Jeena Teri Gali Mein (1991)
What happened to Suraj?
I tried to search a lot about Suraj, what happened to him after this movie but there is nothing in Internet. It was a great musical film but none of these actors made in Hindi cinema after this venture. If anyone can find out about Suraj, please write here.
I love the songs pretty well; like the one user said that not many watched this movie, I watched it, looks an impressive story about two youngsters who think their life will be alright after college but things don't go their way.
Overall an excellent movie but it will always be remembered for its tracks.
Madras Cafe (2013)
Another Great Shot from Shoojit
The movie is one of my favorite; from plot to the narrative, it is near to perfect. Story is inspired from the real events and tells a lot about the civil war in Sri Lanka, espionage system of India, arms dealers and their interests in conflict. However, one thing that surprised me was no role of the Sri Lankan government was shown in the movie.
Acting wise I think Sidharth Basu was the best, then John. Nargis Fakhri did not have much to do in the film. But, I think it is all the director who should be given credit for such a great movie. After Vicky Donor and Yahan, Shoojit seems to graduating from fine to finer film making.
My final verdict, it is a must watch who love realistic movies. And, Yes, I liked no song Hindi movie.
Chennai Express (2013)
Average Comedy and Over-Acting
I went to watch this film to see comedy which Rohit Shetty is known for. But I wish SRK should limit to his serious role as he lacks timing and click when doing comic roles. The whole film seems to be made to cash in on the SRK myth; I do not see why Rohit did this, but it will definitely drag the film.
In the entire duration, what I was watching was, SRK's over acting and his efforts to act. I mean, we have seen good movies from him like Chak De India but this was terrible. Total disappointment. He is still doing what he was doing twenty years ago when he was young, that was right then but now, it has become unacceptable as he looks old.
Deepika is average despite all her efforts to show some acting skills. Deepika could have played the role even better as she is from the same place which she is portraying in the film. However, the problem seems that she was not natural, rather, she tried, had she not, it could have been better.
SRK fans may like the movie but for an average viewer like me who went for complete comedy, it would not meet the expectation.
Login (2012)
Stories That You Can Associate With
The three lives and their link with the cyber world and where it leads to them is essential part of the movie. Mrityunjay, a perfect Gama in several senses is yearning for a girlfriend which he knows he cannot find in real life log ins to a dating site and ends up miserably as his body parts are taken out by a well managed human organ traffickers.
Then, this lady Vandana, who was enjoy everything in life, unnecessarily creates problems for herself and doubts her husband and then coned by her friend and her friend's boyfriend and ends up miserably.
The third character 'Mondal' is a typical BPO guy who spends a lot and earns less, always in financial mess. Tries duping credit card owners but as happens, these things do not continue for long, dies in the end as he tries to escape from police who actually did not come to catch him but to investigate Mrityunjay's murder.
Best part in the movie is stories, that you will see happening a lot these days. You can also relate with the characters, you might have seen many of them in your real life.
Raanjhanaa (2013)
Watch the Raanjhanaa for Sub-Stories
I do not see a monolithic concept in Raanjhanaa as there are several plots and director tries to show several sub-issues like Hindu-Muslim, Left ideology, teenage love, friendship, devoted love and one-sided love, stalking, political conspiracies, jealousy and double standards.
Watch the film for Dhanush and the various sub-stories the film has. Sonam is mediocre again with average acting skills but Dhanush seems to lift the film on his own with natural acting. Abhay Deol does not even sounded like a student from JNU.
Stalking and one-sided love by Dhanush is frustrating a lot. Even when Abhay's character dies and Dhanush feels guilty for it and tries to wash his sin, he tries to pursue Sonam..either a flaw in the script or the weakness in character is responsible for it.
Then again double standards by Zara wherein she rejects Kundan, a Hindu, she accepts well another Hindu. Either she did not like Kundan and playing religion card as a ploy to escape from him or she was just a smart small town girl.
Finally, a question is, is it Kundan who ruined several lives or is it Zara? I feel Kundan did more harm to more persons than Zara did or the two are responsible for the entire thing and no one wins.
Schindler's List (1993)
Excellent Film and Characters
Schindler's List is not just a film but excellent portrayal of characters. Liam Nisan's character Oskar Schindler is complex as for me he transformed from one to another. After failing many a times in businesses, he finds 'the holy grail' of business i.e. 'War is the best friend for Capitalist.' Though he did not have an iota of feelings for Jews when he started business, later on his friendship; rather, professional coordination with Itzak Stern imbibes him with some feelings for them. To watch in the movie is how and at which point Schindler starts feeling for Jews is important.
I think when he sees that Germans are no good for Jews or even for Germans. Also, may be he realizes that siding with Germans when they are losing the war can have grave implications. May be a lot of people will disagree to the fact and it has not been shown in the film, many survivors also felt that Schindler was a lousy and lascivious guy who tried to benefit from the circumstances but accidentally became a guy in the Jews' good book.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
An Amazing Film
I loved the movie, Milkha's character portrayed by Farhan deserves national award. Apart from the Milkha's personal life, the film is inspired by Pan Singh Tomar, Invincible, The Express. Farhan Akhtar is Milkha in the film, I was searching for Farhan but failed.
Sonam's character does not have length and she does not leave any impression; however, Divya Dutta amazed us again with her portrayal of Milkha's sister.
Best part part is that Director is able to tackle several issues at once e.g. Milkha's life in itself seems to see a lot in little time. The movie is also about the partition of India and the communal forces in Pakistan hell bent to kill the people of other religions e.g. Sikhs, Hindus.
The film is also a attribution to the sportsperson why single commitment for the sport brings them laurel. At various places in the film, it reminds me of other films; for instance, when Milkha goes for athletics for food, his dislike for spikes shoes, etc. reminds us of Pan Singh Tomar.
Farhan was on Milkha's skin no doubt; again I would recommend him for the National Best Actor award.
