Not as bad as I expected
8 February 2016
I was prepared for this film to be as bad as other over-hyped french comedies. I expected to commit suicide after 20 minutes but, surprisingly, the movie was much better than I expected.

The scenario shows some good ideas, even if they are far from being fully exploited. But the real surprise is that the Tuche family is actually so nice that it becomes impossible to hate them. And that is the only reason why this movie is pleasant. Yes I admit that many parts of the script are really unbelievable (no real spoiler here: their posh neighbors liking the Tuche family far too easily and many other situations) but the scene with the bank director is the central piece.

Overall, it should have been a very annoying movie, but the kindness of all the characters makes it not that bad.

A very good documentary

It is always difficult to make a study in the prostitution world and even more in the gay prostitution. This great documentary consists in monthly face to face interviews with some gay hustlers in Montreal downtown.

From the very first minutes, it appears that most of those hustlers are actually straight but they accept to have sex with male clients for the money, which they spend buying drugs. Many of them have actually started drugs before prostitution. But it is definitely not that simple!

They all want to get out of the prostitution, but can a "normal" work make you earn that much money and that fast? On the other hand, a "normal" work keeps you busy, so you have much less free time to do drugs. Eventually, you will get no answer: just more questions. And so what? If you want a clear answer, you must have a clear question!

A great movie about loneliness
17 July 2014
It is obvious that Hanna and Simon, as a couple, have reached the steady state of true love, a deep true love. But it is a steady state... probably too steady. So when each other, separately, meets the handsome Adam, they re-discover passion.

It is a slow movie as we have to discover how the characters are feeling lonely without actually expressing it. Hanna and Simon are a couple but they feel lonely each other. They both meet Adam, on different circumstances, and feel attracted to him. It is true that Adam has everything for him: he is good-looking, he practices some sports, go out, have casual sex... but at the end of the day, he is still lonely. As a proof, his apartment looks like a hospital room.

This movie is about joining each other's loneliness to build a true relationship. But how does it happen? That is the interesting part.

One of the best movie ever!
13 July 2014
This is definitely one of my top ten movies ever!

Ten years after a band of friends lost contact (not all of them), and one of them has become a TV celebrity, they all meet again for a dinner which reveals all the hidden feelings they had.

Directing, set, acting, music... everything is just brilliant and in place. But most of all, the dialogs are fantastic. They slowly reveal the personality of each character and they also uncover what happened ten years before between those friends, without narrating what happened (with only one slight exception). Everything is fluid and smooth, the characters seem extremely real with their history, their feelings (past and present), their hopes and their past disappointments.

A must-see movie!
