Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
The Knight of Gotham vs The Reedemer from Krypton: Birth of the League
Like all Nolan movies, the title is sufficient to summarize it.
It is indeed a 'Batman VS Superman' movie, where there is a clash of ideals that leads to (somewhat 'pointless') fight, which is certainly the most enjoyable scene there is. Also the story's end is basically the launch of other DC heroes to form the Justice league, hence the 'Dawn of Justice' part.
The pace is fast, holding the attention of audience throughout.
The story is simple without much surprises or flair.
Ben Affleck presented a different view of Batman unlike its predecessors. He is more Humanly, full of emotions, fearing for his people. A hero, who has suffered,is more experienced and is preparing for something dreadful to come. Kudos to Ben!
Whereas Superman is still finding his identity in our World. Branded as "Saviour" by some or "False God" by others, Henry Cavil showed how vulnerable Superman is. He got some serious ass-kicking in this movie.
The movie has got many 'jaw-dropping' action scenes with our Heroes showing new moves and weapons.
Wonder-woman is smoking Hot. High hopes from Gal Gadot.
The movie needs no brainer, so just go watch and enjoy. ;)
P.S.- Do NOT wait for any post-credit scenes. (DC isn't following that much from Marvel. Phew :P )
Manjhi: The Mountain Man (2015)
An Inspiring story retold..!
The story of Dashrath Manjhi is a story of love, separation, desperation and perseverance. Though the movie gave a Bollywood angle to it, the acting of Nawazuddin Siddiqui was en-capturing.
The movie gave the glimpse of that Post-Independent India, were rural people were still suffering by the hands of powerful Zamindars, exploiting politicians and other corrupt government officials. The story is of Gehlaur Village,Bihar isolated with the world surrounded by the chains of hills and mountains. The story is of the one-man-army Manjhi and how he overcame his tragedy and carved a whole in the mountain's heart. The dialogs are catchy, well written and the kind that makes-you-applaud. Radhika Apte though too beautiful to fit the cast did justice to the role with her charming skills.
Conclusion: Watch and get motivated. See what a person can do for love and the loved ones. View and get amazed by the power of a unheard-unsung Hero, recognized but too late.
Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
Fun, Entertaining, and Everything a Movie wants.!
First of all Congratulations to Director Zoya Akhtar for once again providing us a movie that fills our hearts with new life. You are the one that makes Bollywood feel proud. Keep it up.
'Dil Dhadakne Do' is the story of a very posh yet very common Indian Family and how they cope with the problems within and with their society. You will find yourself relating to the characters in the movie and that's what makes this movie so good.
As expected from the director, Awesome location. You'll wish you were born in a cruise and travel all around Europe. Songs are nice too, fun to listen.
No nauseating drama, no science defying action scenes, just a simple story with beautiful characters and their fun filled journey.
Conclusion: Please, Please watch it. If not for the actors, not for directors, not for me than do it for the Narrator, cause later you'll fall in love with Pluto Mehra. ;)
Piku (2015)
"Piku" or I should call it "PAKKAUU"..!!
When you hear about a movie starring biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan, you have lots of expectations. Sadly, Piku failed my expectations. I won't blame the actors though, they seemed to do exactly what must have been asked to do. It's Shoojit Sircar, with whom I was disappointed. The story could have been awesome if it had the right direction.
Piku is a story about a daughter, who has to be the mother of her father. She selflessly takes care of her hypochondriac and chronically constipated father. In this process she absorbs all the characters of her father, a selfish, critical and hard to please Bengali. Rana (Irrfan), owner of a Taxi agency, who has a little crush on Piku, is caught in this family drama. He drives the family in long ride from Delhi to Kolkata, their home.
There were actually some few comedy scenes which made the movie bearable a bit.Other than that, the movie is full of fights and unending debates about the digestive system, which turns from funny to boring and then later becomes irritating.
Its in the end 10-15mins, when the emotions rises, that you may actually realize what was the movie all about.!
Background scores were good. Locations were nice. Story was quite good but direction and screenplay lacked.
Suggestions: Bring Ear-plugs. You may need it.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Why watching 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' is important?
First of all because it's AWESOME.! The 142mins of the movie is not only packed with some great metal-bashing action scenes, its also gives a deeper view of personalities of our heroes. The inner-conflicts,self-realizations and the mind play that the Avengers suffer from, those wrong decisions made gets us to know them as Humans, than Gods. Coming back, the fighting scenes will make you clap so hard and shout (in excitement) so loud, that you'll never forget the experience ever.
Joss Whedon, You're the MAN.
Secondly,Avengers 2 has introduced a few new characters that will surely play a crucial role in the sequels to come. P.S.- These ones are so cool, you might end up replacing your favorites.
Thirdly, the movie gives a glimpse of the power of the Infinity Stones and will answer many questions that were raised in the previous films.
Fourthly, the new bonding between our avengers, there team play against the enemy they created. The fights and the new found love chemistry will keep you staring at the screen. P.S.- If you don't want to regret the rest of your life, go and watch the movie in 3D. Cause a flat screen is not much for Hulk and Hulk-Buster together.
Finally, the drama. The movie is all about the sacrifices our heroes go through. You might not like the way it ends, but hey, sometimes the god bleed too.
