Logan Lucky (2017)
My notes..
Even though I watch a lot of movies, I barely write reviews. But, i liked it so much that I decided to write one. Well, it's not a review per say.. more like my notes on why I liked this one so much.
1. Portrayal of small town life. The life in the Appalachian mountains, the west virginia, their accents.. Absolutely liked that.
2. There are some scenes which are slow.. some might say those are irrelevant in a heist movie, but, they represent small things we do daily in our life. I loved that too.
2. Long & steady camera shots. No sudden cuts, paced camera work.
3. Realistic night photography. In most movies, whenever there is an outdoor scene at night, some background, out of sight lights lit the areas in front of the camera, which is absurd. Where is that light coming from in the middle of the jungle/road? But, in this movie, the night scenes are realistically lit. No unnecessary lights put. Most notable scene is when Jimmy is returning home from the heist & the sign on the side of the road that reads "Welcome to West Virginia". This signboard is seen a in earlier scenes in the movies, but when Jimmy returns home at night, only the silhouette of the board is seen. No extra lighting is used in that scene except the car headlights; as it should be.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Entertaining movie except the starting & ending!
It's an entertaining movie.. Unlike the first one, this one lacks a bit on the 'adventure' area, but the comedy & acting was really good.
But that's only during the in-game time. Both starting & ending sequences are horrible, feels cheesy. The only entertaining part was during the in-game scenes.
Onward (2020)
Cheesy, clichéd, completely unlikable protagonist..
Full of cheesy dialogues, clichéd situations..
I tried but cannot like the younger brother one bit.. Some people are saying the older brother is unlikable, but to me that is the only character in the whole movie that doesn't annoy me.
Durgeshgorer Guptodhon (2019)
What was Koushik Sen conspiring with Lama?
Plot holes can never make a movie enjoyable. If Kharaj is the one trying to steal the treasure, what was Koushik Sen conspiring with Lama? When everyone was going to Dildighi for 'kolabou snan', we see Koushik Sen in a jogging suit, asking Lama to keep an eye on Sona-da.. And wants to do something before they knows it. Since he isn't plotting to steal the treasure, what was all that about?
