Cipher (1989)
Winning Tough
I like people try hard at something, like the hero, he have twin ever since he could remember, like a habit.
While I've been in this world since I was real small, so I think I'll, I could understand all the troubles and joys he went trough.
Warau Salesman (1989)
Filling Souls since 1989
The main strength of this show is not character progression or depth, but variation on a strong formula that is present in each episode. An individualistic problem, such as a character flaw or personal crisis of a stranger puts the main character Moguro Fukuzou, in position to "Fill Their empty Soul". This formula is used in nigh every episode. The type of problem and how the Stanger deals with it are the variation that keeps the show interesting from episode to episode.
Moguro Fukuzou, acts not only as the catalyst for the story, but as the main comedic relief of the show, in a very eerie creepy manner.
If your interested in watching Laughing salesman, I recommend trying out 4 random ones and if you aren't captured by anything in them then you won't like the rest of it.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (2003)
You will love it or hate it.
I've only watched the english dub and haven't read the manga, so this review is solely focused on the aspects of the american adaptation of the show and not how it relates to other source material.
This show is an abstracted comedy parody of mainly:
1. Other anime series produced anythime up to 3 decades before this show.
2. Dealing with modern everyday for kids and young adults life.
3. Pop culture of the 2000s and prior 2 decades.
Bobobo absolutely never takes its self seriously. It goes for lots of cheap fast jokes, slapstick comedy, a type of schizophrenic "thats so random humor" that after viewing more than 10 episodes, will show some relatively constant theming. The characters inhabit a fantastical adventure world where everything seems possible and sentient being's imaginations can bend reality to their will. Since this fantastical world is established from the start of the show, a large part of the comedy comes from very mundane real world experiences, things and places showing up during fantastical events. How well the writing intertwines the normal, the ridiculous, and references to other media outputs the quality of the humor.
If your thinking of giving this show a try I suggest watching up to the 21st episode; if you enjoyed it up to this point you'll like the rest, if you didn't, the flow or the type of episode progression is not going to change much for the next 55 episodes.
My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2009)
Here Comes The Sun.
It doesn't come together well; a boring watch with some funny nonsensical quotes and scenes sprinkled in throughout. The directing is surprisingly bad for most of the movie and Michael Shannon Delivers a better performance than the script deserves.
Devil's Express (1976)
3/10 (The Last 3 Minutes Are The Only Part You'll Want To See)
This seems like footage from what was 2 bad films cut together badly to make an even worst film. Warning for those who were peaked by the synopsis, 99% of the movie is not about the demon.
Yellowbeard (1983)
There Will Be Rape Jokes
This movie is an amalgamation of plenty of classic pirate stories and cliches. There's some treasure island some blackbeard some old B pirate movie tropes. A pretty witty, very british movie, in the vein of Monty python productions. Only would recomend to people who have nostalgia for old pirate films and stories.
Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991)
An East & West Toilet Flush
Catching this movie randomly on tv is like walking into the bathroom of a crappy Asian fusion restaurant. All the stalls are full, save one in the middle. In the stall, noises of distant muffled electric guitar, clamor from the dining area and the labours of its neighboring occupants sing through the dirty air. In the basin, twin rock solid turds float on the still water's surface, one flick of a lever and the abandoned brothers swirlingly descend out of sight and mind, forgotten but not forgiven, freeing space for future sons.
Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
Spray and Prey
On over inflated parody of high octane gun play movies makes for a movies rich in cheap jokes and gun gags, but lacking in its own personality and humor integrity.
Maybe I'm being overly critical, but if this movie had just a little better comedic timing, and faster constant pace, it could have been something special.
Vampire Hookers (1978)
"It's Not Murder, It's Dinner"
This film is almost never funny intentionally. All the laughs come from the rushed dialogue, the odd pauses and fast responses, the awkward cuts and the I don't really give a crap about this shot attitude present in 80% of the movie.
Is the acting bad?
The worst.
Is the Story bad?
It's Vampire Hookers, the story is the title, if you don't want a laugh at that idea don't watch this movie.
Fart Jokes Included.
Bigfoot Ate My Boyfriend (2016)
Eh?
All amateur actors so you can't fault them for their performances. There are one or two gags that are actually funny and have a shred of comedic timing. The main thing wrong with the film is that it's so painfully slow and has an excessive amount of unnecessary scenes.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
It's Such A Long Way Down
Peter Hunt does a great job making the action scenes stand out from not only the rest of the film, but also of all other 60s Bond iterations. Bond doesn't use as many convenient gadgets, He actually comes up with solutions from everyday things. The ways Bond acts and the things he does make him seem deadlier and more trained than Sean Connery's Bond. There are some bad dubbings and audio cuts throughout the movie, but besides it being a little slow at points and having a few unnecessary scenes its a watchable film.
