N.H.K ni yôkoso! (2006)
It starts promising
Well, I finished this anime about 10 seconds ago, so my memory is still pretty fresh. I have to say, I wish this anime ended after 12 episodes. 24 is just too long because, basically, you see the same thing happening all over again all the time. It is a nice watch, got me motivated to do things, but the main character (Satou) is just not likable in any, and I mean ANY way.
The character development just stops at some point and you feel in the middle that it's just empty episodes, prolonging the anime and showing an endless stream of his "hikikomori"-condition (Being a total non-working nerd, basically) getting better and than worsening again. It's a pain. Sato's behavior is, for the most part, unbelievable. He is shown as a rather smart guy, but then he does the stupidest things. It appears to be just done for a laugh or two and it just decreases the quality of the anime.
The series strong-point however are in its serious episodes, like the "Off-Meeting" around the 12th episode. There you get a nice inside view into a hikikomori's life.
In conclusion, just watch it if you are interested in the social phenomenon of being a "hikikomori", but don't expect anything too logical. Towards the end.. it's more an obligation to watch it till the last episode.
Rick and Morty: Something Ricked This Way Comes (2014)
Wow, just WOW
I really can't believe it! So far, every episode has bested the one before and when you think it can't get better... This episode, like all the others, is just a nonsense-fest and everything just works out sooo beautifully. It doesn't hurt at all that this episode does not really display Rick and Morty working together as a team, but shows the two alternative duos, Rick and Summer, and Morty and Jerry, both story lines being absolutely weird and bizarre, just as you know them. Once again, the ending is really just perfect and every step on the way is pure fun. Jerry and Morty are really just two dummies together, witch is extra fun!
Sukippu bîto! (2008)
Well, I like the drama..
This is an anime that I feel very ambiguous about. There are some episode (about half of them) that are just pure fun. Characters develop and the drama unfolds perfectly.
But you have to know that this is an anime about acting. And for me, as an acting enthusiast the episodes that revolve around acting are, surprisingly, the worst ones. They try to appeal to people who have no idea about acting what so ever and repeat obvious facts again and again. The pace during the acting scenes is also kinda off, it just does not feel right.
Still, it makes you want to know more about acting and actors. If you haven't before, you'll start seeing actors as what they are - humans. That, combined with at times brilliant drama makes this anime worth watching!
GTO: Onizuka's Final Battle (2000)
Great, but not perfect
Wow, just great. This last episode managed to put (almost) every string together! It's an appropriate ending for one of the best anime out there. Every character get's his goodbye (Even Tomo-Chan) and in the end you fell like everything is how it should be. Almost. I'm just a little annoyed that they didn't make it clear, whether Fukutsuki and Onizuka got together or not. Yes, they want to avoid a cheesy ending, but that would have fit! Now, I'm left wondering. I don't like that at all, especially when it's just completely unnecessary.
The fact that Onizuka goes on to be a teacher at another school is something that I feel a little ambiguous towards. Of course, he has "done his job" and made his students feel happy one more, but still, you just want to see him continue teaching Aizawa and all the other students.
Still, all that aside, I liked the episode just like I liked almost every other episode. This is just a great anime!
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
It's good, but...
First off, I want to say that I like this movie. It's a genuinely funny movie. Often you find yourself still laughing at the last joke, when the next Punchline is delivered. I especially took a liking to the socially awkward Cameron who really makes this movie worth while with his constant negative thinking. I love the jealous sister who really wants to be more like Ferris but just does not feel like she could and I adored Charlie Sheen but still..
The movie is filled with situation that are just not really believable. Not considering some obvious but - hopefully - intended illogical situations like Ferris on the parade truck myself wondering whether or not those kids are just plain stupid. (Like sneaking behind Ferris father to catch a cab - they could just take the next one!)
The plot is completely predictable but that's part of the fun and for the most part is really was fun but those ten minutes that weren't just kinda spoiled the mood.
Friends (1994)
A Classic
I admit it. I haven't watched a single episode of Friends until two weeks ago. After watching some random episode I thought 'Hey! This ain't so bad', so I decided to give it a try. Now, two weeks later I'm halfway through season 9... I really got drawn into this show. You start to care for those six people like they were family. Each character has his own perks and flaws and that's why you start identifying with them. And with 3 guys and 3 girls there's really enough material to appeal to both men and women.
Even though I love the characters and the comedy, I can't give this show the full 10/10 because, after 7 seasons, plots are starting to repeat themselves, I especially got tired of the whole Ross & Rachel situation after a while. Also this show often contradicts itself. While in the beginning Ross has "only slept with one women" (His ex-wife Carol) somewhere in season 6 or 7 Chandler reveals that he slept with some cleaning lady in college which simply is not possible. Stuff like that happens quite a few times and I sometimes get the feeling that the writers forget to watch their own show. Those flaws really do bum me out and keep me from really 100% getting into this show.
Still great, 9/10.
