Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922)
1922??
this was by far the oldest movie i have ever seen in my life. i guess it went to theaters in 1922 but horror fans had to wait how many freaking years to get it on DVD. i mainly watched it cause i was curious about what horror movies were like in the "good old days." i think the only reason to really watch this movie is if you have a historical interest in horror movies. otherwise, you will likely find it funny. the writing is sometimes hard to read and the good characters sometimes look just as scary as the bad ones. i wonder what would have happened if someone in 1922 saw a modern horror movie like The Ring? I think they would have peed themselves.
The Grudge (2004)
this is no "The Ring"
i watched this movie expecting (and hoping?) to see something like The Ring. I was greatly mistaken. This movie's plot makes absolutely no sense and relies completely on their special effects to make it qualify as a "horror." It is not in the least scary and every single slightly scary scene is exactly what you see on the trailer. Actually, this whole movie is like a long trailer because the scary scenes all have NO CONTEXT. they just appear out of nowhere and then they're gone. you don't even understand why they really happened.
why is it so hard to make a good horror movie? i was hoping for much better things with this movie. if you're a horror movie junkie, you'll find this movie a big flop. if you hate horror and are easily rattled, this might be a good movie to start with, you probably won't get too scared.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
a bunch of dumb asses running around in the woods
This movie never really caught my interest but because of all the fuss i thought i should give it a try. so i watched it and it was EXACTLY what i had expected. a bunch of dumb asses running around in the woods. the scariest things they see are literally rocks and sticks. (ohhhh look at that rock its so scary!) this film is a sad excuse for a movie. even i could do better. if you'd like to waste an hour of your life go ahead and watch this movie. by the way i can't understand for the life of me why people would keep trying to make a documentary if their lives were really in danger. this movie has no depth, no real plot, don't waste your time
Dead End (2003)
scary ass movie
i don't know what it was about this movie but it scared the living crap out of me. i was thinking about it for weeks. it's weird because this movie has NO GORE and it NEVER SHOWS you anything really abnormal. just small stuff like abandoned baby carriages in the middle of the road. you don't even get to see any dead bodies. but you do see the expression of the people that find the bodies. so if you have a kick ass imagination, watch this movie. i think it's your own imagination and not anything from the movie that will really scare you. but if you'd rather turn your brain off and let the movie do the work for you, don't bother with this one.
The Last Horror Movie (2003)
messing with your head....
This movie is not scary in the normal sense, but it does mess with your head psychologically. It's disturbing because you get in the killer's head. The ending is pretty freaky. The beginning is kind of boring but by the end I was thankful I had downloaded it and didn't rent it on VHS. (If you haven't seen this movie yet, rent it on VHS if you can, it's so much more effective.) However, the ending could have been better because all the people watching the movie were watching by themselves and who rents a horror movie to watch by themselves? Still, I checked to make sure my door was locked before I went to bed just in case. If you want something different and aren't satisfied with mainstream horror movies, give this a shot.
