Children of the Corn (2020)
Just Not Right
The original Children of the Corn was the best period. This one had potential but fails to achieve the same level of creepiness the original had. It missed the crazed religious zealot aspect completely . The primary child just couldn't pull it off. She had more of a pouty petulant attitude. None of it felt cohesive. Then in the end all the kids were like "oh yeah we are okay again?" The scariest part of the original was that the kids killed everyone in such personal up close ways. This movie just seemed to fall short on every aspect. I had high hopes that it would more closely mirror the original in the same fanatic manner.
The Northman (2022)
Sadly lacking
The storyline seemed to fail at every angle. Like they didn't want to fully commit to anyone particular part. I had really expected more from this. This was a bigger disappointment than the end of GoT. SMH.
The Stairs (2021)
I couldn't look away like a bad accident
I should have turned it off 20 minutes in but didn't for some reason. Interesting premise but horribly executed. Terrible movie. Don't waste your time.
Hellbender (2021)
Unique Low Budget Indi Movie
Fantastic low budget indi horror. Great storyline on a witch movie. The actors were great. I hope to see them all in more movies together. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Well worth the watch.
The Cellar (2022)
Good movie!! Not great. But good. Solid 7
Not sure what some of the people who left horribly low ratings expected. It's a horror movie. It had an interesting take on the idea. It won't leave you a better person for having watched it but it was cool and had some creepy moments. Well worth the watch.
Horror Noire (2021)
Horror Anthology or Social Commentary
If the purpose was to be a horror anthology focusing on black actors they should have eased back a little on the racial focus. If the purpose was to focus on racial injustice they should have scaled back on the horror. It felt like it lacked as a horror anthology because the racial injustice was over whelming. The best story was the teacher/siren storyline. It had great potential but felt too conflicted as an anthology.
February (2015)
Underrated Horror
Great horror flick. You definitely have to pay attention as it moves forward and backward in time and switches perspective. It has some really chilling scenes. Kiernan Shipka does an amazing job and really channels the haunted and torment.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Good horror movie (based on books geared towards young readers)
What's with all the low ratings?! It is what it is. A campy horror film based off of RL Stines books geared towards young readers. If you watched it expecting an academy award earning movie you are going to be let down. It's a good movie.... Not great...... but worth watching.
