Wolftenstein .. enough said!
21 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie starts out like some serious action flick but ends up being everything a gamer that played Wolfenstein games would want. There were a few moments where I felt dialogue could have been better or no dialogue used would have been better but it didn't take away the overall fun of this movie. It also like a movie of a similar name with the ending basically commenting on the fact that power / knowledge taken from the enemy and put in the good guys hands isn't the right idea as it seems humanity is bad to the core. Anyway a 100% must see and / or buy for fans of Wolfenstein and a good movie to just chill and watch despite a little message sent at the end. Wish I saw this in theatre and hope some place that plays old movies will have this showing one day and I can get to it. As for the real parts of this they were breathtaking and gruesome and had me saying thankfully I was never put in the position to experience war. In regards to a soundtrack I never really noticed it in the way you would with other movies but obviously it fit as I loved the movie. The acting was spot on. The graphics for the deformed people were spot on. So glad I found this at Family Video to watch.

Nazi Overlord (2018)
8/10
A low budget spin on Nazi science gone mad. 8 out of 10 for the pin up girl.
21 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
People on here were expecting more from this title? In regards to the acting there were a few moments where I thought with dialogue the actors did not put enough into their lines but that was rare. Emotions shown by the actors felt real the majority of the time. As for the story it was interesting enough although when the mad scientist stripped down naked it was totally unneeded to make the plot of the movie go forward although I guess with how she looked I would give her an 8 out of 10. Now unfortunately for this film with a limited budget when there was fire to be shown it looked ridiculous. I honestly wish a studio with a larger budget handled this film as it was pretty good all things considered. Heck when I saw the other projects the scientist had going on right away I thought of Castle Wolfenstein. As for the ending eh it wrapped up the theme that good thinks it can harness evil or just wants power and there is no good or evil. It is like today where lines between good and evil are blurred. Honestly mankind deserves what happened to it in the end of this film if the people do not fight back against the 1%, corporations and governments.

Kingdom Come (2014)
8/10
Saw-like but in the end you get a different movie for sure.
17 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Throughout the early portion of the movie you definitely get the feeling this is going to be like one of the Saw movies with them all trapped in a building with no way out and not knowing what to do and then you start to see various characters being confronted about a drug habit, about unintentionally killing their kid over racism and so on. It had some Saw-like story telling for sure but then we got into religion and good vs evil on a higher level than just some man handing out punishment like you see with Saw. The ending was also quite interesting in that the girl was an angel of God or greater but also was that lady's daughter that I think she may have aborted at some point in her life as a teen. That was a very powerful moment when the girl said her mother was forgiven because in the Catholic church that is something that is no forgiven so it makes you think again about what religion was inspiration for this movie. There was the Devil character but is there not the Devil in other religions? Also at very end of the movie to see this was all part of purgatory or something similar was interesting. The main character, Sam Becker, had caused all these people to meet because he caused this massive car accident. Now will he and that lady, Jessica, live or die? Who knows. That isn't the point of the movie anyway. It is all about asking forgiveness of sins, retribution and how that can cause you to sin and so on. I didn't give this movie a score yet and may never will as I am not sure how to rate it. I think the acting was decent but not the best it could be with actor Jo Jo Karume at times early not seeming as convincing as he should be as the tough guy and his lines could have been delivered better so you could knock a point off there or at max. two points for. So how does one give this movie a score of 8 out of 10 or greater? Sometimes I hate scoring systems because you want to give a movie a score you feel it deserves but you may get ripped to shreds for doing so. So again no score given to this movie for now by me but it is definitely worth watching. Oh and one last thing let me say that the creatures that worked for the Devil or whatever were kind of cool looking. I like the way they acted on screen also. There was no CGI for these creatures and it shows that sometimes it isn't needed. Now with me posting this as a review I had to give it a score and so I gave it an 8. The only thing wrong with the movie was a bit of the acting at times. I could not think of other things to knock the score down for.