Conclusion: After you watch it, you 'll watch it again and again and again and again...
PK (2014)
The Terrific Trio did it again.!! Loved it..!
Aamir's Perfection, Vidhu's Smartness and Rajkumar's Creativity combined to form this entertaining, sweet and fun filled movie.
'PK' is the story of a guy who wants to go back to his home but has lost his way back. Utterly confused and unknown by the culture of the region, he desperately tries to understand the diverse way of humans. And after all is lost he goes to GOD for help. And the unique way GOD helps him is what makes the story remarkable.
The movie revolves around our social understanding, orthodox thinking in religion and superstitions spread by the middleman. PK's utter curiosity, his innocent nature and bizarre personality adds humor to the movie, that will make you laugh till it hurts.
Like in most of Hirani's movies, PK gives a wonderful message which will serve as an eye-opener for us INDIANS.
Aamir did a stupendous job, simply Amazing. Anushka's supporting act was praiseworthy.
Movie's casting, costumes and effects were good. Songs were catchy, less and appropriate.
Dialogues were the most important catch for the movie.
Conclusion: A must watch.!! And do go with your family.! It will be a learning experience. ;)
Interstellar (2014)
If you don't want to scratch your head for 169mins.. READ THIS.!
Yup Nolan did it again and this time he has taken his movie to another dimension.!!
'Interstellar' is the story of a man trying to save his family and then saving humanity from extinction. Its full of space adventure and breath-taking actions on some of the most beautiful and unrealistic locations around the UNIVERSE.
To realize Nolan's master-piece it Is better if polish our ideas about space-time theory. We know space is defined in 3 dimensions and Einstein in his theory of relativity uses Time as the 4th dimension. But Scientists in the movie realize that Gravity has the tendency to flow across all these 4 dimensions and thus Gravity is designated to be the Fifth Dimension. It is believed that whoever holds to understand and master the knowledge of this 5 dimensions will be able to move anywhere in Time and Space. In this movie a certain species referred as "THEY" has the knowledge of this five dimensions and it is THEM who wants Humans to save themselves.
In the film various Scientific and Astronomical theories are used, and it will help if viewers have a brief idea about them too.
Murphy's law- It is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. A statement relating possibilities with Certainty.
Worm hole- It is a bridge, a hypothetical topological feature of space-time that would fundamentally be a shortcut through space-time. A wormhole is much like a tunnel with two ends, each in separate points in space-time. Though undiscovered, Some believe that wormhole could be used to travel through galaxies.
Black hole- It is a region of space-time from which gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. The boundary of the region from which no escape is possible is called the event horizon. Inside the hole what happens is still a mystery, and that's where Nolan's creativity brings about.
The movie is filled with unproved theories and unrealistic scenarios. But the way Nolan has directed it, you wont want to blink you eyes even for a moment. The graphics are, no doubt, marvelous. The cast did a stupendous job and . Though laws has been broken to keep the ending sweet, it is well deserved as LOVE has no rules and no dimensions.
Conclusion: Watch it again and again.. and it gets better and better.!
Happy New Year (2014)
A Movie of typical BOLLYWOOD style.!
As expected from Farah Khan's movies, the film made very little sense from beginning till the end. The story was fully filmy; the hero have a tragic background which led him to follow wrong path; the heroine is helpless and in hope for her dreams to come true; and a villain who (not so cleverly)trapped the innocent family members of the hero.
Its the story for vengeance. Hero and his friends demands to serve get justice in there own way. They wanna devastate the enemy in the same way their lives were devastated. An impossible seeming plan is carried out to steal Diamonds from (supposedly)the safest vault ever made. Hi-tech equipments and dangerous stunts are performed. And as expected a happy ending occurs. Even though movie revolves around dancing, no such great moves were seen. Fighting scenes were forcefully attached to places where the story didn't demand it. Highlighting Deepika's glamor and showcasing Shahrukh's body seemed to be the main motto of the direction team. Even Sonu Sood was hardly seen wearing shirts throughout the movie. Only plus in the movie were the funny dialogues and comic acts maintained throughout the movie. The graphics and the locations were outstanding. Songs were catchy and entertaining.
Overall: Go.. Watch.. & Enjoy..!! Relax your brains, you wont be needing it..
Mary Kom (2014)
A One-Time-Watch.!
"MARY KOM" is a biographical movie on Mary Kom,four times World champion Boxer. The movie depicts the hardship that a Manipur girl had to go through with, to achieve her dreams.
Priyanka did a marvelous role, justifying her character in every scene. Though she lacked a bit to motivate the viewers as was expected from the promos, her sincerity to the role was attracting. Other characters like her husband and father were at par. The person playing the Coach's role was a disappointment.
Until the interval, the movie moves in a very fast pace displaying various incidents of Mary's life which leaded to her becoming a World Boxing Champion. In the next-half, the movie emphasizes on her family struggle and the comeback to boxing.
There were some unnecessary scenes used, to advertise various products from TATA salt to IODEX balm. Its distracting and unappreciated in serious movies.
Some critical scenes were too filmy. Climax were predict-able, and the little Bollywood drama won't go unnoticed.
Background music and songs will keep viewers interested. National Anthem added in the end of movie was too much.
Conclusion: Family movie. Watchable once. Kudos to all sports-women.
