Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
Decent at best
I dont know, if it was my high expatiations that made me not like the show all that much.
Really disapointed in it. The actress who plays Queen Charlotte does a very good job, the costumes are amazing, and Michelle Fairley is great as always. But other than that, I struggle to find any positive notes in this show. It starts of well, and ends good, but the middle part is just borring.
Had the show actually been a spin off on an actual Bridgerton series, or had Shonda Rhimes chosen focused on the original Bridgerton story (Edmund and Violet) I think the show would have been even better. But none of that happend, and instead we got this.
Babylon (2022)
Too much, too little and way too long
Unlike everyone else, I loved the beginning of the movie. I found it absolutely amazing, but I do understand why a lot of people have a problem with it, because it is a lot. But if you dislike the first part of the movie, you will like the rest of it, because while the first 30 minutes goes in a tempo, that says "BANG, BOOM and BANG BOOM" all at the same time, the rest of the movie, for the most part,, goes "okay, this is a marathon, not a sprint".
I did like the movie overall, and there were some really great things about the movie. The acting is good, Robbie is great, Pitt is good, but it is the lead actor Diego Calva (Manny) who should get the most credit. He does it all, and he does it amazingly. Another thing I liked about the movie, was the costumes. It gave us a good impression of what time in the world we were in. I really did love Margot Robbies dress at the beginning. It looked amazing on her, and I hope to see it on her another time.
But the best thing about the movie, was actually the music. Great music, that also showcases what time period we are in.
There is however some reasons why this movie is not a 10/10. I for one did not really care about the rest of the movie, as much as I did in the beginning, which I did love. The script is decent at best, and bad at worst. The movie is also terrible long, and could easily have been 2 hours and 30 minutes at the most. It drags on at the end.
All these reasons, are why I end up at a 7 and not a 10.
The Playlist (2022)
6 movies, 1 season
I had never heard of Daniel Ek before this story, but I am glad I know who he is today.
Talk about changing a business.
"The Playlist" very much feels like 6 movies based in one story, and that works for this story.
It works because each episode is focused on a different character, and none of them are Borring.
In fact each character brings something new and different to the story.
Daniel brings the vision, Per tells the story of the business and how much everyone had forgotten how much they were hurting in the 2000s.
Petra tells the legal story of how Spotify manges the legal side and so on.
That is why each episode feels like a different movie.
You pretty much only need to see the very first episode to get hooked.
Had the show chosen to stay in the past, and not gone to the future, I would most likely have given it a 10/10.
But when you sit back and watch the last episode,.you might ask yourself: who is the actual villain in this story? Or are there even any villains to blame?
Even if the show is in Swedish, I suggest you start watching asap.
