First Kill (2017)
Defies reasonable logic
Spoilers alert.
First of all, what doctor once they have been told "a man has been shot, please help him". Does not immediately jump to action to save a life WHILE asking questions about what happened? Apparently this doctor thinks it is a good moment to stand there letting a man bleed out on the couch while she interrogates her husband and lectures him on his parenting choices.
Secondly, what rational adult, who just shot another man in obvious self defense, and now has another mortally wounded man in his back seat of his car, does not immediately call 911 as he drives all the way back home, down a mountain and hauls said man inside his house for his wife to patch up? Yes, the hospital is a long way away, I get taking him to your wife who is a doctor, but not calling to give an ambulance as much heads up as possible?
Then thirdly, who leaves a criminal, who was just involved in a shoot out to the death, unsupervised in their home with their wife and kid while they go have a shower?
Fourth, when an armed bad guy drags your wife from a car, and you have a clear shot at him, and he didn't even know you are there, why would you not take the shot and rescue your wife? Why would you sigh exasperatedly and then run off into the woods? Fifth, when sneaking up on a killer, and you have a rifle, why would you stop in the one spot where said killer is blocked by a tree?
Sixth, when someone is trying to kill you, and they have a gun trained on your wife, why would you give them a heads up and announce yourself and give them a count down, signaling to them when they should execute your wife before they get shot themselves?
This is just a small list of the reality breaking, rational thought defying moments that plague this film. They aren't hard plot holes to fill, and if they had the movie could have been better. But instead they left the film riddled with a Swiss cheese logic line.
Lastly, did Honda sponsor this film? Cause that is the only way I can see the silly utterly pointless line the aunt throws into this movie when she tells her nephew not to take his land rover (one of the most off-road capable, trail worthy, technologically advanced vehicles ever made, ((even if most people don't take them off road because that are too expensive to rush damaging)) up into the mountains because it will get stuck. She then tells him to take the ridgeline (the absolute LEAST offroad capable pick up on the market. A unibody, part time AWD, based on a front wheel drive crossover, and is really only designed to be a fuel efficient option for your weekend trips to home depot for potting soil.) Up there instead because it "can go anywhere". At first I thought the truck would end up being necessary for the plot because of how much of a wildly out of place lie that was. But nope, they just drive it up there, shot it up, then drive it down. So it served no purpose other than transportation, on roads that a geo metro probably could have managed.
So either the director is such a die hard Honda fan boy that he slipped this on and hoped no one would notice, or Honda handed them a fat check and said use our truck, and say this line. Everyone rolled their eyes at the absurdity of it, but did it anyways because they needed the money... Nothing else makes sense. Kinda like half this movie.
Gunless (2010)
Great movie, funny witty humor and good acting for a small budget.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by this film. It isn't a big budget block buster, but it is just plain fun. The witty sarcastic humor had me entertained at all times. There is a silliness to it, but it is balanced out with some action and a little romance. The acting was very impressive, especially for a title I'd never heard of. Nothing looks cheaply done, despite it being a low budget film. It doesn't have the flair or extravagance of a block buster, but it is remarkably well put together for what they had to work with. I enjoyed every minute of it and even watched it again with my family, who all also loved it. It reminded us of the old movie "Support Your Local Sheriff". (If you've ever seen that). Pay attention to the dialogue, the witty humor makes the movie.
