Road House (2024)
Off-road Road House
OK, let me take a deep breath here...
I was very happy to hear about this and was waiting to watch it. I loved the original movie and when I show Jake stars in this, I thought he was the best choice after the great Patrick Swayze.
But this is a different movie. Yes, it keeps in line with the main idea of the original, but that's it. You never get to know the main characters. It's as if they are all there just to fill the big fighting scenes that trash the poor bar over and over.
Jake does his best and is the only person in the movie you really enjoy watching.
Conor acts like a caricature and really throws the whole project in the trash bin.
There were some impresive camera shots following the punches that put you in the middle of the fight, but that's it.
This movie makes you wanna give a 10 star rating to the original.
The Diplomat (2023)
Great, plain and simple
I'm gonna keep this short: This is a great political thriller.
Keri and Rufus are really good. The supporting characters are all really good in their parts.
The escallation of things episode by episode makes you wanna watch more. Maybe the soundtrack needed a little more work, but no problem there.
Just imagine that things like that happen every once in a while in some place in the world, and this is quite scary if you think about it.
It was an nice surprise, following a couple more good shows on this network. We definitely need more good shows like this on Netflix.
Is this 600 words already?
Quantum Leap (2022)
Did this project go a little caca?
OK, so this is not like the original. And according to the creators, it's not supposed to be.
It's unfair to make such comparisons. This is a new project.
We're only one episode in, so you might wanna hold your horses and not jump to rushed conclusions.
The visual effects are good, the main character's acting is good, Raymond Lee looks fit for the role, and I think that getting to know what's happening back in the lab gives a perspective that was missing from the original series.
My guess is that this is going to be as entertaining as it's expected to, and will honnor the good reputation of its predecessor.
Give this a chance.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
At last, some original Star Trek!
Just finished watching 1st episode and I have to say, it was about time!
After the passive Discovery and Picard, we get to watch a Star Trek show that is really close to the original idea.
The visuals are very good, Pike's character is really promising for what's next, the original soundtrack we all loved is back and script seems to stick to the original idea with the Enterprise adventures in discovering and helping new worlds.
Kept out one star because of (spoiler alert) young Kirk's mustache.
Can't wait to see more!
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Crazy, crazy, crazy
Don't even know where to start from.
I really hesitated to start watching this. I'm bored of the superhero stuff already out there. But I came to a point when there was nothing else to watch, so I gave it a try.
AND I JUST COULDN'T STOP!
Superb acting and direction, great characters deployed excellently by all actors, the story is great and you have no problems following the heroes in the different timelines. And the music... oh, the music... IT'S THE BEST!!!
Don't miss it!
Space Force (2020)
I found the SpaceX launch more interesting
I really tried for this one, I really wanted it to work. Half way through the 4th episode I found myself struggling to finish it. The concept is really good. And somehow they managed to make it so NOT interesting and NOT laughable at all! All characters are shallow, no acting effort at all. Malcovich is really trying but there is nothing to work with. Nothing reminds the good Steve Carell from the old days. Veeery disappointed on this one. 5 stars is really the best I can do, thinking of all those people in production who seem to have tried more than the script writers and actors.
