Le bal des folles (2021)
Breathtaking
This film was breathtaking from start to finish. Brilliant story, incredible acting, beautifully haunting music score. It was intriguing, and mesmerizing. One of the better films I've seen recently.
Persuasion (2007)
My Favourite book and Favourite adaptation
I have to disagree with others who say this was nothing like the book. Was it exactly like the book? No, of course not. As anyone who is an avid reader knows no movie is ever like the book exactly. All of the main elements of the book were in this film as was a lot of the dialogue.
This film had some strange camera work but I soon forgot about that. The acting was, in my opinion, amazing. This is a very sombre, heartfelt and charming film.
I also strongly disagree that there was no chemistry between Anne and Wentworth. I felt an immense amount of chemistry between the two and desperately wanted them together. The music, something which no one seems to be mentioning was so lovely. It captured the essence of the characters emotions and if a soundtrack was available I would buy it in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this film to anyone who is a Jane Austen fan, and who isn't put off by realistic kissing scenes...not all of them are picture perfect.
