Supernatural (2005)
Could have been more.....
I'm not sure exactly which season this show started dropping in quality, but I have tried to watch it from start to finish two times now. Both times, I make it to season 14 before I can no longer stomach it. There are some extremely annoying aspects of the show that will lesson the experience, which some (in particular, how Sam and Dean are CONSTANTLY lying to each other, yet never learn) are throughout the series, but bearable. Later though, they do some REALLY dumb stuff that makes no sense at all. I couldn't finish, so i started to watch the final episode just to get it over with, but that was an extreme disappointment too. Best advice is stop watching it when it starts to annoy you... cause eventually it will. It probably should have ended around Season 10.
In the Dark (2019)
Ok, if you are into this sort of thing
The show itself isn't completely terrible, although its full of hollywood conditioning.... as usual. This is a full-fledged LGTB flick. Outside of that.... there's the roller coaster ride of the main character, who understandably has some emotional problems.
The lead character, a blind woman, seems to fall in and out of love by the minute. First she is all into so and so, then shes into another, then back to so and so. These are folks outside of her typical one night stands. Bottom line, the romance in this show is completely jacked up.
The story itself is so completely unrealistic that it gives me Sons of Anarchy vibes, where some of the most impossible circumstances seem to pop up.
The Chosen (2017)
wildly entertaining.....
Whether you are believer or not, this is worth watching. There is no Hollywood propaganda in this show.... although you can say there is Christian propaganda, but does it matter? Even if you do not believe, you can just treat it as another fictional story and still be entertained. This is how it is with almost ALL TV.. Most TV shows are based off of fiction, so there really is no excuse to not to give this a shot. The story is riveting, and if you watch Jesus in this show, and behave like him, you will make the world a better place, religious or not. However... with all of that said, I have no doubt this show will make believers out of some.
House of the Dragon (2022)
No likeable charcters.... yet
Besides all of the obvious things wrong with this show, which I will list out the man one, simply because of the required characters for a review, which doesn't seem to be a requirement for everyone. Wokeism... yea, its in here, unfortunately, like anything out of hollywood these days. Thats ok, I just laugh at that junk, and it only makes the shows even worse, and reduces their viewership. But, the bottom line is this. This is no Game of Thrones. There isn't a single likable character in the show. You wont find any Arya Stark's here. It's just another mediocre production. I'm surprised George RR Martin allowed it, although maybe he is out of the picture now.
Alaska: The Last Frontier (2011)
Great show, but horrible editing
This seems to fairly common with reality shows, but not sure why. Why editors would want to annoy their viewers is beyond me. You watch the best parts of the show twice, every time, every show. Shooting a deer? Boom, cut, commercial, come back, watch it again. I mean, are these folks so unsure of their content that the need to have cliffhangers for commercials? There really is no need for this sort of editing... cliffhangers in general are bad for the viewers in every way, and every circumstance. Other than this, the show is entertaining, even if some parts of clearly scripted. Show canceled, nice half of a long movie you just watched, cable out during commercial... you get the point.
Keep Breathing (2022)
could have been good if not for.....
The insane amount of interruptions/flashbacks. There are so many, that you'll find yourself simply fast forwarding through them.
The entire show is a like flipping through a bunch of fractured, out of order, pictures.
Resident Evil (2022)
mildly entertaining, mediocre writing
If they had writers, it would be much better.... none of what is in this show is believable (and I'm not talking about science.) Sisters turning on sisters, daughters turning on fathers.... its all just dumb.
Not to mention the Hollywood propaganda.
The Orville (2017)
Glad I waited to review
The Orville was one of my favorite shows before the covid fiasco.... I and a bunch of my friends couldn't wait for the 3rd season.
I'm no director, or write, or manufacturer. But, I can give all you some advice that I know for a fact is spot on. If something is working.... DO NOT CHANGE IT.
The "new" Orville is junk. Its hardly funny at all anymore, but almost all serious. I really don't understand what goes through these peoples minds and their "its not broke, but lets fix it anyway" attitude.
The First (2018)
Cancelled, no ending.
The series is good, but unless you are the type of person who enjoys watching half of a movie, never to go back and finish it, I would pass on this one.
This is why I don't believe in cliffhangers, and not finishing the gist of the story before the season ends. Too often, these Hollywood types are selfish in their writing and simply do not do the right thing, leaving us hanging. Stuff like this needs to be removed from the list of available shows. They should not be allowed to make money on unfinished products.
The Assassin's Code (2018)
F this, F that....
I really dont understand why they have to overuse this word in movies. I get some people talk that way, but to hear it ever 2 minutes gets old. I couldn't watch past the first 10 minutes, and I curse myself on occassion.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Replaced hoods with suits?
Racism was dead long ago.... only recently did certain people revive it, and no, it wasn't bad cops (there will always be bad people in the world). Give the real life politics in TV shows a rest. Its boring, no fun, and you basically eliminate half or even more than half of your viewers by including it. I don't want watch any more of this show after S2E02... too bad, cause I used to love Star Trek.
Stillwater (2021)
Just another "woke" film
They lost me at "you voted for Trump, right?" No, I didn't vote, I'm a convicted felon.... but later in the film, I own two guns. This is just one obvious example of what's in the movie.
Leave current politics out of movies... its far too much lately, and its ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS villainizing Republicans, and every single time its done, its a falsity.
.
Midway (2019)
Refreshing from current day hollywood
What are refreshing change of pace from Hollywood. This movie is great... no dumb hidden political messages (at least none that I noticed.) I'm not sure about the historical accuracy of the film, but who cares.... it was a entertaining, and its a great example of the exceptionalism we value from our military.
The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Little bit of misguided politics, but still fun
As you probably already guessed, some of this movie has to do with global warming. Especially towards the end, when the president outright admits thats why this happened. The only problem with this narrative is they admit throughout the movie that this has happened before, 1000s of years ago.
