Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser (2015)
A Complete Let Down
I loved Joe Dirt, the first movie was quirky, humorous and fun. This sequel, Joe Dirt 2 is a complete disappointment.
Yes, the characters, a lot of them, return but the potential for the same type of fun that the first movie served up was completely wasted. I gave it every opportunity to save it's self, watching to the end, and as the movie progressed it only got worse. Stupid humor, no freshness to the story or characters and by the last 30 minutes it really got so lame I wanted to turn it off.
I wish I had.
You might enjoy this flick if you are a 13 or 14 year old boy, but for everyone else I recommend you not wast your time. Even the music, which in the first film seemed to represent a perfect feeling for the story line, was way off and didn't add anything to save this mess.
Love the Coopers (2015)
I Feel Sorry For :
The people who acted in this film, the people who wrote this drivel who may have had real life experience in helping form their view of family life during the Christmas Season, anyone who's relatives actually resemble any part of the film's portrayal of family life and finally anyone who thought this was good, funny or worth recommending to anyone else.
I wouldn't even bother renting this at Redbox for $1.50, if you are inclined to want to see this, as a sort of train wreck type of curiosity, be prepared to be delighted in the downfall of human existence. It doesn't delight me, but you are entitled to your own opinion.
The dog was good, it's why I voted two stars instead of one.
Noah (2014)
An Interesting Take
As a Christian viewer of course I understand the flap over the liberties taken with the story. One would not expect any product coming from Hollywood to actually reflect any Biblical truths. That aside, it was interesting to see the film examining the confliction in Noah, his human traits expanded and the human sinner verses faith in his God showcasing an inner struggle over the task he was given.
As a movie, the technical effects were very well done, the grand scale of the animals entering the ark and all of the visual dramatics of the flood itself were incredible. I enjoyed the beginning of the film more than the end, and if you are going to the theater to see it, well, be aware of the film's length.
Over all, the story presented did keep one interested and the visuals are fantastic. I see the controversy as something of a good thing. If it introduces people to the Bible and get's folks talking on the subject it's a win for all involved, a chance for those not familiar with the book to get acquainted and a teaching moment for those upset that the story isn't true to fact. I'll take a chopped up Bible story over the rest of the Hollywood junk pile any day!