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Sea You on The Slopes
A slightly more complex Bond villain, complemented by a a henchman who is as silly as he is menacing. Actual cool gadgets and gizmos for a 70's bond flick. The supporting actress is probably the biggest detriment to the film. Her acting is monotone, her presence in the script is only for romance, and in action sequences she is useless.
You Only Live Twice (1967)
"This is my ninja School"
James Bond, Secert Agent, goes to Ninja School in this film; that's the only thing that makes it stand out as a original James Bond plot. The Japanese government give him women through the film, for no real reason, and they try to make him look Japanese by shaving his body and straightening his hair....
Thunderball (1965)
Disco Volante
Some good cinematography, the least humorous bond, except for a few scenes so very corny they draw laughs. The best thing about this film is the beautiful setting and sean Connery's acting. Pretty classic, but not as much a Goldfinger.
Goldfinger (1964)
Hat Trick
Without a doubt the most iconic Bond movie, not saying it's the best, but virgin viewers will more than likely already know Goldfinger and Bonds snarky exchange of words. You can find more complex villains in Bond films later in the series, Goldfinger is more 2D with a personality. Odd Job is adds a menacing presence to Goldfingers spoiled child attitude. The beginning is for sure the slowest part in terms of action and development, bit it picks up as more is snooped out about Goldfinger's plan.
Live and Let Die (1973)
A Bad Hand
Possibly the most boring bond film ever, up till the climax. It's got a few jokes and a few hidden guns, but not even black magic can keep it alive like it does for Baron Samdei; the most interesting and under used character in the film. The Louisiana cops are a laughable treat to in a big chase sequence and the way Mr. Bigs gets out of the water is to die for.
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
Off The Mark
Scaramanga is one of the most interesting bond villains played by a fantastic actor. The only thing holding him back is the lack of scenes he gets between the very beginning and end of the film. Besides that Roger Moore's acting is top notch in this film and there are some very interesting and while implemented set pieces.
A View to a Kill (1985)
What a view
Best Bond opening theme. The story is not very exciting and almost not ridiculous enough for a bond film. The villain is a interesting concept, but not well executed in the plot or by Walken's perfomance, a fair bit of classic bond humor, but no real substance.
Die Another Day (2002)
The Art of Bore
The Madonna theme, its god awful. The acting is par with the other Brosnan bonds. The story goes from fun, to none and back to a bit of fun at the end. The villain is coincided enough to make him unique, but not enough to make him have impact.
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
Criminal News Network
You get some action, you get the puns, you get the guns; bond, as always, gets the buns. The second half of this movie is where all the bond elements shine the brightest, the directing is a bit shotty, especially at the beginning. It's not the funniest, or the most creative and not all the elements "bond" together like Goldeneye.
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
The World is NOT Enough
This Bond is more emotional in this film than in the other pierce Brosnan films, doesn't fit the script for his cool collected persona. The humor isn't laced into the film so it flows with the rest of the script, it more cuts into what's supposed to be a more serious plot laced with serious characters that don't gel well with the assault of over the top corny action. The villains are so hard to understand because their's not enough time or background given to either of them, all I can say is that ones evil and the others in love.
Shark Exorcist (2014)
Just Bad
I can't write a single good thing about this movie. The acting is so bad. There are 3 shots of a terrible CGI shark used over and over. It is BAD and not in the michael Jackson or The Room (2003) sort of bad, just absolute crap.
GoldenEye (1995)
Closing Time James
I don't understand how this movie isn't categorized as a comedy, it's much better if you think of it as so. There's enough bad jokes and silly scenarios mixed in with the corny action and beautiful cinematography to make a fine mixed drink of a film.
Splash (1983)
That boy's not right
Decently funny all the way through, John Candy and Tom Hanks have excellent comedic chemistry complemented by Ron Howard's directing. It felt like Tom Hank's character was written to be so silly jts more like he's got borderline personality disorder. The whole movie is incredibly silly though and it keeps to this tone for most of the film.
Heartbreak Hotel (1988)
Elvis doesn't Pressly Any Charges
This is no a musical, it is not a Haha funny sort of comedy, in fact it's mostly serious in the weirdest way. It's one of those movies that takes the persona of Elvis from his career In movies and music and makes it most of his personality In the film. Not a lot of subtite story telling here, a two sentence description will sum up the whole 1 hour 40 minute experience. The only thing you miss is hearing the music, decent over all though.
