Perverse
23 June 2014
Perverse - that's the only thing I can say about this movie. Only sick people would come up with a script like that and only sick people would like to watch it.

It's got absolutely no scare-value at all. The sexual references in the beginning of the film makes the whole movie appear like a movie for real life Hanibal Lecters who get sexual pleasure from watching people being tortured to death.

I don't have any issues with gore *per se*. It's not the gore in this film that disturbs me, but the thought of the people who enjoyed making or watching it. Gore can be scary, gore can contribute to making a story more exciting, gore can even be funny (bad taste, etc). In all those cases, the filmmakers are using our repulsion for gore.

This movie is using gore in the complete opposite way. We're supposed to take pleasure in it, and then it just becomes sick.

Decent action movie - nothing more
22 June 2014
What I want out of a horror movie is true horror - I want to be scared! Unfortunately, this movie didn't scare me at all. It may be a cult classic, beautifully cut, have great scores or casting, or whatever. I don't care much about that. At the end of a day, the reason I rent a horror movie is for it to scare the creeping heck out of me.

The movie has lots of humor. I don't know if the gore is just cheesy or if it was made to be humorous, but that's what it is, and I appreciated that. However - IT DID NOT SCARE ME! Zombie hordes that you can easily plow through with a gun or a baseball bat, and who only hurt you because of your own stupidity aren't scary. They become more like enemy soldiers in, say a James Bond movie. There's no excitement when you know the hero will kill dozens of them without getting a single scratch (apart from, in this case, when the hero does something really stupid, causing the punishment on him/herself).

So I give it a 5 star out of ten because of its entertainment value as a decent action movie, but if you're looking to be scared - which as I have pointed out is the reason why I watch horror movies - look for another title.

Not scary, not funny not interesting - not worth it
1 June 2013
This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen. I didn't even understand that it was supposed to be funny until I came here and saw the reviews. I just thought it was a crappy horror movie.

I'm the kind of person who go for the storyline first and foremost, and the storyline here is like a parody of Friday 13:th. Aren't parodies supposed to be funny? You've seen it before - a group of people is stranded in a desolate house in the middle of nowhere, and a serial killer takes them out one by one. Everyone in the house is so stupid that eventually you almost start to wish them dead.

Regarding the acting and directing. I don't think they were as bad as some of the other reviews suggest, but not even a team of Oscar nominated actors/directors could lift this script.

The only reason I give it two stars instead of one is that it actually made me smile a few times, and a reference to Sergio Leone near the end.

Love/hate
21 January 2013
This is a movie you either love or hate. If you like splatter movies with sick humor, you gonna love this one.

If you only watch high budget movies with good actors and expensive special effects, you will probably hate it. It's not supposed to be a high quality Hollywood production - it's made for fun. You get what you pay for.

I prefer the sequel, The Resurrection of Michael Myers 2, which was done in the same spirit as part 1. In part 2 you not only meet Michael Meyers (Halloween), but also Leatherface (Texas chainsaw massacre) and Jason Voorhees (Friday 13:th).

Excellent sick humor
21 January 2013
Don't believe the other review. This is good and very sick humor. It's such a funny film. Don't expect Hollywood special effects, but considering the low-budget of the film, some effects are pretty well done, like when they saw off an arm.

It's a movie of the same type as Bad Taste, only worse taste, worse actors etc, and sicker. You have to take the film for what it is. It's not supposed to be a high quality film, it's supposed to be funny.

If you're Swedish you will also appreciate the fact that Swedish celebrities Orup and Annika Sundbaum-Melin appear in the film.

If you don't like sick humor, don't watch it. If you, like me, love sick and absurd humor this cult movie is a must see.
