The Irregulars (2021)
I'm at a loss for words
People are giving this show 1s and 2s for a rating because the color of some of the actors skin. They're being open about it. It doesn't make sense to me. Were there not Asian and Black people in London during the Victorian time?
This show is beyond entertaining. The acting is fine, and the concept is unique. I'd watch a second series and be happy to do it.
Tiny Pretty Things (2020)
Yikes!
Every! Single! Character! Sucks! I've never seen a show with this many awfully written humans. Why did I watch every episode? I gave it a 3 because somehow they made the dancing look really good
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Wow...
How are we supposed to take a character seriously when she has the emotional depth of a drunk toddler.
Cass acts so unbelievably stupid in the days after the murder. It's also unbelievable that every person in Cass's life wouldn't think she killed that guy. It takes until 15 minutes into the second episode for Cass to make a good decision, she then immediately starts to make bad ones.
This show insults your intelligence at every single turn.
I'm out.
Teenage Bounty Hunters (2020)
Kinda surprised
So this show makes me laugh a few times per episode. It's pretty fun and the sisters are really likable. Don't go into this expecting the drama of Chernobyl.
The Letter for the King (2020)
Something not being identical to the book doesn't mean it's bad.
I repeat, something not being identical to the book doesn't mean it's bad.
Book readers that review movies and TV shows are the absolute worst. As seen here in these reviews.
This show is pretty entertaining so far. A rating of 1 or 2 is reserved for trash like the room and clowns from outer space.
The Outsider (2020)
You already know
This cast, this source material! It's fantastic so far.
Knives Out (2019)
Really good with one plot problem.
I loved the movie but the big problem I had was that the maximum amount a paid care taker can be bequeathed is $50,000.
Other than that it's a fantastic whodunit.
See (2019)
Some folks don't understand evolution
Show is great, action sequences are amazing, and so far the story seems pretty original.
And for folks saying how unbelievable it is that these blind people are doing the things that they do, it makes perfect sense. Humans have been without sight for a long time. From an evolutionary stance, other senses would heighten over time. You know, kinda like every animal with bad or no sight. Read a book people, you may learn a thing or two.
Regionrat (2019)
Hidden gem
RegionRat is a raw, gritty, original, and dark story about growing up in the Midwest. Director Javier Reyna makes you forget that he was working with an extremely low budget. You'll see dozens of movies with ten times (or more) the budget of this movie that aren't shot half as well. The cinematography, acting (mostly by newcomers Connor Williams, Natassia Halabi, And Harry Holmes) and story are all outstanding. I watched this movie in the area known as "The Region" which is where the film takes place, in a packed theater with the author of the book. The movie was accepted with applause and a standing ovation. I look forward to seeing more Mr. Reyna, Williams, and Halabi in the near future.
Baegabondeu (2019)
Michael J Fox is a camera man?
One of the reasons the raid: redemption, the raid 2, Ong Bak are amazing action movies is because of the steadiness of the action shots. There nothing worse in an action/martial arts scene than shakey, over edited, multiple camera cinematography. I wanted to like vagabond. It had great potential. The characters were great. So was the acting and story. I couldn't continue after the third episode. The action/fight scenes were unbearably shakey and overedited. I'm not talk about the Borne franchise shakey, I mean the cameraman was having an epileptic fit, whilst sitting on a jackhammer. IT... WAS... TERRIBLE! Who thinks this is a good idea? Who thinks this makes for good action? Stop it! Stop it now. I couldn't believe how bad the camera shaking was. Can't see what's going on in the shot. Do better!
Equity (2016)
Failed attempt at being witty.
This movie was terrible, first and foremost. I can't begin to cover all the reasons, but I'll go over a few.
Anna Gunn's character is absolutely horrendous. I believe that the writers tried to make her this strong, independent, taking on the boy's club type. But ultimately just gave us scene after scene where your hatred for her grows. She treats her subordinates like absolute trash. It's embarrassing to watch. There's actually one scene (I swear I'm not making this up) where she screams at the top of her lungs at one of her underlings that "there's only 3 mother f@+king chocolate chips in my cookie!". It gets worse than that. She refuses to pay one employee her much deserved salary. She debates firing an employee for being pregnant. She's just awful. I felt like the writers wanted you to somehow look at her abominable behavior as being a tough, go gutter of a woman. This movie was LITERALLY anti- feminist.
Another one of this movie's many issues was the ridiculous way people just trick other people into saying things they know they'd go to jail for saying. One scene consists of a district attorney using her "feminine whiles" to trick an educated man into believing that they'd met before and exchanged illegal information. She uses alcohol to get further information out of him. Anyone who's seen 2 or more episodes of law & order knows that's illegal (I looked up the law just to be sure, yep, it's illegal). This isn't the only time a brief conversation is used to convince someone into committing a crime.
Finally, for the sake of "cutting to the chase". Every man in this movie is either a user of women, incompetent, or a douche-bag. At the start of the movie it does give you the impression that it would be a film about a strong woman but just ends up being a step backwards for women.
Oh and Anna Gunn's acting is far removed from her performances in Deadwood and Breaking Bad.
In short, skip it. I didn't like this movie. If I were a woman, I'd despise this movie and actively try to get it removed from existence.
Roadies (2016)
Worst show I've seen in years
This show is so terrible that I decided to wrote my first IMDb review.
Where to start? I guess from the beginning would be best. Firstly, the constant name dropping on the show is abominable. Every character in every episode drops celebrity musician names. Everyone from skynard to Gwen Stefani. Secondly, every episode also Contains random people Luke Wilson used to hang out with talking about just how WILD and CRAZY he used to be when he was a drunk. That particular actor might be the least likely person to have us believe was ever such a wild uncontrollable heathen. Also, they worship these music acts that make cameos on the show as if they were the God damn Who (which they name drop the Who in an episode or 2). These no name hacks couldn't sell out a Starbucks, let alone an area. Every single one of these minor characters is written as some kind of philosopher. It's horrendous. They all have to give speeches about the "deeper" meaning of things. You also can't watch an episode without really really wanting to inflict all kinds of bodily harm to Wes. The clueless sycophant that kiss the asses of all the washed up has beens that grace the show from time to time. There's 2 love stories going on, neither of which are that interesting. The only likable character on the show, the rest of the characters make out to be the asshole. Look, I could go on and on but I shan't. I'll finish with a, I can't believe Abrams and Crowe would ever attach their good names to such terrible garbage. The writing is awful, the characters are insufferable and the idea that the writers insult everyone's intelligence is a giant insult to roadies everywhere. I personally know roadies, they're not this. Not by a long shot.
