Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The Infinity Saga arrives to its fitting act.
Best way to describe a three hour venture without recklessly diving into spoiler territory. The movie excels best at its central element of time travel, which is rather where the momentum is truly its natural best. The characters are all rounded, perhaps more so here than Infinity War. This is likely a fair take on what results now as a quadrilogy than a trilogy. When the action really gets to its peak level, it's almost effortless with the buildup doing every bit of the talking. The most curious turnout is the studio's first ever movie to be well over three hours, which to be frank could have succeeded with more than the overall result in this movie. Just a thought at hand, rest assured the pacing eventually comes to a fitting close that won't underwhelm the overall theme of what's termed the Infinity Saga. The emotion and depth really get to how things play out, also a bit improvised over Infinity War and in the viably greater ways. Got to lose a point for how it uses fan service done right as a sendoff to breeze through the buildup process up to the key parts that make this movie the ultimate conclusion it will be for a long time. My favorite of the Russo brothers' directed movies remains Civil War, simply because it was a Captain America movie of all the flicks back then that really pushed hard to reach a well deserved billion mark. This might get there a little too easily. Duh, but noteworthy. Give or take eleven years and twenty two movies, which as I mention is twice its bargain. Facing Thanos the second time really says something, which is likely all to consider about it.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The decade of a bar set high, if not higher. Had different expectations, just like others with theirs.
Avengers: Infinity war is a solid base foundation that wastes not an ounce of time in setup territory. Instead, the more relevant plan is just to do the things that the first eighteen MCU movies have long been leading up to, being a decade for that matter.
First up, the action is an absolute win factor that frequently elevates the movie in the direction it should be going right where it initiates. The script-writing with essential MCU humor remains intact as to be usually expected. Both the heroes and villains have their equal bargain of screentime. And to put the lackluster theory to rest, Thanos alongside the rest of his forces attributes to one of the more significant beings of villainy thus far. The cameos and particularly some eye-popping returns are perhaps the ultimate power up mid way through. It really does however feel as though the element that gets this ambitious threequel stirring along is the dynamics between characters typically as they encounter one another for the first ever time. Just when it seemed like the pace might be draggy and formulaic, it really wasn't. Only the shuffle might not necessarily have been executed at peak level.
Now just to make things fairly simple, the teamwork in every action scene is enough to keep you intrigued. The duration per action scene isn't quite as long enough, thereby making it seem that Civil War's airport battle remains the top tier contender for a well earned time being.
Spider-Man is great but it feels like his whole depiction works in the MCU more by weakness than strength. Comically, it works. But maybe his stakes could broaden up in the future. I get that there were plenty of others too.
The X-Men/ FF deal isn't here too soon for a live action crossover. Maybe now we'll relish the blast of the Avengers and Guardians together. Fair enough, I'd reckon.
The visuals felt breathtaking and genuinely on point.
What's with these trailer shots that don't make the cut anyway?
The adventure this movie sets foot upon doesn't weigh down the plotlines. Yet it would seem that characters exist, do their stuff. Maybe not as hugely as a collection as any wild expectation ought to get. Maybe Civil War was where the Russos timed the juggle right, and this time the priorities seemed like a shift from previous executions. It's thankful enough to say this movie didn't have any setback that made it suck. The sound editing is suitably good. The final act felt reasonable and delivered a fistful of Thanos mayhem. But I'd rather refer to this movie as a combination of heroes than a culmination of efforts. I'm already betting on the next Avengers movie to embark the grander way to prominence.
Oh yes, got to love the post credit scene.
In the end, Infinity War works as much as a teamwork crossover event as it does as a villain biopic depiction. It has enough contention of its own to rank its way to the top MCU movie depending on how you look at it. I haven't listed any spoilers, even though I pretty much read all I could before even watching it. Well, it's my thing as my criteria goes about knowing stuff beforehand and seeing how it plays out in the result. But others probably do not feel the same way so this is entirely spoiler free.
I'd hoped for a complete 10 star rating. I really did. The stakes couldn't be better. But I'm starting to think I miss Whedon's work.
