I Am a Stalker (2022)
The decline of Netflix
There was a time when Netflix made and released powerful documentaries. "I am a stalker" is more evidence that the streaming giant is more concerned with quality than quality. I attempted to watch this, but after 15 minutes it was apparent that my high school media production class could do this. Essentially it was point and shoot at two subjects while they told their stories. No context was provided. It was horrible. Sadly this is the new Netflix documentary.make as many cheap documentaries as you can and force feed them to your audience.
The days of "How to Make a Murderer" and "The Tiger King" are gone.
The Last Rite (2021)
It's not the exorcist, but what is?
This was a very good story. It didn't rely on gory special effects or the cliche shocking ending of most possession films. I like that it combined sleep paralysis and possession. It was realistic and relied on psychological horror which is almost never present in this genre. I have watched countless horrible demonic possession flicks. This is honestly the best one I have seen since the exorcist.
Ignore the bad reviews. Most of the people who leave reviews on this site are just trying to be funny. Again, great story. The acting could have been better, but a solid script saved the day.
Hellier (2019)
A total farce
This was obviously fabricated by the filmmakers who supposedly receive a cryptic email from a man who is besieged by tiny aliens living in a nearby cave. The team quickly surmises through interpreting Aleister Crawley messages that there could be thousands of these critters living in the mammoth cave system. Their theory falls apart after searching for the author of the email only to learn that it was sent by rival ghost hunters who were punking them. Nevertheless, the brave team chugs forward and finds an abandoned cave that has a rusty can in it. This is huge because the rusty can is definitive proof that aliens are hiding in the cave!
A team member proves this by taping ping pong balls to his eyes to communicate with the aliens who reveal to him that they have big blue eyes!
It could be a comedy, but apparently these guys are serious. So serious that they closely monitor their Facebook page and remove comments that suggest this documentary was utter foolishness. And sadly that is what it is.
Unsullied (2014)
One saving grace
Normally, I would give a movie like this one or two stars because it's all been done before and it is obviously a low budget film. But the main character, played by Murray Gray, was fantastic. I honestly believe this actress is destined for greater things. She has the look of an A list star, an impressive physical presence, and excellent range. I would have stopped watching if it wasn't for her. She saved the film and made it fairly enjoyable.
