Dune World (2021)
So bad it's bad.
I tried to find unintentional humour in this, for want of a better word, film. It would have actually made it watchable (for all the wrong reasons), but alas it wasn't to be.
From the cheap props and a kids mask in which they didn't even bother to fix the pushed-in nose to the wooden doors in a spaceship?!? Not to mention the toy guns and dust masks this atrocity should never have been unleashed on the unsuspecting (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) public.
If you're reading this, it may well be too late and you've probably already watched it. I found that talking about it helps. Find a support group and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Entertaining. Good, but not great.
Predictable, perfectly ok acting, not enough gore, but still entertaining. Netflix strikes again with another slightly above average production. Maybe the second and third films will be better. Although the soundtrack contains a lot of great music, they tried way to hard to fit as many 90s songs in as possible and it gets a bit ridiculous by the end.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Too many snowflakes reviewing this amazing show
Incredible show. Casting, acting, script, cinematography are all fantastic.
The problem is, as soon as you try to be inclusive these days all the snowflakes come out of the woodwork to call it "leftist".
Compassion and tolerance and understanding... These are not political ideas they're emotions. Stop making it about politics and admit you're intolerant of people who aren't like you (that's called prejudice by the way).
I love this show for many reasons, but the most important reason is it's inclusiveness. There is no "normal". We're all different and that's what makes this world so awesome.
10 out of 10 for sure.
About Time (2013)
Brilliant film (if you actually get what it's about)
The main reason I'm writing this review is due to the fact that most of the negative reviewers on IMDb seem to have missed the point of this film entirely. I'm not going to go into much detail as I think the film speaks for itself (and I hate it when people put spoilers in their reviews).
It's not a romantic comedy as most would have you believe. It's a comedy/drama that revolves around the relationship between a father and son. The romantic themes are just a small part of this great film.
Once you stop thinking of it as a rom-com you will see the brilliance of it all. It's not the greatest film of all time, it's not the prettiest, the funniest or the best written.
What it is is a heartfelt tale of a father/son relationship. The time travel elements are just a plot device, the romance, just a plot device. It's laugh out loud funny in spots and tear-jerking in others. It's well written, but still light and breezy when it needs to be.
Look past the surface of this film and feel the emotion that these fine actors bring to the screen. Let go and just enjoy it for what it is.