Daredevil: New York's Finest (2016)
Beyond compare!
Oh boy, where do I start? After the unexplained conclusion to episode 2 with Punisher and Daredevil standing their ground after which they automatically disappear, I was beginning to wonder what game-changing attitude Frank Castle was up to, and this episode succeeds as a phenomenal creation of style and substance. Foggy Nelson gets a very defining attribute to his character and it was interesting to see Daredevil and Punisher face-off both verbally and physically. And yes, the one-shot successor has finally arrived and is guaranteed to surpass even the wildest of expectations. Still no Elektra or Wilson Fisk (If he is rumored to return this season) but the show has already arrived to its masterpiece level of complex storytelling and gritty violence!
10/10, I wish I could rate it a lot more!
Daredevil: Dogs to a Gunfight (2016)
Sustainable, even if it revisits some of Season 1's encounters.
While I previously stated that Episode 1 fueled the season with a whole lot of potential, episode 2 delivers on an entirely fair scale for enough entertainment, yet it tends to borrow some plots of Season 1, starting with Cut Man, where Matt Murdock is wounded pretty bad and found in a dumpster. This time, he almost gets taken out for good, except that Foggy finds him on a rooftop in broad daylight. The chances of not being compromised are nearly impossible but what puts the jigsaws back in the puzzle is the ongoing dynamic between Matt, Foggy and Karen. This episode is more attached in story mode as they escort Grotto to safety and try to nail the vigilante behind the attacks for good. Foggy's dialogue or monologue against Reyes is sure to set the benchmark. Jon Bernthal on the other hand gets a bigger role to play in this episode and the second faceoff between Daredevil and the Punisher does not disappoint, but then again, the creators of this show discussed something related to topping the hallway fight in Season 1, Episode 2. So I was kind of hoping this would serve as the worthy superior but that's unfortunately not the case. Regardless of that, we still have eleven episodes for discovering what else they have in store.
8/10
Daredevil: Bang (2016)
Suspenseful in every sense of the word!
As already expected, this episode picks up where the first season left off with an incomplete but suitably proportionate ending. Character development seems mostly intact and better than before, along with catchy phrases and new additions. Jon Bernthal nails the Punisher with only a brief appearance and the amount of high stakes action is sure to live up to the hype as usual. There is still some occasional cheesiness (for a really short time) but the suspense is worth sitting through. All in all, this is a promising start with the utmost potential to evolve into something bigger!
9/10
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand.
This is what I might consider the best superhero sequel yet. It is a lot more firmly directed and outdoes the original like never before. It is also partially an expansion of the origin story in Peter's illusion. This movie in my opinion outdoes even X2, which was promising in almost every aspect it had to offer. The awesome thing about Marvel is that they actually represent the inherent silliness of the comics, something I'd pretty much like to see in every superhero brand. Here are some of the best features of Spider-Man 2.
1. Peter loses his powers so that he is so much easier to relate to as a person. Character development was seemingly a top priority in this movie, a faithful adaptation of Spider-Man: No More.
2. The songs were perfect. (Hold on and Raindrops keep falling on my head, or even the one in the credits.)
3. Doc Ock was a villain with believable motives and considerably more mature than the Green Goblin.
4. At first I thought it lacked action but then the damn train scene changed everything!
Now that SONY and Disney have collaborated with each other to make a version of Spider-Man linked to The Avengers, I sure do hope they top this masterpiece!
Spider-Man (2002)
Courtesy, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
As a die-hard fan of Spider-Man, I'll start by saying it still has its comic based charms and connections after 13 years. It might seem a bit cheesy at times but that's no big deal, all prequels feel the same. Spider-Man was one of the few awesome superheroes back then, along with the X Men.
Comic book adaptations: 9/10 (The only freely adapted thing I suppose was his natural webbing, other than that, quite spot on.)
Characters: 9/10 (I guess an argument can be made that Andrew Garfield is a better Spider-Man/ Peter Parker. Still, Spider-Man 1 and 2 haven't worn off yet with an 89 and a 94 on Rotten Tomatoes. Tobey fits in pretty well, along with the rest of the delightful cast.
