Modern Love (2019)
Varied, real and raw.
Flawless acting, scripts that are moving without being overly sentimental, and although I'm not from NY the sets feel authentic. Every single episode gets 5 stars from me. A couple of them struck a chord so raw in me. Even though I was raised in Oakland and am absolutely a west coast girl, I saw myself in so many of the stories. I recognized and identified with the characters' experiences that mirrored my life; experiences that formed who I am. This series validated so much for me. Can't wait for season 2.
Living with Yourself (2019)
Unique concept with excellent acting
I've never seen anything like this; clever, well-paced, witty and surprising. Excellent acting all around. It never plays down to the audience by over explaining. Perhaps it's just my personal experience in life, but I found this profoundly thought provoking and moving in ways that brought me back to uncomfortable and/or hurtful childhood events that formed me, for better or worse, into who I am today. And I like who I am today, so I am thankful to this series for creating an opportunity for constructive introspection.
Off the Menu (2018)
Am I Missing Something?
Right from the start I was disappointed in the acting, the chemistry, the script and the inaccurate portrayal of Mexican/New Mexican culture. Then I thought, oh wait! Maybe it's tongue in cheek, maybe it's satire, maybe it's meant to be like this? After a half hour or 45 minutes I realized it was just not a very good film. Couldn't even finish it. I completely agree with @andrewrye-06535 and @funambuline on this one.
