sublime beyond expectation
5 August 2023
This was an excellent film about the experience of online anonymity and how the connection one makes with a special some one in this way can be stronger than the traditional way. How long that connection can be sustained is another question. This however, doesn't take away from the fact that such experience will move you. This film does a fantastic job creating a vibe of introspection and transference that happens during online connections. The acting is fabulous, the soundtrack is a journey in itself. The director obviously had a good understanding of such experience and therefore how to bring it all together in a magical way, which is likely to be how one would experience this type of anonymous online connection.

Definitely not Fleetwood Mac
18 March 2023
Teenagers dreaming of making it big in the 70s live music industry. Teenagers meeting big producer and given a break, Teenager lead singer (40 years old actor) getting drunk, high, cheating on his wife, cliche, cliche and falling for another member of the band. The acting is disappointing, with an almost 40 year old lead singer pretending to be 20 while all the other members of the band are actually 20. It was hard to watch as the cast made it impossible to be credible. The soundtrack is so disappointing, considering the amazing sound of the 70s, this was not reflected in this series. This is definitely not Fleetwood Mac inspired Drama unless they attempted to make a Vanilla version.

A day in the shoes of a real fighter
16 February 2023
One of the best films I have seen this year 2023. A great example of a film with few words but a million messages through other means. A day in the life of Sarah who has OCD. An Oscar winning performance by Munro, an amazing script that keeps you hooked to this experience from beginning to end. As the day progresses and the protagonist tries to find the energy and optimism to make it another minute, let alone a day, dealing with OCD, I started gasping for air/oxygen to make it through the next scene. Like Sarah, the protagonist, I kept hoping that the obsession and the compulsion would not win. What a fight!

A star is born. great story telling
12 October 2022
The movie is stunning on location, the soundtrack transports you to this young girl's world, Her journey is about finding out who she is, where she comes from, and to feel connection. One night Varpu spontaneously goes on a date with a boy her age (she is 12 years old approx) in the middle of the night ,after not being able to sleep, He teaches her to drive in a stolen car but expects more of her than she is willing to give. Anybody would go back home, jump in bed, before being found out. This young girl, however, decides to go on a road trip alone, in search of her identity. Linnea Skog deserves an Oscar for her interpretation of this beautiful unassuming character. The writer, Selma Vilhunen, did a beautiful job developing the main character Varpu (the young girl) and directing this film about human connection.

Becoming who you are
7 July 2019
An excellent representation and framing of the idea of 'becoming who you are' that is referred to by many philosophers, especially Nietzsche. Guillaume shares an extraordinary insight into his own journey of becoming who you are, despite the tsunami of resistance from the external world, including family. While watching this film, one starts to gain insight into one's own experience of gaslighting by the world and that interrupts our personal growth. It is not easy to write, direct, and act without coming across as self-absorbed but Guillaume's approach and acting manages to make us feel part of his story, never alienating the viewer and making us want to learn more. It looks stunning, music is great, all supporting actors are fantastic. Brought a tear of joy to my eyes.

A multi dimensional and humanist presentation of Meredith Kercher murder
5 May 2019
I am glad I gave this film a chance and watched it til the end as I was pleasantly surprised with how it framed the murder of Meredith Kercher and its media coverage. The film manages to portrait the multi-dimensional aspects of the media, student life in Italy, and the various people affected by this crime. Most important and touching was that Meredith Kercher was given a human face and was not lost in the shadow of Amanda Knox's celebrity/villain representations provided in previous films/documentaries.

A story too long, little in return
17 August 2015
Quite a disappointing experience to watch this long disjointed film. You would not be blamed for believing you might be in for an epic telling of the U.S.S.R during Stalin reign of terror. However, it then moves to the telling of the heroic actions of a loyal red army soldier giving up everything he worked so hard for to save the life of his beloved.

As you have no choice, because by now you would have had invested over an hour in this film, you follow them on this random journey, you might hope this love story will lead you somewhere insightful or extraordinary. You aimed too high! because when you are about to settle down on this story it moves again randomly to the investigation of a serial killer in the U.S.S.R. This bit is based on the great film Citizen X, a famous real case that saw the introduction of profiling in this part of the world to assist in the the investigation of serial killing.

Once you realize this is where it is going you might as well save yourself precious time and get the real deal 'Citizen X'. I guess this is why this film is so long and chaotic, a manifestation of a very confused story teller who cant make up his/her/their minds which story they want to actually tell!

This makes you want to be a child again!
11 August 2015
I had no idea people didn't like this. It is shown on Australian TV every night at 1 am and I stay up to watch it.

Just think of the stupidest things that might go through your head but were too scared to act out! well, fear no more Rabbids are here to do it for you!

Each episode the Rabbids will share with the viewers silly moments we all envisaged or even cross our minds while sitting in boring meetings, pretending to listen to those who annoy us, etc. It is so universal that there is hardly any dialogue to follow, when there is dialogue the actions speak louder than words

It is important to also give the characters a chance, watch it a couple of times to get acquainted

So open your mind, sit back, and open your mind to the trip :)
