i love it and whats with all of the negativity about Celine's love song?!
1 May 2005
Personally, I loved this movie. I am only 13 years old so obviously wasn't able to see it when it came out in cinemas! I first saw Titanic the movie when I was about 10 or 11 years old and I'll tell you now, I absolutely loved it then, and nothing has changed over the years! When I was about 10 I had this major crush on Leonardo DiCaprio and so I mainly watched it the first time to see him! But, as I watched it, I was so moved and I appreciated it for more than just a hot guy! I loved the parts that you just remember no matter how long it's been since you last saw the movie, like when Jack saves Rose from committing suicide, when they "fly" on the bow of the boat, when Jack draws Rose nude on the couch, when the ship gets hit by the ice berg and people are playing with the ice, when that woman sings her children to sleep because she recognizes that their fate is death.. the list goes on! The movie, while parts are not strictly accurate, is mostly accurate. Obviously, some characters such as Jack and Rose were fictional people made up as icing on the cake, but there were some people who actually did board that ship such as Mr. Bruce Ismay, Captain Smith, Mr. John Jacob Aster and several others. However, what really gets me is why a man who is actually said to have acted heroically was portrayed as he was, shooting a passenger and then swallowing his gun! All of you who have seen this movie know exactly who I'm talking about. That was another part that you can't forget no matter how long ago you last saw this movie.

What's with all of the negativity concerning Celine Dion's song My Heart Will Go On?! I personally love that song and think it goes perfectly with the story line. It's perfect for it, as it resembles the ending, Rose living on while Jack dies and Rose would never stop loving Jack, and that shows in the way that modern-day Rose talks about him in the movie. It's a beautiful song if you can actually appreciate it for what it means in relation to the story line of the movie. I guess, if you're not a big Celine Dion fan you wouldn't like the song anyway, but even if you don't hate her but don't love her, if you could open your heart and your mind and accept it for what it means in relation to the characters, you could love the song just as I do.

The movie is so emotionally moving. I know that I for one, am not a big crier, in fact, I hardly ever cry, but Titanic the movie moved me so much that I cried and couldn't stop for quite some time! The part where the woman sings her children to sleep because she has accepted the fate of certain doom was the scene that made me cry the most. It's so sad...

This is truly a masterpiece by James Cameron. The people who are now claiming that they hate it and that they never cried when they went to see it in the movies, you either need to stop dissing it when people say they love it 'cos if you're not moved by something like that, you're either cold-hearted or inhuman; or just get over it, because from what I've heard, in most cinemas where it was shown, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! It doesn't make you look cool or tough if you start dissing a movie like Titanic. Sure, sometimes the script gets a bit mushy, but that's what makes it so sad when it comes to the end, even if you already know what's gonna happen but that don't mean that you can just start dissing it cos the mushy wording and actions are what give the ending such an emotional feel.

My advice, if you're looking for twists and turns and suspense, sooo not the flick for you. Also, if you don't dig mushy script, probably not for you. However, if you don't mind a movie that you already pretty much know the ending that has no twists or anything filled with suspense and you don't mind mushy script GO SEE IT! If you think you can appreciate the music and the script for what it is supposed to represent, you will totally dig it. I did.

I loved it

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie. It has a very honest approach to the very common problem of alcoholism in America. It shows how alcoholism can affect not only the alcoholic but their family. For example, when Meg Ryan's character hits her daughter, it shows how being an alcoholic can harm not only you but also your family and that if you are an alcoholic, you need to get help a.s.a.p so as to reduce the amount of harm you otherwise could inflict.

I don't agree with the point of view that it is all Alice's fault, because look at the way her husband treats her! When she comes home from detox, he treats her as if she can't do anything, he even takes over taking care of the girls even though Alice does it better! Sure, there are times when she loses control and is a pretty awful character, such as when she slapped her daughter, but that was one of the reasons why she tried so hard to quit drinking! People see her as a horrible monster because of that incident but she says at the end when she's making her speech that slapping her daughter was one of the incidents that made her so determined to quit drinking. Her husband is seen as the victim, but I'm not so sure that he is. He undermines Alice all the time by saying the girls can do stuff Alice said they can't, and then wonders why Alice hates it! The movie is an excellent way of showing the affects of an alcoholic on not only the alcoholic but their family and friends. Remember the girl who helps out around the house? She gets treated like dirt but never complains and no one says anything about her! I loved the movie- it's brutally honest yet moving at the same time, truly a masterpiece. :-)

I loved it!!
28 March 2005
I loved this movie. I don't care what others say, I think this is a fantastic movie. Sure, it may not be as good as the original, but tell me, how many sequels are really as good as the original?? The originals are always the best, because they set the scene for everything, they introduce everything, and in comedies, are actually normally a lot funnier than the sequels. In action movies, they normally have more action in them, take Bourne Identity for example, excellent movie, sequel was alright but not as good, there was less action and more talking! Matthew Perry did fall over a bit too much though. In one movie you can only fall over or crash into stuff so many times, but in this movie that may have been overused. But what matters is the comedy that is in this movie, even if some people don't see it or understand it. The mere fact that Jimmy is wearing an apron and head scarf is hilarious! Just because he's constantly pulling gun on Jill doesn't mean the movie has no story, it just shows that Jimmy is still a tough hitter as he was when when he wasn't "dead".

The thing that I find annoying is that they make it so that Oz has no idea what's going on- again!! It's like he shouldn't even be married to Cynthia 'cause he never has any idea what she's talking about when she's talking to Jimmy and/or Jill. Also, what's with Yanni's father being Jimmy's dad as well?! What's up with that? I mean, sure, it kinda fits, what with Jimmy's occupation and attitude, but wasn't it him and Yanni who were trying to kill him?! And, don't the mafia classify their family as the most important thing to them apart from themselves and certain other members of the mafia??

The cast still work together terrifically, and together make it a great movie. The original is still way better than the sequel, but like I've already said, what original isn't better than a sequel?! I don't care what others think, I reckon that this movie is terrific and I would totally recommend it to anyone who's not sure about whether or not to see it.
