Heckler (2007)
Lots of crybabies
Documentary about celebrities who utilize hyperboles (like they should die in a fire while eating a sand hamburger) to describe their critics so you feel sorry for them. The point of this documentary is for you to feel sorry for a celebrity. You should feel sorry. Very sorry. You friggin' sinner. You should go to hell. Maybe not. Still, you should be ashamed of yourself. How could you? Celebrities are like saints and they have feelings. They cry. They complain. They complain a lot. I mean, they complain until the cows come home. Even those who look really, really tough, like they could beat you up, cry and moan. You should know, they would never, and I mean never, criticize you (e.g. they would never criticize your cooking). In conclusion, celebrities are not hypocrites.
Superman Returns (2006)
Superman Returns somewhat low-key
I was one of those who was wishing this movie was an absolute stinker. Actually, the movie is good. Not very good, not great, but good nonetheless. Brandon Routh really shines in this movie. Not because he is Superman, but because he truly took the opportunity that was given to him and did his absolute best. The boy can act pretty well, and although he may not be the greatest actor in the world, he did the job and, in my opinion, did it well. Kevin Spacey does the best that Kevin Spacey can do, so he didn't particularly dazzle me, nor the other actors/actresses. The special effects are not spectacular, but are still very good. The way they portrayed Superman flying was excellent. The truly visualized the way it should be, I think. The movie overall concentrates on a heartfelt, sentimental storyline, however, it stumbles here and there when dealing with certain issues that are presented in such an artificial manner that really didn't convince me. Although, I must agree with someone who wrote that seeing how humble and giving Superman is portrayed in this movie brings a tear to the eye and wishes there was somebody that good in real life (and had the great super powers, as well). Although, sometimes I felt they were portraying him as if he were Jesus Christ(Don't worry Christians, it's not as blasphemous as it sounds.) Worth seeing, but don't expect to see the best Superman movie ever.
Silent Hill (2006)
Best Video game-to-Movie Adaption, however...
Silent Hill's plot is nothing like the plots of Konami's Silent Hill 1-3 (4 being completely different, so I'll discard it). However, it tries to remain faithful to the (first) games. My criticism is during the "light" or "day" times, and also during the Christopher parts. It tends to get to slow and a little boring. Then, all of the sudden it speeds up like the micro machine guy who talked really fast. I loved the darkness parts and found some parts to be really creepy (and really bloody and gory, but not disgusting, just like horror films should be.) The music is almost exactly the same as the games. The ending was pretty okay, since I hope there is a (superior) sequel nearby. I didn't hate this movie (like Doom), but it is not one of the best movies I have ever seen, either. I still recommend it to people who have not played the game, as well as people who have. Like books made into films, there will always be changes that one may or may not like. But, I think the movie is still worth seeing. 8/10
Jump Tomorrow (2001)
Amazing Film!
This is what a genuine love story should be all about. I was amazed I had never heard of this film and how truly good it is. The writing, directing and acting are truly superb. All the characters are likable, except the obvious ones, and one seems to form a bond with them. Whether it be true friendship, love, emotions, feelings... well, this film has it all. There is great chemistry between Adebimpe and Verbeke. Girardot serves as a dysfunctional guardian angel to Adebimpe and as comic relief in scenes where there is supposed to be some tension. Although, this film is completely hilarious. Love may not be a science, but it is honestly such a complex subject to understand. Just go with the flow and watch this excellent film.
Doom (2005)
Not the "Doom" I know!
Playing "Doom", and figuring what it was all about, truly terrified and amazed me. I always thought if this game were made into a film, it would be great. I was wrong, but that's because the people involved with this movie decided not to use the game's plot line. This movie only resembles the game because of its title and some of its monsters, which you cannot clearly perceive. The only good thing about this film is near the end (not the ending itself!) and that lasts a couple of seconds (well, maybe some 2 or 3 minutes). There is even a couple of gross moments, and I mean gross, not gory. Well, what truly frightened me when playing the game was clearly discarded from the movie. Those who have played "Doom" til the end of it will know what I mean.
