Tian can di que (1979)
Kung Fu lovers delight
This movie is amazing. The awesome fight scenes with the edited sounds on contact are almost enough. But there's more. See this movie. We had never laughed so hard watching a movie. Not for the most sympathetic of people. If you are not P.C. and enjoy Kung Fu flicks this will be on your shelf in no time. The fact that these 2 guys can fight to avenge their disabilities is incredible. These are real actors with legitimate disabilities. When they fight together they are a formidable duo and incite nonstop laughter. Lots of humor to be had and good life lessons as well. Teamwork is good. Always listen to the master in the basket. Crippled Masters is a masterpiece in that it will amaze you and leave you in stitches.
Alive (2002)
High Hopes...
Having seen Versus previously I had high hopes for Alive. The description of the movie on the back of the DVD jacket sounded promising. Alive did not deliver. VERY slow development. Loads of potential with the cast and the cool visuals. The premise was intriguing but the payoff did not offset the build up. Could have done so much more at the end. Most of the movie is just " sitting around ". To put it plainly, three of us were amped to sit down and watch this movie and by the 50 minute mark we were struggling to make it thru to the end. It really needed more shock elements. If you are looking for Ichi the Killer or Versus type fights then save yourself some $ and loads of disappointment.
