Qi bu mi zong (1979)
Great Kung Fu flick
Classic Kung Fu, fairly fast paced choreography, great Kung Fu action throughout, especially the ending scene is a fan-honored fight of the 70s.
A ruthless white-haired general intends to take over a small town with the help of his posse, "The Five Hands Gang". A local tearaway and kung fu kid, Tiger, learns of their plot and informs his uncle Lee San Pai, master of the seven steps style of kung fu and sworn enemy of the Five Hands Gang. The old master instructs Tiger in the art of seven steps kung fu and together they tackle the white-haired general and the Five Hands Gang. A true classic that shook late night!
A ton of long fight scenes and some very creative choreography make this old-schooler a clear stand-out from the crowd.
Absolutely recommended to any Kung Fu fan! The top villain is marvelous, 8 out of 10.
Ditte menneskebarn (1946)
The life and tragedy of a young girl in poverty-stricken Danish country side in 1800th (I guess) century. A most touching and tragic black/white movie of timeless quality.
This is an most excellent movie about human destinies (and tragedies!) in old Europe when poor people were still poor people, centering on the life of Ditte, a young Danish girl in the countryside. Watching this movie is a heart-wrenching experience, and it is only too clear why this movie is conventionally observed to be one of the greats in international movie history, despite the "unpopular" black/white format. This is a remarkable and realistic view on life and European (read:white western) common history, the history of the poor people in the European country side, made while it was still remembered! This is an experience that will make you grow as a person. This is a must see film!