House of Dust (2013)
House of Dust needed more pace, bigger budget and it could have been something much more than it was.
30 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie that is for sure good as a cheap rental. It needed more action/a faster pace at certain points of the movie though to make it better for more people and to make it likable for a wider audience. Also with a bigger budget they could have had some better special effects but what they did have didn't look bad on screen. In regards to the story I liked the idea of how this spirit came about possessing people. There also was an interesting back story even if it wasn't too complex but it was well set out for us at the beginning. I also think the ending was interesting in that the spirit found a host which it should be able to control easier and mold into what he needs the person to become so he can create more havoc on the earth eventually. Definitely a second movie could be made and be entertaining. No way this movie was a 1 like someone said on the IMDb message boards for this movie and yeah it wasn't a blockbuster 8+ movie but it was watchable and enjoyable for the most part. Also in regards to the acting for this it was solid if not spectacular. I have seen much, much worse and the acting did not make me want to shut off the movie. As for specific acting Inbar Lavi is smoking hot. I don't think people are going to mind seeing more of her on the big screen. She delivered her lines fine and it would have been interesting to see if this cast could have handled a more fast paced script which is what this movie should have had more of. Hopefully we will see this in a sequel. To be honest I can't remember the last person in a movie that I said was smoking hot before Inbar Lavi in a long while. A new pretty face for the movies? Maybe.

I hate to put a score out of 10 on this and so I won't if I don't have to while posting this review.

Man of Steel (2013)
7/10
Superman for people who did not know the whole story and read all the comics and so on.
26 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This movie definitely allowed for me, a fan of Superman who did not know the comics at all, learn more about the hero in the goofy suit. I highly recommend this series of movies over previous ones as I think this really tells more than past movies in a way that people not reading the comics and so on will grasp easily. Also it was wonderfully done without the movie being boring in any way. The graphical presentation was pretty good but I saw the movie in 3D in my home and really can only comment on how watching it that way felt. Now while there always could be more stuff coming at you on the screen, and my son complains about this all the time with 3D movies, I think this movie was better for having 3D. The action sequences were over the top and the destruction in this movie was massive. It made me oh and ah for sure. I think the acting was solid although a few times I thought lines would be delivered a little more forcefully in certain scenes. Still this didn't take much away from the movie being a quality flick to watch. I do think though that Superman's birth father should have looked much more fake and unreal and more like a projected image when Superman saw him on that ship after his birth father was long dead. I just felt his birth dad after death looking so real just felt wrong. What also felt wrong was not seeing dead bodies with all the destruction that was going on. It is ridiculous to show nothing.

8 out of 10 is the best I can give this film.

On a different day I might rate it a bit lower but with no decimal point ratings allowed on the site well it makes it harder for me to rate some films. I think this is better than just a plain 7 for sure but maybe an 8 is too much. Eh anyway.

Bottom line is this movie entertained while educating people who did not know all of Superman's story.

Dead Weight (2012)
3/10
The first hour was Dead Weight then the movie got decent.
18 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I am upset I paid to see this even if it was a cheap rental but let me say that after Charlie kills the harmless old people the group meets along the way because he finds out that they are not going to his planned destination and will tell the others not to go where he wants them to go well from this point on this movie shows it had the possibilities of being a decent film. I guess with a bigger budget, better actors and actresses and some tweaking of the script well maybe just maybe this could have been a good movie. With all that said pick it up as an extra free rental you sometimes get at movie rental places but really I say download it. The ending was decent. The last 30 minutes of the film are worth watching which is 33% of the film so I will be generous and give this film a 3/10.

A well done comic related movie.
10 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
A really enjoyable movie and decent 3D effects in it although not over the top but I definitely oh'ed and ah'ed watching the movie. The graphics combined with great acting made for a very fun viewing. The combat definitely looked great with all the special effects added. The stone creature Thor absolutely obliterated was outstanding looking and that scene where he was defeated the stone creature was pretty funny. In fact I think on the subject of funny they did a good job of adding light hearted moments in this film without it feeling forced and not ending up corn ball.

The main characters not from Earth were interesting. Thor, Loki and Odin had an interesting family dynamic going on. It kept me interested. I also did have my heart strings pulled when Thor's mom was killed. The funeral / ceremony to honour her death was very interesting and I wonder what all the parts of the ceremony meant.

In regards to the ending to this movie it left me shocked and wondering what I missed. I definitely want to go back and look and see if I can figure out how Loki did what he did. I definitely will be interested to see the next movie if there is one planned.

