between sibling is thicker than closed friend or even like Chirag in this movie. The decoration that resembles Sooraj's the most is a good point and it is just right there, Diwali season, time to comeback for family etc... And I'd like to add one point to Deepak Dobriyal for taking Kanhaiya role. Slightly he help the entire movie with Anupam Kher, thus I'd like to add one more point for him.
And last point to extravagant shooting techniques.
I'm not giving a point to Salman Khan (he's not improving) and Sonam Kapoor is a bit better, but I don't think she help the entire movie.
So, that's it... I'd like to see Prem Dilwale for many times, but I don't think he deserves one point to the movie. PRDP is just another overrated movie.
Brothers (2015)
15 minutes core idea, tough-less ending.
Proclaim. I never watched Warrior.
I'd like to say this movie clueless. Warrior has its own setup, and I don't think Bollywood shouldn't follow as it is, to the extent, it was bit soulless. It'd be better if there's no item dance by Bebo. The credits was given to some, 2 points for Akshay Kumar for playing it cool, bold, and really nature. 1 point for Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline, and Siddhart, even I can't give him such point.
I was amazed by its studio, but in the end, it just can't help with the soul of the movie. I enjoyed the 15 minutes they gave, it's about how it started. Ah ya, I should put another point for Shefali Shah for totally immersed for being Maria.
Critical comment for Siddhart, that I've been wondering what was he doing there. Maybe it won't give such effect to another audiences, but I think Siddhart really play it safe, and really not existing for entire movie. Well, can't help it, maybe he wasn't ready... To the extent I'd like to wait how Varun did it with Akshay's archenemy.
Music wasn't that catchy.
Story. I'd like to divide it to two major stories, first in how Fernandez's family scattered, second in how David took such decision. And to comparing which one better, it was a bit tough decision to make. Again, it is just another remake that fail to make a new system to its universe.
In short, the movie was not my cup of tea (and wonder why Warrior got 8.2 rating), but to judge it fairly, it is just another soulless movie that trying to get much audiences, but it lost its own quality. It is just not Bollywood type of movie.
Cheers.
Bangistan (2015)
Has to go through it.
Knew this movie from @iamsrk tweet in reply to @FarOutAkhtar. It has Riteish Desmukh (which is comedy guarantee).
The idea was a bit weak, but they tried to make it less controversy. Maybe for some people its a good movie, but I'd be not. This movie has a good message (though I got the message long time ago) in terms of peace. But it also emphasizing one's religion to others, maybe Oh My God! told us better, but let's give the credit to Hafeez bin Ali, Praveen Chaturvedi, Imam and the Pandit-ji whom use iPad.
Music a bit catchy. Hogi Kranti delivers some unique things to viewers (at least me) then credit tittle song can't be skipped though.
Jacqueline Fernandez as special appearance did good, but not really help the case which Hafeez and Praveen has been through. Direction itself is a bit unstable, and the story itself should be developed into something funnier, mightier and so on.
In short, Bangistan is a cheerful trying to make us laugh (yes it did, Riteish did well) and delivered mediocre message to us.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Winners (just not) take it all.
For bunch of times. It's Salman Khan. Look what he has. A massive die-hard fans. A great family in business. A highest paid actor in business.
Now narrowing the view to the movie itself. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was destined to be released on Eid. It supposed to be fun (checked), meaningful (checked) and touching (checked). BB has it all. Winner takes it all.
To assess the movie, I'd like to divide it into some part, based on area that I know best.
First. Actor or casts. BB has great casts. First its own producer, Salman Khan. A contemporary leading actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan. A never-fail-us- again promising actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and veteran actor like Om Puri. Well, it should be blockbuster, na?
Move aside to the story. Though it a bit irrelevant (in causal effect, of course) If Harshaali Malhotra (as Shahida or Munni) well- educated, it won't happen. And for Bajrangi devotee follower is no kidding. It implied that kid could see someone pure heart despite all the differences they had. I bet, as a kid, I won't even brave to follow some stranger with different religion. And BB brought it to the next level, two major clashes country, Indo-Pak. Since we know that BB has no focus on romance, we couldn't hope much, even Kareena in Gabbar is just a slight, not a good one. But in direction, it is just easy to follow. To sum up, the hero should be given to Nawazuddin instead Salman. But again, BB eagerly taught us that heart is an important thing than brain and desire.
