Arnold (2023)
Surprisingly interesting and impressive
Really well produced and presented. I never expected Arnold Schwarzenegger to be so interesting and his life story so compelling. Throughout, he is an entertaining and genuine host on the journey of his extraordinary and almost beyond belief life. An unexpected gem.
Interesting cameos by people in his life, such as Director James Cameron. He comes across as very straightforward. His indomitable spirit and work ethic is palpable. How he rose to the peak of the body building world from humble beginnings is quite remarkable and a testimony to his strength of character.
Hopefully this is now long enough for imdb!
A Christmas Carol (2018)
You need to see this!
Truly majestic performance of the classic A Christmas Carol! Mesmerising and visually beautiful. Simon Callow is exceptional. It's only 72 mins long, so an easy watch for all the family. Enjoy! 🌲
My Dinner with Hervé (2018)
Tour de force...
An exceptional story and film. Peter Dinklage is a tour de force with an incredible performance as the 50 year old Hervé. The voice he created and the pathos were striking. The.vignettes of 'Man with the Golden Gun' and 'Fantasy Island' were superb and very cleverly recreated. Dinklage's transformation is so believable. Jamie Dornan is excellent, if not outstanding. My only criticism, which lies more with the creator/writer/director Sasha Gervasi, is that there is too much focus on the journalist's story, his back story etc. Overall, a rich story, superbly told, of cinema quality. Enjoy!
The Cat from Outer Space (1978)
My favourite movie as a kid
When I was 7 and saw this movie I absolutely loved it! So much so, that from that point onwards every time I liked a movie my dad would ask "But was it as good as The Cat from Outer Space?" The answer was always no!
I'm sure I'd find it daft now, so many years later, but it was such a fun little film back in the late 1970s. Happy memories :)
Breaking Bad: One Minute (2010)
Frustrating, then brilliant
I was so cross about a ridiculous decision Walt makes about Jesse - given his total unreliability and stupidity - that I was planning to give this episode a 7. But then the last 5 minutes were spectacular. It's such a phenomenal show, and even though Walt makes some terrible decisions, the acting and writing are superb. And if Walt didn't keep saving Jesse I guess there might only have been 2 seasons and everyone could have lived happily ever after 🤷♀️ So I reflected on it again and had to give it a 10. 👏
Ozark: Fire Pink (2020)
Stunning episode with only a minor criticism
This episode is a blinder in an exceptional programme and excellent third series. The writing, characters and acting is top class. This episode in particular is superbly written, filmed and the acting by Tom Pelphrey and Laura Linney is off the chart good. The stuff of awards and Masterclass. My criticism, and this may be more a directorial issue, is the acting in this particular episode by characters Marry and Helen. Marty should have been demented with fear and Helen verging on apoplectic - but they weren't. It was odd and a glaring mismatch in this episode to the circumstances. It also didn't chime with these actors' solid portrayals of the characters in general. Hence my thinking it's an erroneous directorial steer. This is the only reason I haven't given it a 10/10. It should have been an 11 as the storyline, and all other aspects are so particularly outstanding.
The Outsider (2020)
Appalling waste of time! 😩
Don't be conned by the the first episode having a good cast and being quite intriguing... that's the last you'll see of that!
It's an utterly exasperating production that has been dreadfully brought to TV. I'm amazed HBO's name is behind it. It's painfully slow and has an incoherent plot. It shamefully tries to explain the title of the series in the last 20 seconds.
Utterly dismal - don't waste your time!

Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Bloody awful!!! 😫
Too tediously bad to waste any time reviewing. Just a soap stand for Kenneth Branagh's posturing and beyond funny moustache 🙄
