Climate of the Hunter (2019)
A Perfect Film
There's not many perfect films in the world but this is one of them.
From wardrobe to dialogue to acting to music to direction to cinematography to, well, everything.
It fails in no area.
The tone is perfectly absurd, kitschy, beautiful and dense. The writing is serious, comical, mysterious and magical. It's everything an independent film should be.
Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway (2019)
One of the greatest films of all time.
No joke. This will hopefully be seen by future generations as a mile stone in the cinematic landscape. A hybrid of Surrealist, Pop Culture, Jazz, Noir, Stop Motion and Nintendo 64.
This movie is a forerunner in the new wave of genre mixing, mashups and remixing but it still has a strange level of accessibility. Mainly due to the fact that there's an emotional center to the story and because of the pop culture shout outs like Batfro, the Batman wannabe or the Nintendo 64 Golden Eye inspired stop motion hyper reality sequences.
It's a masterpiece. Period.
Lowlife (2017)
Wow
Wow, this movie was really great. I came in expecting a fun violent romp (which I received) but it was so much more than that. I really felt for all the characters and they all had wonderful story arcs. Great use of parallel story telling too! A true gem!
Samurai Rauni Reposaarelainen (2016)
Amazing!
What a wonderful film! It's a breath of fresh air that mixes samurai, exploitation and loads of art house to create a wonderful, weird masterpiece! Please, find this, rent this, buy this and watch this.
Essex Spacebin (2016)
A Unique Masterpiece
Wow. This movie is amazing. It's definitely not for everyone but for the people who connect with it, they will be blown away. There are shades of Adult Swim, Napoleon Dynamite, David Lynch, After Last Season and Repoman. It is VERY uneven in plenty of spots - from cinematography to writing to acting - the movie is truly all over the place. But because of this, it gives the film a schizophrenic quality that brings it to a genius level and, I feel if properly showcased, could influence a whole generation of filmmakers. Don't let the Troma logo fool you. This is, without a doubt, the best movie that Troma has ever signed for distribution that I've seen so far.
