Vivarium (2019)
It fulfilled its mission
I´m giving this a high score not because I think this film is a hidden gem, but because I think it accomplished what it was meant for: scare me to death.
Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but the truth is this film really makes you question a lot of stuff.
I would categorize it as a cosmic thriller, since it touches on some subconscious fears a lot of people have: what if I have kids (and I don´t want to), what if my kids turn out bad, etc.
This is a fear especially prevalent among younger generations. We´ve seen our parents screw up, and we don´t want to make the same mistakes.
Han nyeohaksaengeui ilgi (2007)
The life of a North Korean teenager
The film depicts a North Korean teenager's struggle to understand her father's devotion to his country, and to scientific achievement at the expense of his own family's happiness.
Spending most of his time at work in a distant town, he leaves his two daughters, wife, and mother-in-law in their rural home.
This girl biggest dream is to live in an apartment, and we frequently see her dreaming about escaping her reality, a hard life in the middle of a low income family.
Not a great movie, but coming from North Korea it's not that bad actually.
very good to understand a little more about the daily lives of North Koreans.
Machine Gun Preacher (2011)
The story of Sam Childers, a non conventional preacher
I'm giving it 9/10 just because anything in this world is perfect, but to be honest this is the most realistic movie I've ever seen.
Everything, from the action scenes to the relationships between the characters are portrayed as they are in real life.
This movie will touch your heart and you will feel all the emotions of the characters (the interpretations of the actors are also a plus for this film)
I don't understand why this movie has such a low score (maybe because of the violence, or because it represents the story of a preacher..). This is definitely one of the best movies I've seen in my life.
