Love Never Dies (II) (2012)

A few plot additions for clarity would improve the story.
8 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I must first say that I wasn't thrilled with LND when I first saw it. I was comparing it to another show and it suffered for my bias. But I couldn't forget about it and checked it out a second time from the library. Seeing it long after I'd seen the other show, my eyes and ears were more open to this production, and I love it! Just a few plot points could improve it, though. Why would the Phantom wait ten years? Why would he have used an opportunity created by Hammerstein rather than creating his own? At one point he tells her to take the boy and go. Be free. But then he immediately goes to Raoul and places a bet with him. I believe this js because, instead of walking away, she promises to sing before she leaves and they both sing of their souls being whole and alive once more, and he decides that, while he's giving her freedom, he's still wants her to choose him and will do just about anything to give himself more of an edge. This could be clarified. Otherwise it looks like he told her to go and be free and then changes his mind. I would rather the ending have not been his fault, indirectly. He is a genius but he mentions Christine while trying to talk Meg down. And then pulls the gun towards everyone when trying to get it away from Meg, which results in Christine's death. I think my biggest issue is that she dies. I hate sad endings and they waited so long to be whole again. I just love Ben Lewis' portrayal of the Phantom but did think a little extra time could have served to explain things better.

Audacity (2015)

Astounded
16 July 2015
Like some of the one-star reviewers, I haven't watched the film yet, but I was sickened and astounded at the hateful comments and accusations of bigotry, which seem rather, well, bigoted. I like how some tried to hide the fact that they hadn't watched it by speaking as though they had. One person mentioned Kirk Cameron as one of the actors, only I have seen no evidence of Kirk in this, and another reviewer mentioned that he wasn't. Another said he was Christian but used words and language no Bible-believing Christian would use.

I admit, many Christians aren't focused on other sins as much as homosexuality, probably because they aren't being shoved in our faces so much. Believe me, I comment just as much on sexism, sex trafficking, pedophilia, sex before marriage(guilty!), drugs, racism, idolatry (guilty), abortion, etc. But in the mainstream, you probably don't hear about it, other than abortion, because it isn't a hot news topic. Plus, I've never seen a couple living together in sin sue a pastor for not doing a wedding ceremony for them as long as they were living together.

Anyway, one sarcastic reviewer facetiously jokes about choosing to suddenly be gay and not being able to stop. Apparently, she's never heard the many interviews from former homosexuals. I love the story of the lesbian who raised a daughter with her partner. When asked if the daughter was gay, she said yes. The audience was disgusted by this response, because how likely is it that this would actually happen if it wasn't by choice, statistically speaking? I can choose to be a liar or I can choose not to be, even if I want to our think it is just who I am. I can choose to use God's name in vain or I can choose not to. This works for any sin. Most importantly, I can choose to follow Christ and turn from my sin. That's what He died for. Don't be like those who spit on Him. Spit on me. Fine. He tells us we will be persecuted for His name, that we will be hated. If you hate Christians, you are just fulfilling scripture.

I can say I'm just wired differently and identify as black (like the NAACP director who was so recently attacked for doing so, while Bruce Jenner is being celebrated for doing essentially the same thing. What a hypocritical world we inhabit.) or I can choose to celebrate my own race. Something I've noticed, which I question, is why you still usually clearly see male and female roles in gay couples. Interesting, isn't it? You can choose to hate Ray Comforts films, but you show your true colors when you spew hatred of Christians and grossly misinterpret what we believe. Watch with an open mind next time, please. Love is not always your idea of love. Think of a parent and child. A child may rebel because a parent rebukes them and call it hate, but the parent loves the child and doesn't want to see tragedy strike the child. Love doesn't always mean acceptance of choices. Just unconditional love for the child.

P.S, homosexuality IS talked about in the New Testament. Please read Bible. I'm not being sarcastic here. Well, maybe a tad. Combining fabrics (linen and wool) was forbidden most likely because it was unhealthy. If you want to know why, see the following: Scientific Details of the Linen Frequency Study

In 2003, a study was done by a Jewish doctor, Heidi Yellen, on the frequencies of fabric. According to this study, the human body has a signature frequency of 100, and organic cotton is the same – 100. The study showed that if the number is lower than 100, it puts a strain on the body. A diseased, nearly dead person has a frequency of about 15, and that is where polyester, rayon, and silk register. Nonorganic cotton registers a signature frequency of about 70. However, if the fabric has a higher frequency, it gives energy to the body. This is where linen comes in as a super-fabric. Its frequency is 5,000. Wool is also 5,000, but when mixed together with linen, the frequencies cancel each other out and fall to zero. Even wearing a wool sweater on top of a linen outfit in a study collapsed the electrical field. The reason for this could be that the energy field of wool flows from left to right, while that of linen flows in the opposite direction, from right to left.

So when you think something in the Bible is stupid, consider that "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight." 1 Corinthians 3:19

Find Magic Agan in the World of Fairies
3 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie. I don't have kids, but I love so many movies for kids because many of them are safe for viewing and they hold a magic absent from adult movies. I didn't find this one to have those ever increasing double entendre jokes that are meant to entertain adults with their children. I also like that there wasn't a villain, unless you would consider the quickly approaching freeze line a villain.

I didn't find the dialogue cheesy like others have mentioned. I found the animation to be spectacular, the story simple and pleasing (who needs complicated stories anyway? We have enough of those in our own world.), and the characters vibrant. I did have two points of contention. First, the first Tinker Bell movie depicts winter fairies when Tinker Bell is born and then chooses her talent. One of them puts a snowflake in the talent circle. They seem to be fine and aren't in danger of their wings wilting. The minister of winter flies with other warm fairies outside of the winter woods and seems fine, too. As a reviewer elsewhere stated, how do they fly to the mainland to bring winter if they can't get warm? Second, there is a character who is a comic relief that seems like he was fashioned after pothead/stoner characters, which I don't like. At one point he is meditating yogi style to bring back the pixie dust. I would rather see a praying character, as they are rare, but as Disney doesn't eliminate them entirely from other movies, I'll hold my peace on this one.

Overall, though, I really liked this movie. I can overlook my points of contention because there is enough to redeem the film.
