Die Höhle des gelben Hundes (2005)
Nice movie
The movie demonstrates a typical daily life of a Mongolian nomadic family in the vast steppe lands of Mongolia. The little girl Nansal found a little puppy in a cave when taking the dungs for her mother. Nansal and the little dog soon built a strong relationship with each other. She took the dog home but her father didn't allow her to have a pet. The family was suffering some economic hardship as the wolves attacked and killed some sheep of their herd. The father worried that the dog as being found in wildlife would have been born with some wolf trail and would decimate their livestock later. The twist of the story happens when the family moved to another region and left the little puppy behind. However, the father soon realized that his youngest son crawled out of the basket in the cart and left behind. He rushed back to the old place to find him. After being left behind, the little boy was unaware of the danger of vultures and approached them. However, the little puppy did come and scared the vultures away and hereby saved the little boy on time. After that, the father finally accepted to allow Nansal to keep her puppy with her.
The movie is a documentary-style movie with full of details of typical lifestyle of nomadic people. The old Mongolian folk songs were sung by the mother as lullaby for her son. The folk story that were told about "The cave of the yellow dog" by the grandma to Nansal. The nomadic living style of Mongolian people as the move to better place for their livestock. The traditional belief of nomadic Mongolian as they keep a little Buddha statue in their tent and worship it as well as their ancestors. People can also find in the movie the economic hardship of traditional Mongolian people who have to choose between sticking with the traditional nomadic living style or moving to city.

Nice movie
The movie tells two separate stories of two people. They are both from Shaanxi and take a long way to Fengjie to find their relatives. As they came to Fengjie, a 2000 year old city was going to submerge under water as the great Three Georges Dam was being built. Even though the media always tells great things about the Three Georges Dam, what the audience actually see is a dying town which is being demolished part by part. Along with the city is the destinies of poor people living here. People were forced to relocate and find another place to live and work. The movie is also very successful to depict the miserable living condition of poor people in the region. From here, another aspect of Chinese economic miracle is revealed as poor people find no way to get out of deadly spiral of poverty and have no choice but to move to other places such as Shaanxi to work as coal miners - a job as described in the movie can help them earn more money than their hometown but is also riskier as dozens of people die every year.
Another success of the film is the choice of music and songs that were played intermittently during the movie. In particular, the old song "Seung Hoi Tan" was used as a ringing tone for the phone of a local worker, perhaps as a reminder of old traditional value. On the other hand, "Mouse Love Rice" - a new rising love song at that time was singed passionately by the young kid marking the subtle transform in Chinese culture.

Nice movie
This movie is about the childhood friendship of five teenagers. The memory comes back as the radio man read an unexpected letter from an audience, which turns out to be the diary of his best friend. In retrospective, he recalls all nice memories of his long lost friendship. They had had fun time together - spending time in the beach, talking about future plans, rushing to local singing competition, and even stealing the boat to go to nearby island. The twist of the story happened as Soo OK, the girl with paralysis on one of her legs, longed too much for a surgery that could possibly cure her leg. Her relation with a local doctor who gives prescription for her paralyzed leg also affected the relationship with her friends. From that time, their friendship experienced complications with misunderstanding and heated arguments. The story eventually reach the climax when Soo OK finally followed her mother to leave her friends forever. I particularly like the main actor and actress in the movie. They act so well that I can even feel their inner emotional aspects in the film. The story about a long lost friendship in childhood is also appealing to me as it makes me remind my childhood with silly acts and having fun time with friends.
