The Trust: A Game of Greed (2024)
Poorly Executed!
The premise of this show was interesting. Completely different people with virtually nothing in common trying to create a bond of trust for cash. The only thing that's guaranteed is that trust will be broken. If it's not then this becomes the most boring show EVER! That's all good. Here's the big problem. Most shows like this I've ever watched have activities that are a big part of the show. Then there's the follow up chatter that creates the drama and then there's elimination. I don't mind doing a different formula but not if it's garbage. The activities take up maybe 10-15 minutes per episode and then it's all cattiness and backstabbing. It's not really funny. It's not engaging. It actually becomes uncomfortable. I can't believe Brooke Baldwin chose this as her next platform after a successful career in solid journalism. There are SO many better options out there for trashy reality TV. Don't waste your time.
Star Trek: Voyager: Virtuoso (2000)
Brutally Self Indulgent
I have absolutely no idea why Robert Picardo's opera singing became focal in this series. Realistically, his character was the most annoying character in any Star Trek series. But beyond that, his consistent opera indulgence is horrible. I just don't get it. I'm sure he's not the only cast member of the Star Trek franchise who has a wonderful voice. I just cannot understand how this furthers anything. But the entire plot of this episode is nonsense. I have to consistently use the words self indulgent because there's absolutely no point to this episode other than to let him sing. Why was this necessary? I think Voyager is the weakest link in the Star Trek chain and this episode is the nail in the coffin. I watch and rewatch every Star Trek series regularly. This is the one episode I skip every time. Just putrid!
Poker Face (2023)
Excellent on Multiple Levels
First. Natasha Lyonne is spectacular! The storylines are great. The guest stars are awesome because they bring in all of these well known actors into fun roles. And choosing the right character for these kinds of roles is not a slam dunk and the casting crew NAILS IT! It finally hit me what I loved about this show. If you grew up loving Columbo, this reminds me so much of Peter Falk with a much more modern twist. If you don't know who Columbo is, you missed out. And while each episode is an individual case, there's an underlying, long term theme that always leaves you asking and wondering when that will come back to the forefront! It's just fun!
The Offer (2022)
Wow
I really had no idea what to expect here and based on prior roles, I was not the biggest fan of Miles Teller! He was amazing, the story was remarkable and fascinating for a movie I've loved for decades and I was riveted! I had to look up some of the things presented in this because it seemed absurd and over the top! Everything I looked up was true and supported the concept that actual life can be even crazier than movies! For anyone with even a modest attraction to The Godfather, you have to watch this. I almost guarantee that you will immediately go back and watch the movie with a new point of view!
The Godfather (1972)
Genius
This is one of, if not, the greatest movies ever made. The acting. The story. The cinematography. The costumes. Absolutely nothing disappoints. It boggles my mind how anyone would be disappointed. I just watched this with my 18 year old daughter and she loved it. That's an opinion from someone who has a hard time keeping her eyes off of her phone! Genius!
Mayor of Kingstown (2021)
Intense
I've always liked Jeremy Renner but this role takes him to a whole other level. He just kills it! There are so many other great performances by others and the storyline is very strong! There are a few plot lines that are a bit off that prevent this from being a 10 but I'd recommend this show to any and every one!
tick, tick...BOOM! (2021)
Blown Away
I hadn't even heard of this before my wife suggested it. I'm a fan of musical theater but it's not my go to genre when it comes to movie watching. I watched this and was blown away! Andrew Garfield was absolute GENIUS! This turned me onto his whole career catalog and I have not regretted it. I've only really known Vanessa Hudgens from her Disney films and didn't even recognize her because it was such a different role. I just rewatched it again. It pulls on every heartstring. The music is incredible. Everything is just riveting! It's a must watch !
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Murder of a great story
This was just horrible! I give a tiny bit of credit to the cast but the bastardization of the story, the horrible portrayal of Poirot (Shame on Kenneth Branagh) and just the nonsensical "twists and turns" do a horrible injustice to one of the truly great stories in history by the best selling author of all time! Do yourself a favor and watch the original! THAT is a masterpiece which is why Albert Finney was nominated for an Oscar!
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Western Film Noir
I appreciate the acting in this as the lead characters were wonderful. The story was off! I read other reviews that loved the deep dive into family & jealousy & intrigue but I keep waiting for a black and white mime to sit down at a cafe as he lights a cigarette, sheds a tear and let's a red balloon fly off into the sky. The music was key in creating that odd mood! Nice film! Don't understand the hype!