In regards to the acting it was what it should be. I would say that playing Thor had to be difficult and to not have it turn out cheese ball is an accomplishment for Chris Hemsworth.

I should also mention that the scene where Loki, Tom Hiddleston, and Thor, Chris Hemsworth, fought together and supposedly the character Loki died well I thought that was really well played. Outstanding. Another example of where action/combat in this film shined.

Let me finally say I was a person who knew nothing of this story coming in as I don't know the whole Marvel Comics thing and yet I found watching the film extremely enjoyable and in the end wanted more.

I am going to give the movie a 7 out of 10.

Cowboys & Aliens > Fargo. Movie critics need to actually watch movies before rating them or just get better taste.
7 May 2014
A movie that is underrated. I guess it didn't go over well at the box office & it's Metacritic rating is just 50/100 and users of IMDb, while a little more kind, gave it an average of 6.1 and to me there is no way this movie isn't a 7.

The story made sense & acting was decent. There were moments where I was made to think about how in this world we work together or well don't work together & what it takes to get races/nations to work together & sadly it hasn't gotten to the point where we are all working together as one to make the world better for all.

This movie had great action sequences & good graphical presentation.

In terms of movie type it is sci-fi so people watching need to remember that it is fake. Seriously I wonder sometimes if people can handle fake anymore.

The acting was decent enough. I never felt that it was bad to where it hurt the story. Acting as it was for this flick was what was required. This was not Titanic or Platoon. Now there were some emotional moments but it didn't need over the top acting to convey what they wanted to convey.

Music definitely fit but was nothing memorable.

As for how the movie ended/could have ended. Well I was led to believe for a moment that the ending I expected wasn't going to be & that is good & is something that makes a movie a quality movie.

In comparison to other movies this is similar to Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow in terms of how it wasn't appreciated. To me this movie was much more entertaining than movies of other subject matter that won huge awards. An example of a horrible movie that was full of lies & was so dry yet did so well was Fargo. What a piece of garbage that movie was. To me it kind of sums up how bad Hollywood & the movie industry is right now. Now while this is no Platoon or Man on Fire it was better than Fargo.

ATM (I) (2012)
7/10
Amazing mostly 1 location horror/scary film. Definitely a 7 to 7.5 & not a 4 or lower like others say.
22 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It was at least a 7/10 movie. The acting was solid as the characters felt real. At times you wanted to strangle that jerk friend of the guy who ended up with the girl and at other times you felt bad that these people ... ordinary people like you and I were going to die and all they did was go to an ATM to get a little money to get some food.

In regards to the bad guy the director of this film was able to have the killer be extremely violent & yet they showed little blood like the good old Halloween movies & yet the movie had tense and scary moments and was suspenseful.

The movie was shot mostly in 1 location (ATM building) & they were able to scare us, keep us in suspense & wonder if these people were going to survive. To me that has to be tough to do and it was accomplished.

How can people say it wasn't a good movie when they were able to have us think they killed the bad guy but then I (maybe others)started thinking it is cold out & maybe this guy just had the same jacket on as the killer & when it was confirmed they killed an innocent man just WOW! What a moment !

What about the ending where the footage basically makes it look like the last guy alive was the one who did all the killing possibly ? Can you say my God what a heck of a time he is going to have showing he didn't kill everyone ?

A very watchable film with a story line that is easy to follow and the acting was good and not like anything in a bad made for TV film or B movie.

How this movie didn't make more money and how people rated it a 3 or 4 out of 10 I don't know.

I think my taste in movies speaks for itself and my ratings are honest and fair and so I think I can truly say watch this movie and you will see that most reviewers have it wrong about this movie.

One of the best 3D movies ever with a decent story.
13 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The story while not perfect gets a 7/10 for me. It was easy to understand and entertaining. I agree with another poster on IMDb that they should have left the scene in where a child is supposedly almost cooked/eaten by a witch but Hansel and Gretel saved the day. Seriously how can that be left out ? I think this partial tie to the original story would have helped this movie. I honestly hope there will be a director's cut or uncut version out sooner than later that adds the deleted scene(s).