Soundtracks: 10/10 (Danny Elfman's soundtracks were essential and promising)
Action: 8/10 (They were pretty impressive, but it's still just the prequel, it does have a lot of potential though.)
Origin story: 10/10 (I could easily relate to it, it was damn near perfect)
Overall rating: 8
Iron Man (2008)
Ironically awesome!
A great kick-start to the Marvel Cinematic Universe full of awesome action, awesome visuals and awesome characters. This is one movie that cuts to the chase in a manner that can entertain comic and non comic fans alike. Moreover, Obadiah Stane finds the fact that Tony gives the world its best weapon ever by trying to rid it of weapons really ironic. Well that isn't all that meets the eye, trying to order a hit to have Tony killed leads to Obadiah building a hero out of him, which is even more ironic and awesome at the same time. Heroes aren't born, they're built. Moreover, what this movie did different was that it skipped the origin story and started with the important part. Director Jon Favreau and actor Robert Downey Jr put in their best to satisfy the audience in this action packed, must watch comic book movie.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
Dad, what are we? We're a team!
Without doubt the most exciting new series of 2013. Here are some of its best features:
1. It tells us more about Agent Coulson's life. 2. It is filled with relationships. 3. It is linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 4. Ithas a hell lotta hidden potential. 5. It creates an epic showdown between S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. 6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was an epic blockbuster movie, and so was Episode 17, which was linked to it. Marvel sure does know how the game works. 7. It continues the plot that started in Marvel's The Avengers. 8. Here's the best feature of them all...it was made by Joss Whedon!!!
Can't wait for Season 2 to release!
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
The Dark Knight that was never meant to rise.
Having watched The Dark Knight and being relatively satisfied despite the fact that I don't quite enjoy DC movies, I moved on to watching The Dark Knight Rises, after which I was hugely devastated! Let me just add the main reasons:
1. What kind of city sends every single cop down the tunnels when an issue takes place? I mean, that's just retarded! What if something happens to the city after that?
2. Selina Kyle and Miranda Tate make the weirdest entrances ever and somehow, they know more than every single person in the movie just to add the climax and stuff.
3. Bruce Wayne returns as Batman even though he isn't in any position to fight crime. Well. at least he stood up for Gotham. But the plot twists just screw up the entire thing!
4. This movie runs for 165 minutes out of which Bruce Wayne is Batman only for some 33 minutes. 5. Bane keeps the police captive, yet does nothing to kill them. Also, even after staying underground for months, they're all somehow still in position to fight at the end of the movie.
6. The ending was more like World War III between Selina Kyle and Miranda Tate.
7. Batman never comes out at daytime, and director Christopher Nolan totally ignored that.
8. Yeah, I admit The Dark Knight was legendary, but this sequel does full injustice to it.
9. There was literally NO WAY Catwoman could have shot Bane and saved Batman at the end, for she couldn't have gotten through the crowd from where she was at the scene before the scene she took out Bane.
Somehow this movie still has certain good action moments followed by Hans Zimmer's legendary soundtracks.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
The definition of a masterpiece!
Whoa, this movie is undoubtedly spectacular! A must watch for all Marvel fans! Anthony and Joe Russo have done a really decent job in making this movie. The apparently considered good guys in the beginning of this movie eventually turned out to be the bad guys! Well at least I didn't have to hate them, for they were like the bad good guys! Also, this movie reminds us of many incidents that occurred in Captain America: The First Avenger, the first movie headlining Captain America. So this way, we get back on track and don't literally associate this movie with The Avengers, expect maybe when it comes to Project Insight. Well, as of my opinion, both The Avengers and Captain America; The Winter Soldier are equally awesome! This movie was perhaps the best thing that ever happened after The Avengers. The ending was sensational and logical! The whole cast was entertaining. Plus, the theme song literally rocks to the core! Moreover, the action was unquestionably one of a kind! Even if you don't like the story, there's a hell of a lot more to enjoy!