Bajrangi kasam se, mujhe kehna tha sacch hai. I'm writing in a good form, and no regret to put it as 8. It just deserve that way, even some illogical event happened.
So that's it. sometime, you just be rewarded not because your bravery, simply because your pure heart. No kidding. We would live in that era rather than this. Who would do that in this era?
That remain questioned.
Jazbaa (2015)
Blind Spot of Law and Order
Can't say much. I was focused on the law and order. In how this is Aish's comeback after maternity leave. Irrfan K's movie, and they made it cool.
I will break down the things in some segments. First, casts. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Irrfan Khan. Good point. My intention was Irrfan, who ever regret watching his movies? Furthermore, we got Aish at her best form. I love her. She's dazzling. She's that hot, as always. Some major actors like Jackie Shroff and Shabana Azmi was good in their part, especially the last name appears. Second, story. It is good, but do not have a bold reason to show. Whether it is an agony of a mother whom her child has been abused (to death) or simply talking about rape and murder. It just blundering some. Third, added value. I think it'll be more tactical movie, in how Shabana Azmi took a major part to the film. Even, mini romance between Aish and Irrfan unintentionally developed, but it is just a miss.
And yeah. This is my review about Jazbaa. It is just do not have a clear intention, whether it wants to show about rape and murder case, or revenge, or law and order. We have various movies like Jolly LLB in Law and Order form. No body killed Jessica, even, Rahasya would make great case of murder.
It is just... a waste of time, but Irffan K never fail us (or it is just me?).
Anyway, that's it.
Drishyam (2015)
Another gate of South's Greatness
I have watched several remake South's movies made by Bollywood. And it just a relieved that I watched Bollywood one, regarding maybe Malayam one is far better than Ajay's Drishyam.
I might be not credible enough to score the movie as high, but I think it deserves high rating despite its remake (non-original movie).
It was delightful fully roasted ribs, if I may say so. Enjoyed every moment. Half to an hour was really tensed me up. Its direction was highly good. When it comes to tactical things and thoughts, I'd say, really focus me up. I even can't blink an eye to look forward, what he could do. Regarding the actors, it just perfect. Yes, it was not that remarkable, but for a good story- oriented movie, it is as it is. I have nothing much to backstage mode. It just surprise me a lot. Ajay just get it right. Even his Singham image was better, but Vijay is another case of a father.
I think I could do that much to do this review.
Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
Fun Cruising in a Family Crisis
A good direction by Zoya Akhtar and also awesome work of Javed Akhtar. Totally immersed in Pluto's dialog. I watched Luck by Chance, Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara and this. And I love this one most than two others.
Direction: Good, but in some technical way flawed.
Story: Scattered Good. There are so many stories could be developed, but I think they would like to emphasize on dysfunctional family. First half brought us to joyful movie, even-though it was not well elaborated into the main problem. Second half, has so many hilarious scenes, but the pace wasn't good as first half (due to joy) but main problem and solution well explained.
Casts: I'd like to give Ranveer Singh as the main actor, he did an awesome job there. But please, I don't like his dance, please teach him a good dance... Priyanka Chopra as always, did an excellent job for being sister. Anil Kapoor play it cool. Zoya introduced us to Ridhima Sud, she did quite well for a débutant, and so did Vikrant Massey, quite a show stealer. Anushka Sharma. I just like her in this movie. Farhan Akhtar, he's just remarkable. I think that's the reason they put him under Special Appearance rather than main cast.
Music: A little bit boring, but Gallan Goodiyaan is awesome.
Overall: an enjoyment on a theater. I put it 8 because I like it, and for 3 hours, I don't even blink for looking to my phone. As I remember, a good movie is not determined by parameters, but it delivered the idea well-enough. And I think Zoya has delivered it good enough.
