Mean Girls (2004)
Better than what I expected!!
When I saw the trailer of Mean Girls in the cinema I said that I would never see that movie in my life because I thought it was stupid. The other night I saw it on TV, because I wanted to know if it was so bad than what I had thug's, and I realized I was very, very wrong. Mean Girls is a great teen movie, and is a good picture of teenager's world and life in high school. The movie tells the story of Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan), a teenager who used to live in Africa and used to be home-schooled. But when she moves to America with her parents everything in Cady's life changes, she meets girl world. In her second day at school she meets Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and her group, the plastics, but she makes the mistake to fall in love with Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, and when she realizes about it she takes Aaron back. So Cady, along with her friends Janis and Damian, start the revenge plan. Great movie, great screenplay by Tina Fey (I hope I will watch more movies based on screenplays written by her in the future), great performances. Don't miss Mean Girls. Score: 8/10
Election (1999)
One of the best movies of the 90's!!!
Election shows what a person is able to do for winning, have power, and do what she wants. The movie tells the story of a successful teacher, Mr. Mc Callister, who really cares about his students, but hates one of them: Tracy Flick. After Tracy postulates for president, Mr. M presents another student for president: Paul Metzler. After this, Paul's sister, Tammy, postulates for president too. That's because she wants to revenge from Paul since he's dating Lisa, the girl that Tammy loves. So, what started as a simple election finishes as a real battle; and Mr. Mc Callister life finishes ruin after trying to cheat on his wife, Diane. Great satire about power relations. Great performances by Matthew Broderick as Jim Mc Callister and Reese Witherspoon as the neurotic Tracy Flick (She deserved a nomination to the Golden Globe as Best Actress in a movie Comedy/ Musical in 2000 for this role). This movie is a total must see, so don't miss it! Score: 10/10
The Full Monty (1997)
You can leave your hat on, baby!
This story is about six men, Gaz, Gerald, Dave, Horse, Lomper and Guy, without nothing lose. After a lot of time without job and without money they decide to become strippers and do "the full monty", just for one night. After days of practicing, they overcome all their problems and prejudices and give the show in front of all the women from the city. Tjis is one of the best movies from the year 1997, and one of the best British comedies ever. Great performances by all the actors, especially from Robert Carlyle who plays Gaz, the man who is the leader of this group of desperate men. Excellent, excellent, you can' t stop laughing. My score: 10/10
La niñera (2004)
Not the original, but...
This TV show based on the American sitcom, The Nanny. The story about a woman who, selling make up, enters in the life of a millionaire as his children, as their nanny. This version is not like the original and, of course, is not better than the American nanny, because they have cut it and they haven't shown all the episodes like in USA did. Although of all this, the show is not very bad and Florencia Peña's performance as the nanny is not bad. Carola Reina's performance as Tete, Juan Manuel Iraola's partner is very good too. But who takes all the applause is Roberto Carnaggi, who plays Fidel, the family waitress. The show makes you laughs, is funny. If you like the American "The Nanny", you have to watch this good remake. Score: 7.5/10
The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996)
Great, great, great and very sweet movie!!
The Mirror has Two Faces is a very beautiful movie, directed by the brilliant Barbra Streisand. It tells the story about Gregory, a math teacher at Columbian University, who doesn't believe that sex and love should go together, that's the reason why he meets Rose, because he wants a relationship without sex. When they get married Rose needs to feel different things but Gregory does not want to have sex with her, so Rose decides to change his appearance for her husband, but she does not know that Gregory loves her just in the way she is. Beautiful love story, about human relations and that you discover that you love someone when is far. Great performances from Barbra Sreisand who plays a wonderful Rose Morgan, who doesn't believe in her real beauty, and Jeff Bridges who plays the professor who is not interested in sex, Gregory. Without doubts is one of the best movies from 1996 and is one of the best romantic films ever, because it shows very well the real mean of love, that it is stronger than another things without importance. If you love Barbra Sreisand's movies, and good love stories you have to see "The Mirror Has Two Faces". My score: 10/10
Futurama (1999)
The worst show ever!!!
Futurama is the worst show that Matt Groening could create. It's not funny, and it can't be compared with the excellent show that The Simpsons are. The Simpsons is the best show ever, and Futurama is a bad intent of doing something different. I know that Matt Groening had wanted to end The Simpsons, that's why he created Futurama, but he saw that Futurama didn't like as The Simpsons had liked, so he continued doing The Simpsons. In Argentina Fox stopped showing Futurama, because people didn't like it so much, like happens with bad TV shows. I think we should thank to Matt Groening because he continued doing The Simpsons, because if without The Simpsons we are going to see series like Futurama, We will not have a very shining future.
Unfaithful (2002)
Great movie, great performances!
Unfaithful is the best film that Adrian Lyne has done since he started as a director. I have seen some of his movies and I think that Unfaithful is his best work. The story is similar to Fatal Attraction's story, but Unfaithful is better than the another film, because it is centered in the drama and the suffering that Connie feels and the suffering that Edward feels when he has discovered the truth. Olivier Martinez plays an excellent Paul Martel "The lover" who offers her sexual things than anything else. Fatal Attraction in centered more in Alex Forrest's madness (Glenn Close) and in the dangerous suspense that makes them live, Unfaithful shows the dramatical part of a marriage that stars not to work very well and the suspense part when Edward (Richard Gere)goes meeting her wife's lover, but it doesn't finish very well. In this film you can see a wonderful Diane Lane who takes all the applause with her performance of Connie Sumner and received a very deserved nomination to an Academy Award. A great Richard Gere in the best performance of his all career, and Olivier Martinez who has played very well the character of Connie's Lover. In the poster, if you look at it very carefully, you can see Connie's feelings represented by the darkness and the lightness that you see. If you like good dramas and Adrian Lyne's movies you have to see Unfaithful. My score: 10/10
