Accused (2023)
Just like the annoying films where victims don't put lights on.
Great acting by the lead guy but the story is annoying. I'd be down that police station with my dog the second the news said my name on TV. If it's not enough that he destroyed the phones in the house, inevitably cutting off contact knowing he was at risk being threatened and that police might call back, he went on to just quiver and hide. It was obvious his dog would die, after all he did ignore it when it told him there's intruders. Then he closes windows, you'd think after social media was threatening your life that you'd close all windows. They have the landline number, of course they know your address. Greet out and clear your name but no. He footers around the house, shines a torch out the window to get attackers attention, visits his weird neighbour for tea and biscuits. Of course somethings up when she doesn't call police when you've been attacked. Lingering in his car for 5 minutes, mate, no, hurry up and drive. Nah he just gets attacked again. Very good plot in general but a lot of faffing around, just like blondes in horror movies who don't put the light on.
My Son (2021)
As exciting as a kidnapping wouldn't be but just as harrowing
Set in beautiful, dreich scenery, as realistic as you can get, James McEvoy is exactly as a Scottish Dad would be if their child was kidnapped. "I take photos, they choose".... Torture? Oh aye. I'd be welding his feet.
Nerve-wracking with suspicions towards everyone, you would analyse every conversation, every video on a phone just to find out what's going on. Like shouting "switch on the lights!" at the tele when watching a horror, he does actually text to say what's going on & reacts like a normal person would.
Not much of a conclusion at the end, quite sad he fades into the background of his son's life regardless of the possible consequences his work had to begin with or that he saved him. In reality the child wouldn't realise the importance of a job or his Dad saving him, he would only see that Dad's not there much & the ending shows how deflating that is.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo (2012)
Hilarious!
I actually love this! Usually I hate reality shows, I hate child pageants & didn't think I'd like this at all. Very surprised, it's so entertaining I can't stop laughing at them. The Mother June is such a lovely level- headed funny woman, Alana (Boo boo) is a credit to the family, such a sweet, hilarious wee girl with a massive personality! The family are certainly not conventional but they're level headed & down to earth, don't care what anyone thinks & they make great TV. I'm watching the new season now & it's funnier than before. It's stereotyped redneck family stuff but they are really lovely, do fun stuff like mud-diving & chasing chickens. I want to live there! I read other reviews, the reason there's subtitles is because the family speak with regional dialect (yes it is English language) but not everyone is from that area & it is difficult to understand. Plus it helps folk like me who aren't in the USA! Also the family use their own words who nobody else uses!
