Don't Look Up (2021)

Absolute waste of time, (almost) nothing scientifically accurate
18 February 2022
Anyone who knows anything about space will know that there is not a single accurate thing in this movie.

The main event happening in this movie could very well happen in real life, and it's important not to forget that, but beyond that, nothing is accurate. I wish they had hired just a single scientist of any type to overview the nonsense they are putting in scene after scene.

The movie is a sort of satire of the worst parts of modern society, so it's supposed to be funny. But truly, not a single one of these "funny" scenes made me laugh. I spent the whole movie wondering "what's the point?" It just goes on and showing random scenes that could be seen in today's world if it was a little more short-sighted than it already is. These scenes are barely connected to one another, leaving you with a sense of total time wasting. You'd learn more and be more entertained watching a random YouTube playlist.

The worst Marvel movie I've seen
27 July 2021
I had high hopes, as I love many Marvel films. Truly didn't know they had it in them to make such a bad movie.

It basically jumps from one purposeless action scene to another, each bringing even less to the story than the last. Almost every character feels fake, especially the parents and the villain. For no reason the parents (as well as Yelena) start speaking with a heavy Russian accent even though you see at the start of the movie they are perfectly capable of speaking American English. This adds to the feeling that everything is fake and doesn't hold up.

The movie sometimes tries to be emotional, but fails miserably every time.

On the plus side, Yelena is a funny character. You could watch a 3 minute extract of her funny scenes and save yourself the time.

Worst movie of my life
12 January 2017
This movie was such a waste of time, I thought I would write a review here just to warn you guys and avoid more people wasting their time like I wasted mine. I've never seen such bad and fake acting in a film. I thought even though the story seems boring and badly acted, maybe I'll learn a few tips about nature survival. All the "sruvival" skills used, and all the problems they run into, are as fake as the acting! Absolutely nothing learned at all! On top of all this, the film seems to basically tell you "nature is dangerous. you should just stay at home and eat bacon all day, then you'll be happy". It's the stupidest plot, with the stupidest morale, written in the poorest possible way, and with the worst possible acting. OK I wasted 5 extra minutes writing this review, hope at least it keeps you from wasting 1.5 hours of your life.

Characters feel fake
17 April 2015
The story isn't bad, and the graphics are acceptable, especially considering it comes from a small studio. What kept me from really enjoying the movie, though, is that the characters felt fake, from beginning to end.

The accent of the ladybug almost feels like something that would create a great character, but never really does. Same goes for every character. They say things which are very obvious, just to make you understand what's going on, which adds to the fake feeling. Like some other reviews said, that makes something acceptable for small children, but really not great for anyone else. It's made up a little by the fact that most of the music is nice.

A cult movie that might touch some, but not everyone!
21 February 2015
Sorry for those of you who consider this a cult movie. I know it has a big fan base.

But I must warn you if you're about to watch this movie, there's a good chance you get bored. Not much happens, and most of what does happen is predictable.

I know the movie speaks about the mind of teenagers, so maybe some will relate to it because of that. But many discussions feel "fake" because nobody (no, not even teenagers) would react like this.

Some of the problems these teenagers have are real teenager problems, but others are just "first world problems". It's nice to see that in 2015, people are more conscious of how ridiculous our little life problems are. I think there's more of a tendency today for people (yes teenagers too) to take a step back and realize that we're pretty lucky, life is pretty good, and our problems aren't that important!

3 of the strongest hours of my life
27 January 2015
Simply put, watching this movie was one of the strongest experiences of my life. I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you like your mind to travel in the zone between "strange" and "amazed" (and beyond).

I would like to end my review here, because I think the rest is for you to explore, unspoilt, but since there's a minimum review length, I will go on to say that the music is as strong an experience as the rest. And for those of you doubting, one of the movie's executive producers was Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, which means the theories put forward in the movie are pretty accurate (though of course the movie explores theories beyond current knowledge). AFTER having seen the movie, you should watch Neil Degrasse Tyson's 15 minute interview, about the science behind Interstellar.

So much more than a ski film
9 January 2015
"Into the Mind" sounds like a pretentious title for a ski film, but in reality it's flawless, and surprisingly moving, from the beginning to the end. It ups the artistic standard for sport movies to a whole new level, and takes your mind to a crazy voyage.

That means it's a great film not just for skiers but for everyone. All.I.Can (the first movie) was great for skiers, and had a nice message, but was far from being as artistic and universal as Into the Mind. The fact that there are almost no words (which you might not like if you have a short attention span) makes it all the more powerful.

On top of all this, the choice of music is just awesome! The way the soundtrack is edited, and the timing of the whole thing is perfect. Whoever made this soundtrack is a genius!

In short it's a flawless movie which I would recommend to anyone, even if you're not interested in skiing. I hope to see more artwork like this from Sherpas Cinema in the future.

Awesome movie with a very unconventional structure
9 January 2015
This movie doesn't follow conventional structure, with a problem, a plot twist, a love story, some action, and a typical happy/tragic ending. The characters don't act as "heroes", who do everything just the right way.

No, this movie (and the characters in it) dares to go beyond the notion of good/bad, and beyond the notion of "death is so sad". This might put some people off, and I know it felt strange to me, but it's really refreshing actually.

It's based on myths that have not been proved scientifically, but not really proved wrong, either (as other reviews say). Keep in mind that obviously all the parts of the brain are useful, But we have Conscious access to only a tiny percentage of it. Even non-magical exercises like simple meditation let you have conscious access to more brain functions (i.e. accelerating or decelerating your heart rate without moving).

After having watched this movie, I got a nice feeling that life is simple and there's no need to create complicated problems where there are none.

Great movie with all the humor and lightness of the 2 first
31 January 2014
It's great even if you haven't seen the 2 first movies! But if you have, know that it brings you the same kind of lightness and fun. Makes you want to enjoy life to the fullest! Each character is perfectly built up, and you get attached to all of them (I feel like I know them personally and would happily move in with them!)

Of course, this movie builds up on the story that started 20 years earlier, so it's great to see how each of these people evolved, how life changes, and how it's still linked to the past. It's hard not to fall in love with these people! Each of the 3 movies happens in a totally different place. So let yourself be carried away!