In terms of viewing this movie in 3D it gets an 8/10 or higher. There was no ghosting at all on my 3D TV and when objects came at you at times they made me jump or if they did not do then I definitely said, "Wow!" or "Cool!" .... SUPERB 3D ... a movie that any 3D TV owner needs to own.

In regards to the violence I felt it was creative and showed off how 3D really can be cool.

A movie that makes you feel emotions and moves you and makes you think.
6 September 2013
I am not a believer in God at this time but I just watched the Book of Eli and it makes you wish and hope that there is something better than this. A very powerful movie. Whether you are of faith or not this movie is a must see. It looks at religion from the believer's and non believer's view point.

My ex-fiancée tried to get me to watch this long ago but I would not because I lost my faith. I guess I wasn't ready to watch it then but was ready now. Maybe I hope there is something better than this place and maybe the hope I have buried down deep inside that there is a God and he does not like what is going on in this world will be shown to be true one day. My eyes will be opened.

Totally recommend this movie to others. I am so glad I finally saw it.

The movie had purpose despite what many would think.
13 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
What a movie like this does is remind us there are still sick people in this world and even though I wish we could wipe them off the face of this earth well you still have to follow some sort of justice system vs doing what Sheriff Wydell did. His rogue justice got himself killed. Now yes in the end the bad guys were eradicated but at what cost? Officers lost and the justice system was made a shambles of. A sheriff can't go into a holding cell and kill a woman when by law it is not allowed. There is no real justice in this and there was no real justice in what he tried to do later in the movie.

Also it is clear thought was given to how this movie played out as the soundtrack to it is one of the best ever and there was irony created when certain songs were played after certain events. I applaud Rob Zombie and whoever else was involved for getting this so right.

I also was thrilled with the way that the Rob Zombie wrote in light moments and showed that this family of killers still had the capability of enjoying some of the smaller things in life and also of course would die for each other. The point is killers were once kids and many killers are just like you and me but they made decisions for whatever reason that put them on the other side of the law. Yes there are killers out there with no conscience but there are many more that are more like you and I.

William Forsythe did an excellent job playing Sheriff Wydell. His character's strong will to see justice done whether it be done right or wrong was brought out strongly on screen. He should be very please with his performance in this role.

Leslie Eileen Easterbrook as Gloria "Mother" Firefly. She didn't over act like some would have in some of the scenes she was in and she just seemed so naturally able to convey how depraved an individual her character was. A tremendous performance throughout her entire time on screen.

I think with all the positives I have shared I will give this movie the highest rating I can give a movie that is not a classic all time great movie and that is a 7 so others might rate this even higher. I think the content makes one, including me, rate it lower than maybe it should be rated. I openly admit that. However then again there wasn't any tremendous dialogue in this movie that made you say wow and there were not those wow moments where you felt you hadn't seen this before so maybe my rating at 7 is right.

Anyway this movie was recommended by my brother for me to watch at some point and I am glad I rented it because it definitely was entertaining even if at times my stomach turned a bit early on.

Lockout (2012)
7/10
two genres and the movie was done right
13 August 2013
Sci-fi thriller/comedy done totally right. I would have rated it a 7.5 but I could not as the site does not allow adding .5 to a rating.

Duke Nukem, Bruce Willis, etc. all rolled up into one with Guy Pearce's character, Snow, and Joseph Gilgun's character, Hydell, definitely was the scary/comedic bad guy that I liked just as much as the Batman villains portrayed on screen by many good actors and as much as the main villain from the game Far Cry 3. Seriously if Joseph Gilgun did not get consideration for some sort of award for his performance I just don't understand it.

Story was a fun ride and the goofy humour was not corny in the way where it wasn't funny. This movie definitely made you chuckle which was what it was attempting to do while still stay as being an action flick.

Definitely worth a rental for anyone and it was good enough for me that I will be buying it. It is something different that won't likely have a sequel and is something I won't see in theatres often.