Either way, its a great apocalyptic movie.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Filled with political innuendos
I know Hollywood is anti men, anti white, anti anything conservative, anti Christian, etc, etc, etc. But this movie ALL about anti-men. My favorite part of the whole show was when she blew the head off the man on the poster, leaving the woman unscathed. That is what prompted me to write this review. Cockpit? Really? LOL They got one thing right... they got the perfect woman to star in it.
Bird Box (2018)
Gets 5 for simply being able to hold my attention...
Sort of like the move A Quiet Place, which apparently came after the book this move is based on. Both are in the same category when it comes to the story. Neither movies have any back story, so you have no idea what is going on, other than something makes people die if they see this something. It could have been so much better.
How It Ends (2018)
What was this?
So, the movie starts off with a big bang... some weird event that causes chaos everywhere, well at least in the USA. Man travels west to save girlfriend, keeping in mind, the event started there. After your typical travel woes in an apocalyptic world, the man finds her, and they have to leave suddenly cause some big gigantic something is happening, so the start fleeing, with the big thingy chasing them, then the movie ends.... Yep, ends, and you have no idea what happened in the first place, or if they survive. What??
The Last Scout (2017)
The worst sound i have ever experienced in a movie.
I would have given this movie 5 stars, as it wasn't bad. However, the music is so loud (and there is music playing almost constantly), that you can't hear people talking, and no, its not my PC. Other Prime Video's are fine, and you can see other reviews talking about the same thing.
It's hard to believe they would release this in its current state.
Tomb Raider (2018)
Immensely Entertaining
I suppose this title is getting bad reviews from primarily die hard Tomb Raider fans. I myself barely remember the previous movies, and never played the games (even though I am an avid PC gamer.)
I was drawn into this movie from the start, didn't want it to end, and I can't wait for the next one. Alicia Vikander is amazing.
If you are expecting something from this movie, then maybe you will be disappointed, but if you are not, I bet you will enjoy it.
Stargate SG-1 (1997)
Why you should not watch any Stargate series
1. Stargate SG-1: TEN seasons, and the end of the tenth season had episodes that had NOTHING to do with the ongoing plot. It looks as if if they didn't even try to end this in a proper way. They did have movies afterwards to try and rectify this, but it doesn't excuse the extremely poor track record the series has.
2. Stargate Atlantis. Five seasons, show is canceled, they try to give it some semblance of an ending, as if deciding the show was ending 75% through the last episode of season five, but failed miserably. If you are going to watch any of these, this is probably the best one. Just don't expect any resolution, or end to the story.
3. Stargate Universe. Cancelled after 2 seasons, with a MAJOR cliffhanger.
Bottom line: The people who created this show has no idea, what-so- ever, on how to end a show. This franchise should be buried and never thought of again, unless you want another "Unending." Ironically, that is the name of the final episode of SG1.
Sons of Anarchy (2008)
Where do I start?
When I first started watching Sons of Anarchy, I admit, I found it quite entertaining. However, as the seasons went on, it became a far fetched (and I mean seriously far fetched - like science fiction) slaughter fest. There is a total absence of brotherhood that the MC supposedly has. Everyone is out for themselves in this show, and I mean everyone.... at least everyone that counts. The ones that are not, are insignificant or killed off. Nothing ever goes as you hope it would. You bond with characters, only to see them wronged in some freaky scenario that only a Hollywood writer can come up with.
My favorite line, and its repeated often is Jax "I'll never let that happen." He is talking to his wife, saying she will never get hurt, etc, yada yada ya. However, him being in the line of business he is in, it impossible to make promises like that.
The biggest problem with this show is how every little thing falls perfectly into place to make the plot work.... the impossibility of how things transpire is painfully obvious.
I cant bear to watch any more of it after the 6th season ended.....and yes, that is partly because the only character that made sense in the show was killed off.
Kyle XY (2006)
Another serious not worth watching....
Kyle XY is a great show, even though the parenting shown in this show is certainly not "family" like. Kyle is a great kid, and and generally behaves like all parents wish their kids would behave. But, the other two? Sex in their teens, drugs, and the parents are WAAAAY too lenient on them, IMO. I would be careful letting young teens watch this, unless of course, this is how you parent.
The reason I give the show 1 isn't due to the shows content, but the people who made it. This show is quite good, and entertaining, but its liking watching a very long movie that gets cut off halfway through, never to know the ending. Once I realized the show was canceled with a cliffhanger, I stopped watching it.
Boycott networks that end shows with cliffhangers, then cancel.
The Glades (2010)
Great show,but Don't watch it!
Unless of course, you love canceled shows with cliffhangers, and let me tell you, this is the worst cliffhanger ever.
I give it a 1 due to that, because its like watching a movie that ends halfway through. I really don't understand why there are cliffhangers at the end of TV show seasons.... its not like that will keep people watching. The show is either good or not. Please, writers, and producers, don't end a season with a cliffhanger, unless you know the show will not be canceled.
If you don't mind the horrible cliffhanger ending, then you may find the show enjoyable. It has a good mix of comedy and drama. Jim is great.
Riddick (2013)
Very disappointed
I am a huge Riddick fan, but this movie doesn't make the cut. It is basically a bad version of the first movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's very disappointing to wait almost 10 years for another one, only to be presented with this.
The entire movie takes place on one planet, and basically boils down to Riddick killing the bad guys, then all of them trying to survive the alien lifeforms on the planet.
The second movie completely blows this one away in every way. There is space travel, the evil religion element, planet conquering, prisons, prison escapes, former characters, lord marshal killing, etc... This movie has none of that... almost the entire movie is basically filmed around one little outpost.
