Taboo (2017)

Not that great at all.

This could have been done and dusted in a 3hr special. While the acting was good and it was good to see a few faces from the past it really was a total let down to be honest. I feel that the film was made for a specific audience and I don't count my self in that group. I tend to go for a film with a decent plot and story line and one that is stimulating to the mind not disturbing to the average film goer. Don't worry if you fall asleep for half of each episode because you won't miss anything. Treacle moves faster than this film. Feel free to read a book, play cards or even listen to music while this is on..

Was looking forward to this after the first offering. This movie was awful, it was that bad I am having problems writing how bad it was without using bad language. Do not pay to watch this. The actors were probably laughing all the way to the bank, they will need it as this film could ruin a few. Life after James Bond for Daniel Craig, ASDA adverts for him in future. Only another 300 characters to go. I am wondering if I could just cut and paste the word rubbish, because it is just rubbish, a pile boring nonsense. Please avoid this film at all costs, it shows you how bad it is because it made it on Netflix the same year as it's release.

With all the resources available, budget, actors, scenes, producers, and locations this fell below the bar of what could have been a very good series. Not quite a WTF but very close. If you can't get to watch paint dry or grass grow, this series is a good substitute.

Fight Club (1999)

Probably one of the most overrated films I have seen. Crazy, weird you name it. The only good thing is the acting. Little wonder it bombed at the cinema.

Watching that is more entertaining than this garbage. I managed about 45 mins. It was like listening to a vinyl record at the wrong speed. Maybe I missed something or should have been wearing a certain pair of specs. I honestly do not understand the high ratings one bit.

Urban Cowboy (1980)

If you are into Country and all that goes with it the film will be great for you.

However if you are a city boy like me it will be just bang average. The music is brilliant and that is what kept me watching till the end. The acting is very good so too are the characters.

The Tender Bar (2021)

Great film. The dialogue was perfect.

One of the best films I have seen in a long time. The makers matched the characters perfectly. It is not a start to finish, we all know what is going to happen film, it has twists and turns and with completely out of the blue dialogue, you know the stuff that you know is going on but never heard anyone saying it. Will give it about 6 months and watch it again.

Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Since then I have seen it on average every two years. As each decade that goes by I see it from a different angle and it portrays something different. It took me 20 years to see how good Karen Lynn Gorney was acting in her part. In fact everyone else was spot on. Three years ago while visiting New York I took a trip to Bay Ridge and went down to the Bridge and sat on that bench. The film must have made a big impression on my as I am now 67.

Essex Boys Retribution (2013)

Very poor in every way.

All the actors did not look the part. The 4 main characters looked like a bunch of anorak trainspotters. The music was over the top. About time the left this story alone.

Slow as treacle going uphill. Give it up partner. For once please take note of the bad reviews. I thought when I saw Bronco Billy that it was Clint's worst film, however it was a blockbuster compared to this film.

I have watched all of the ROF films. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. Plenty of violence, drugs and profanity. What more would you expect? A good soundtrack to boot.

No Time to Die (2021)

I have grown up with Bond. This is one of the best. Take no notice of the negative reviews.

If this was an episode of the Sopranos everyone would be raving about it.

Before I watched this I decided not to compare this with the Sopranos that way I kept my expectations low. It was a good film and well worth watching. Take no notice of the bad reviews and give this film a go.

The 12th Man (2017)

A story about the endurance of one man and people who risked their lives to help him. Have to say one of the best WW2 films I have seen. The subtitles did not spoil it for me, got used to them after 20 mins.

I could not even describe this as a slow burner. I watched it till the end because I thought it would get better but sadly it did not. I would rather have watched a silent cowboy film.
