The Pogmentary (2022)
Arrogant Spoiled child. Disgrace Amazon gave him a show
How on earth does someone look at paul pogba as someone worthy of any documentary?
What a waste of money.
This man is trash. His circle is trash.
He doesn't appreciate anything and thinks he's entitled to the world
You kick a ball when you're not faking injuries dude. You're not making the world a better place. And this show just proves that.
Scream (2022)
Insults fans in general while producing a sub-par product.
I can't say I cared about scream for a while but was looking forward to this one.
It was okay, was looking forward to Jack Quade and all, what the new cast would bring and ...yeah, no wasn't good hey.
I was bored off the bad, called who the killers were. Didn't buy the motives and this movie seems to have come about not from telling an interesting perspective of the franchise but yet another reaction from hollywood to their fans.
We're consumers of your product, so why don't you listen when people don't like the product? You're producing movies like this like someone posting vague passive-aggressive posts on facebook. Grow up.
DEAL with your issues people. Don't make movies as a reaction to people not liking your movies.
I don't know anyone who is talking about this positively or negatively and I can see why. It's almost 2 hours leading up to a climax that literally insults fans.
Here we have a situation where I was looking forward to a movie, it wasn't that great, wasn't terrible, but then it just turns around and broadly insults people on behalf of entitles hollywood elites for not liking the trash they put out. In my industry you'd be fired for this, not sure why hollywood gets away with it.
You're not entitled to me enjoying your show, it's on you to make something enjoyable.
Between (2015)
Yawnful - Please make it stop!
First, let me start with the positive; There is some production and budget here. I watched the first episode a while ago and my only positive thought was "how is the writing so bad but there was money for the rest?"
The dialogue is bland and just silly, first brought to my attention when someone kept yelling "grandfather, grandfather..." over and over. Nobody does that and from there the rest was pretty obvious.
The characters try to be believable and relate-able but they seem to just pulled from someone's experience of other shows and not real life. Nerdy kid, troubled sister, the admirable jock, the bad kids, the rich kid...
The characters seem to make decisions that are so, so , so bad that you forget how stupid the overall premise of the show is and stop believing the whole experience.
Worse yet is that this show is really just "the dome". A "mysterious virus" that causes sudden tongue bleeding and bad acting seconds before death causes a town to become isolated and quarantined. The only difference between this show and the dome is that the characters ages are restricted, that and the role of the dome is being played by the military.
What makes this show even worse is that there seems to be a series of stupid shows out now that revolve around small towns and something mysterious happening; Wayward pines, salem, bates motel, sleepy hollow, the dome, haven and more. If you restrict the location and characters in a show you have to elevate the sub-plots to ridiculously unbelievable levels. These shows are becoming predictable and trying to out-stupid each other it seems while adding slight variances.
The Following (2013)
What if cops were unprofessional and killers couldn't kill?
First, the good. I actually think the acting is good, to great. I really think the cast and production is as good as any other show.
Problem is a show needs substance.
The writing in this show is terrible. I started following it (see what i did there?) because I really liked the premise. The problem is that they compress far too much into a single episode and it turns out playing out like an improv play in a pre-school. in 1 episode your main antagonists can change 3 times and the protagonists life could be risked 4 times and there are 3/4 lucky breaks and a twist.
It is TOO MUCH! Slow it down kids. You have gone through the subject matter for at least 6 seasons in half the time. Every season you're upping the ante and making it more desperate. I suspect by the 5th season Kevin Bacon will be cancelled or an avenger.
Repeatedly the cops in this show screw each other over and break the rules. The killers will have decades of keeping this mysteriously low profile and amazing potential for death, then suddenly they cant get a single thing right because of Kevin Bacon. Oh and they will kill anyone in a heartbeat aside for the producer and main star...of course.
It Follows (2014)
Unique and refreshing Horror/Thriller
I love horror movies, I give even the worst ones a try and often cant get through the first 30 minutes because of bad dialogue and the over fantasticalistic acting that often is the true horror of the movie.
I actually expected that from this movie and didn't want to pay very much attention to it due to my clash of clans fixation but this film took me off my phone from the start and it held me to the finish.
The concept was great and slightly different to the norm, which was refreshing, but the real strength of the movie is the use of imagery and music to really tell a story, hold the mystery and create a feel for the emotions of the characters.
Generally I judge movies by my ability to predict what will happen next and often I can regurgitate the timeline of the movie after seeing the trailer. This movie had me guessing and in suspense the whole time, so bravo a rare experience for me.
Lastly I have to say the style of the movie was great, for me, I think it will help set this movie apart from the genre. it reminded me very much of the movie "driver" only this movie was interesting. The world was real; no bimbos running and screaming through the forest of their parents 32 bedroom mansion with the creature perusing at 50mph right up until the last inch, where the monster loses the victim. None of that junk here. The people were believable, relate-able and represented the part of the world and situation they are coming from.
Great film, I hope to see more from the writer/director. I would have given the film a 9 but there were some things the characters did that suspended belief for me.
Comet (2014)
A must see - this is not a love story, it is a review.
There was a point in the movie where I thought the director had to be in love with Emily Rossum because I started to feel it a little myself too. There was sheer poetry in how the film extracted an appreciation for her. So when I came online to see who the director was, Bang "In a relationship with Emily Rossum". High 5 to me!
I threw this film on because I was looking for something different, I was honestly not expecting much but it truly delivered. Now I find myself looking to recommend it to people that will be able to appreciate it for what it is. I have seen a few great films this month but comet truly stood out for me.
Both the of the characters are not typical but they are very easy to relate to. Long and Rossum had very believable chemistry and played their roles well.
For me the film felt like a personal review of a failed or difficult relationship. As you look back you never consider the moments chronologically, I hope that was the intention, but the film seems to run that way. I really enjoyed it, that approach made it feel more real and less predictable and I believe we need more risks like this. I think that will be confusing for many people that won't get a linear approach.
I found myself sucked in by an interesting piece of opening dialogue as the film opened and within 30 minutes I felt as though I was a part of this relationship. It didn't let me go until the end, which I loved too.
REALLY great bit of work here all round, some reviews made remarks on the editing but I thought it was seamless to build complexity.
I will not marry a woman that does not enjoy this film. It's this and Star Wars (first 3) ladies, so get in line!
