NCAA Football 2005 (2004)
Great game!
I got this game with the Xbox I received for Christmas...it's a great game and a lot of fun. I love the dynasty mode and I also like how you can edit rosters. The coolest thing about editing rosters that I haven't seen on other games is that if you give a player a common last name (mine is "Sanders"), the game's announcers and stadium PA announcer will say the name when appropriate.
Graphics and gameplay are strong on this game. The easiest level (Junior Varsity) is very simple to win on and is a great place to learn the game. Within a few games at that level, you should be winning games by very unrealistic scores. I have noticed the jump between Junior Varsity and Varsity is quite large. I played one season and won national championship on the junior varsity level. I played with the exact same team and exact same schedule at the varsity level and finished 9-3.
I really have no gripes with this game at all. It has been great fun and with the deep dynasty mode (recruiting and all), it will be played for a long time to come.
Tilt (2005)
OK ESPN...you have my interest.
I haven't been real impressed with many of ESPN's ventures into original movies or programming. I saw a couple of episodes of "Playmakers" but it didn't keep me coming back. "3" wasn't bad...neither was "The Junction Boys" but I absolutely hated "Hustle" and the "Season on the Brink". That said, I watched "Tilt" with guarded optimism.
What I came away with after the first episode is the interest to at least see the second. The character development seems very good and, already, you want to see the "Matador" (Michael Madsen's character) fall and fall hard.
Lots of casino action, suspense, even a bit of flesh appear to be the ingredients here...and my wife probably said it best when she said, "You definitely won't see this on Lifetime"...
Mean Girls (2004)
Good, but I recommend "Heathers"
I watched this with my wife, and admittedly, we're probably too old (33 and 32) for the targeted audience of this movie. We enjoyed this movie...I think "cute" is what my wife called it. Lohan is very engaging and a real treat to watch. I especially liked Tina Fey in this movie.
I think if you really want to see another set of mean girls, check out a movie that is a bit older, but a great example of black comedy (as in dark humor, not related to race) and that is "Heathers" starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. It's much more mean spirited than "Mean Girls" and decidedly funnier. Beware though, if memory serves me correctly, I think it garnered a "R" rating.
