Speechless.
24 March 2006
It wasn't totally awful, but I wouldn't tell anyone they have to see it. Its miss-able. First of all, I saw it today at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and its mad old. Half the cast are dead. The water and other "4-D" effects are stupid. The acting, writing...everything was pretty bad. The only thing that saved this attraction was Eric Idle. As always, he was wonderfully entertaining. The French accent brought me back to "The Meaning Of Life" waiter. Eric is that man, but I still wouldn't waste any more than a minute waiting in line for this disappointment, and even then it may not be worth the 15 minutes of sitting when you could be on a roller coaster.

One of the funniest films ever.
26 June 2005
"You're the cutest mouse in the joint." Its lines like that which make "The Youngest Profession" a classic. This is film isn't seen enough. I saw it the first time on TCM and was absolutely hooked. I'm a HUGE William Powell fan, and quite identified with a young girl's fascination with the debonair actor. Had I been a teen in 1943, I'd have been collecting autographs when stars were stars. Virginia Weidler gains a few John Hancocks by the end of the film which is littered with cameos by William Powell, Lana Turner, Greer Garson, Walter Pigeon, and Robert Taylor. This is a fantastically funny movie and if you're looking for something along the lines of "The Thin Man", "Bringing Up Baby" and other classics of the era, "The Youngest Profession" should quench your thirst.

Royal Deceit (1994)
A must for any Christian Bale fan.

I've been waiting so long to see "Royal Deceit" that I had almost given up hope of ever finding it at any video store. Then on-line film purchasing came along and all my prayers were answered. As I sat and finally witnessed that majesty and of the original Hamlet story, I couldn't help but be thoroughly moved by it. The leading players are marvelous, Christian Bale especially. I am a "Bale-head" and have seen every other one of his films. Everything the young actor touches deserves recognition as a work of true art. He only chooses the best subject matter and scripts. He should certainly be hailed as the best and most courageous actor of the millennium. A must for any Christian Bale fan, or for that matter any fan of true artistic film.
