Dublin Murders (2019)
The two plot lines is unnecessary
This series started out really strong with great character development and an intriguing and unique story line.
That plot remains interesting throughout, however, about half way through the series a second story line is introduced that runs concurrently. I found it very silly and unnecessary with the need to completely suspend belief. The links between the two stories was weak.
It wasn't a bad show, just some poor decision making to combine two seperate book storyline's into one series that took some of the shine off its appeal.
Overall I would score it 6.5 out of 10. It would have been a 7 had there been more focus..
Svörtu sandar (2021)
Brilliant noir
Not sure why this isn't rated higher. I loved it. A slow burn that pays off at the end. Dark and atmospheric. Interesting and highly flawed characters. Beautiful location.
Foundation (2021)
Gripping sci-fi
The reviewers giving this such low scores because it doesn't replicate the books are sullying the reputation of what is a well acted, visually stunning and highly entertaining series. Just enjoy it for what it is.
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Arthouse horror
I 'get it' but I didn't enjoy it. A truly bizarre film.
Just Cause (1995)
Entertaining enough but predictable
Follows standard thriller formula but was OK. It's very clear what the twist is going to be about half way through.
Gallipoli (2015)
Incredible portrayal of the realities of war
I cannot praise this series enough. The casting, acting, plot. I felt every emotion watching this. For those saying it's slow, that's because it's a character study and is based on fact. A series that will stay with me for a long time.
I'll Be Gone in the Dark (2020)
Misleading and slow
As many other reviewers have said this is primarily about the author (who was not actually a key to solving the case) with small pockets of info about the killer. I found it incredibly slow. If it was a 2-3 episode story I may have felt differently as it's an interesting enough premise. But by episode 4 I couldn't continue. I've just been offered a free copy of the book through Audible and the documentary has put me off reading it!
Velvet Buzzsaw (2019)
Doesn't deserve the hate
I think viewers who are disappointed may have been expecting a scare. I would describe it more as a dark comedy with mild horror elements. The storyline is completely unique and it kept me entertained the entire time.