In the Dark (2019)
Just Mean!
This show went from truly compelling and intriguing in the first 8 episodes to annoying, pathetic & mean spirited. If I treated ANYONE the way the main character, Murphy, treated her family and friends, then I would feel incredibly ashamed! I can't abide a show where horrible treatment of others is a key plot point. On top of that, it feels incredibly demeaning that the main character gets away with this atrocious behavior based on the fact that she's blind. It screams a message that visually impaired people can get away with this largely because they have this impairment. I'm speechless and appalled!
The Song Remains the Same (1976)
If You Didn't Like It, I Think Kajagoogoo did a Movie!
I read some of the bad reviews. They're absolutely absurd. First, it's a movie done in the 70's and special effect video was reasonably new. If you hoped for Star Wars graphics then you're not too educated. The musical talent was outrageous. This is a band where every member is at least top 20 of all time in their category if not top 10. This is Rock & Roll artistry we just don't have today. I liked a lot of the backstage and personal footage which was cool. This would have been a 10 but some of the dramatic, Renaissance type footage was kind of weird. That may have gotten more traction when it came out. This was a great look into the greatest Rock & Roll band of all time! No one did it like Led Zeppelin!
Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
Brilliant
This film is truly spectacular! I always remembered it as being good but just rewatched it. The story is great! The acting is even better! Add in the scenery, the costumes, the music, etc. And it's a masterpiece! It definitely had some despicable moments against women that are very hard to watch but that shouldn't detract from an incredibly well done movie!
Silent Running (1972)
What???
I'm a big sci-fi fan. I've looked up lists of best sci-fi movies of all time and specifically of the 70's. This film always comes up and is very high on the list from the 70's. I was excited to watch it. I kept waiting for a great epiphany or surprise or twist. Realistically, you can stop watching after 15-20 minutes because you will get nothing more story-wise, plot-wise or acting-wise. Bruce Dern does a fine job but isn't spectacula by any stretch. And message-wise, this is right in my wheelhouse so I'm on board! It's just a 90 minute movie to make a point that can be made in 15 seconds.
Chuck (2007)
Nice but frustrating
This started out really well for 2 seasons. Then it got blah and frustrating! Close to 3 years of sexual tension between Chuck & Sarah is absurd especially when Chuck bails on the situation he dreamed of for a lame reason that results in immediate failure! The bumbling and stumbling gets SUPER old by season 3 especially when he thinks he's officially a spy! The supporting characters are kind of hit and miss although Lester & Jeff are a great, slapstick comedy relief! I'd recommend Psych! Much funnier and WAY less annoying!
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Genius
The characters aren't for everyone but if you understand and appreciate them then this is spectacular! From episode 1 to the last episode there isn't one episode that fails! Do yourself a favor and watch this!!

Psych (2006)
EASILY one of the funniest shows EVER!
This show was actually introduced to me by my daughter in High School years ago! I have since introduced other friends in their 30's, 40's, 50's and up! This show is transcendent! The characters are awesome! The banter is well timed and witty! The humor is just outstanding! The storylines are great as well! It's a show with great pace! There's no extended, ridiculous slow burn on storylines! There's no bumbling and stumbling for its own sake even though it would be easy to do! It's true, laugh a minute fun unless your idea of humor is fart & burp jokes! But even that crowd will get some great laughs out of this show! True genius!!

El hoyo (2019)
Just WOW!
Up until now, if someone asked me the worst movie I'd ever watched it was hands down "They Came Together". This movie left that in the dust! This was PAINFUL to watch! Totally bizarre with absolutely NO redeeming qualities! I feel worse for having watched this! Just HORRIBLE!!!!
The ABC Murders (2018)
Truly horrible
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should! This mini-tragedy is the epitome of that phrase. Malkovich as Poirot is like Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. Horrible accent. Average acting job. Strange revisionist take on classic characters. Malkovich was SO out of place in this that it detracted from every other part of the series! Steal the premise, put it in a different locale with different characters and it could work. This was just bad on TOO many levels! Please don't ever let him play Poirot again! Let him get back to roles where he can thrive and not embarrass himself! Yuck!
Star Trek: Voyager (1995)
Definitely the Worst of the Bunch
As a big Star Trek fan who loves to watch them over and over, Voyager is fine but definitely the hardest to watch. So many of the characters are either annoying or just dull & vapid. The concept is the weakest of all the shows. I will watch it from time to time but find myself getting annoyed to the point where I migrate to the other Star Trek iterations.
