Star Trek: Discovery: Point of Light (2019)
I don't understand, but I do
First off, I can get around the looks of the Klingons, but the prothetics are so thick, they all sound like they have a sinus infection. I even had to go back and listen again because of how muffled they were.
Second, this new Trek Universe lacks a Y chromosome. In the TOS Universe, there were alot of strong women and men. It seems now that there are only strong women and the men, including Captain Pike, cave when a woman offers advice. Amanda, wife of Sarek, is now an action hero? Come on.
Even the Klingons have taken a woman Chancellor. BTW, you have to call her "mother". A little over the top if you ask me. She gave up her family to pursue her ambitions.
I did like the idea of Section 31 (hence the 3 stars). I think a ruthless refugee from the Mirror Universe makes the perfect leader for this clandestine organization. Hope we see more of this.
I must be a glutton for punishment because I'll be back. But I do hope they find a cure for their lack of testosterone and the Klingon's chronic head cold.
A Christmas Tree Miracle (2013)
Good Movie
This movie has a great message. You could even look past the bad acting if it weren't for the horrible directing. I've never seen JW Myers' work before, and hope to never see it again. The constant frame change gave me a headache. Instead of developing a scene, he would just constantly frame the actors face while they talked, then snap cut to the next actor talking. It overwhelmed what was really a good movie.
The movie itself was very predictable, but aren't all Christmas movies.
You lose something, you learn the true meaning of life, you gain something. Plus, keeping the family together is a must, especially with Christmas around the corner. The best part is that the kids learn to respect something other than money. They learn that family and friends are the true wealth in life. Again, this movie has a great message.