Not made for TV but not very good either. A movie you can watch but you wish for more.
9 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I rated this movie a 5 on IMDb. Basically there are 3 interesting parts ... the beginning of the movie where Jack Elgin, Jeremy Iron's character, loses his wife and daughter in such a horrid fashion which definitely tugs at your heart. I had tears from it. The second interesting scene was where Jack Elgin didn't know if he could trust Agent Jules Bernard, played by Forest Whitaker. Jack knew what he had done and that was do some revenge killings and he thought the agent was just looking to make him relax and confess or something of that sort but Agent Jules Bernard kept saying to him he could be trusted to help Jack. Some suspense came from that scene for sure. Lastly the final action scene where Davidson, played by Jason Priestley, thinks he is going to finish off Jack and the other guy in the car only to end up being blown up and engulfed in fire like Jack's wife and daughter were was some good justice. It could have been shot a little better but whatever.

A movie that is not in the category of a made for TV movie but it was pretty bland. I think the movie could rate lower and I may change my score one day but not sure.

Awful doesn't even begin to describe this film.
4 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Easily tied for worst movie I have ever seen and may be the worst. I thought the acting throughout was horrible other than what the people involved in the actual murder event did at the beginning and in later flashbacks. That was all that was good. The soundtrack to this thing awful. The lines the actors had to say at times simple, pathetic with nothing that would really grab you and I definitely think they were handicapped by the lines given to them but you could also see that some were just plain bad actors/actresses. I honestly can't believe they were given $6 million to make this garbage. This is easily tied with what I consider one of the worst films ever which was Freddy Got Fingered. The only good thing in that movie was the scene with Tom Green rolling around with a dead deer or something and that honestly I tried to laugh at but it was just creepy.

Seriously if I could give this film a zero I would.

Do not watch this even if it is given to you free which lucky for me it was as part of a rental deal at Family Video where I got 3 free movies for renting a video game mid week or something like that.

In regards to the title of this movie I can't even figure out why it is called this nor do I really want to spend any time figuring out why it is called that because who honestly cares when this movie is just so bad !!!!

Avoid this movie at all costs.

I would have given it a 1 but there was one laugh that was worth watching this film for ....
2 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I think overall really this movie should be a 1 but I gave it a 5 just because of the funny car scene where the guy tries to kick out the window and well hey if you've seen it done in movies well it shouldn't be too hard eh ha ha.

I guess watching a movie at times is just about having fun and there were some laughable moments but it wasn't enough to push this movie into the ranks of American Pie or anything like that. A really poor movie with a few laughs. I would have hated to pay to see this thing and wouldn't even say it is worth a rental to anyone. I saw it free on some website that streams video. Lucky me I guess but did I just waste 2 hours of my life ?

better than 1 yr and a half of trash that has been in theaters recently
28 September 2008
I talk about with my ex-fiancée how I enjoyed and used to go see movies and know there would be some good ones in the mix of what I saw at the theaters but for one and a half years it has been horrid but luckily while sitting at home late at night I caught much of the latter half of this movie. It is definitely worth a rental for someone and what is even better is that if there is some sort of special edition with Jeff Proebst talking about the movie he made well that would definitely be interesting. I wish the guy would show some guts and dump the money maker that is Survivor ,which is now only interesting if you are on the show, and make another movie. I think that attempt shows he has the talent to make something else. It was a real nice surprise to see that kind of ending and also a nice surprise to be shocked at who wrote and directed the movie.

The Goonies (1985)
10/10
The Goonies .... just a nice movie with a few chuckles along the way
7 September 2005
This movie brought back memories of pretending to be this and that as we played in the yard and at the neighbours around our home. We would imagine, pretend and if I was a treasure hunter in some respects I think this movie shows how I would go about doing it ... mistake after mistake I would make but somehow I'd keep my sights on a goal and wouldn't stop til I reached it.

Chunk had some funny lines including the one where he was asked to tell everything and he then proceeds to tell the bad guys his whole life story and then tells them the worst thing he did which was to pretend to barf and then he threw fake barf over the railing and it landed on people and it made everyone around that start barfing .... pretty funny life this kid had.

It was also interesting to see product placement in the movie as that was not a regular thing back then and only in the last 3 or more years has it become common.

I like the Chinese guy's gadgets and how they always seem to be flawed but at different points through the movie he somehow saves them from hurt or death but at the same time causes a few nerve-wrecking moments.

Anyway it was a fun movie .... better than what has come out of theaters this Summer of 2005 although Star Wars was pretty good ....
