The Light of the World (2003)
Sensationalistic Garbage
Chick tries way too hard with the whole "turn or burn" method to be taken seriously. I suppose the religious/spiritual types may buy into this but an Atheist like me just gets amused from it. The sound effects were OK, the paintings are incredible, but the message is tired, boring, and just unrealistic unless you are brainwashed like most Christians I know.
I would rather watch the Passion (which I didn't, but I have seen enough clips to know it's just as bad) than this piece of crap again. Though I must admit Fred Carter can definitely paint. Too bad his talents are wasted on such drivel.
King of the Hill: The Father, the Son and J.C. (2001)
One of the better episodes exploring Hank and Cotton's relationship.
This episode is great in it shows the tense but honest attempts by Hank and Cotton to try and overcome their past to become closer. Cotton is great character on this show who deserves our pity instead of our anger. The story regarding the immigrant family is a little heart warming. They are over-joyed that they have come to a country (as put by the patriarch's speech) where they matter. It tugs at you and makes you realize that in other countries people do not have th ability to bitch and complain about their government without being tortured/killed for it. Jimmy Carter's appearance (though it is not him but is still very hilarious) is quite apt for this episode. His mediation is funny especially when he is dealing with cotton. I personally see it as one of the stronger episodes of this series that help show that Mike Judge is a great artist with this fine example of a television program.
